How are the marks for 12 STD Maharashtra state Board calculated?

I am a student who is going to appear for Hsc Maharashtra board exams this year, so I consider myself eligible to answer this question. In std 12,there is weightage for both : practicals and theory paper. Practicals almost consist 30% marks, and the remaining is theory paper. Total marks in your report card will be calculated out of a total score of 600. You have 6 subjects each weighing 100 marks. And atleast in this year 2016–17 there is no Best of Five grading system like in std 10.

How are ICSE marks calculated? I heard that only best of five are taken.

There are six subjects in icse board. In science/commerce sideScience/commerceMathsComputer/economicsEnglishHindiHCV(history, civics, geography)The total is calculated out of 500 including top 5 scores of subjects but there are few conditions too. Inclusion of english is compulsory.English generally fucks the board percentage and thats the reason in schools to show best of topper percentage, english is excluded in percentage so as to show the best results. But the real percentage includes english. So in icse board english is important and you cant afford to loose marks in it. You can loose marks in maths in science/commerce but not in english. So, give importance to english.Good luck.

What is passing criteria for Maharashtra HSC 2017?

Maharashtra State Board has introduced this new rule to fight the situation wherein students with very poor marks in written exam could also 'pass' a subject on the strength of the marks they scored in practical exams which are estimated generously by their school and college. The cut-off marks in the written exams will ensure that the students have basic knowledge regarding the subjects they have cleared. For the students of class 9 and class 11 this new rule will come into effect from June, 2015.Gangadhar Mahamane, the Chairman of the State Board, said, "The Board has proposed that the minimum passing marks in written exams should be at least 25% but the state government lowered it to 20% marks" as quoted by a website. The rules of Central Board of Secondary Education says that to pass an exam, a Class 9 student has to score at least 25% in the written exams and at least 33% marks in Class 10, Class 11 and Class 12.According to the academicians the new rule will affect the pass percentage of Maharashtra board students. In 2012, the state board had made it compulsory for class 9 and class 11 students to score at least 25% in the written exam in the subjects of Math and Science to pass. However, the rule had to be removed as large number of students failed to clear the exam.Students with special disabilities, who find it difficult to score in theory exams as they are unable to write, will be affected adversely by the new rule. While CBSE has specified passing percentage in its board exams, it also allows many concessions to students with such disabilities which are not provided by the Maharashtra state board under these rules.

How is 10th ICSE board percentage calculated?

The procedure for calculating 10th I.C.SE. board examination percentage is pretty simple. You might be shocked to know that physics, chemistry and biology have the least weightage in percentage. So, I should first tell you that you all are studying only 6 subjects and they are —MathematicsComputer/ P.ed. ( Optinal subject )Hindi ( Regional language)Science ( Physics + Chemistry + Biology)English ( Language + Literature)Social Science ( History/ Civics + Geography )So all these six subjects have 100 marks overall out of which you will give 80 marks examination and 20 marks will be given by the school based on internal assessment and projects ( except for computer in which examination will be of 100 marks ).In science, your physics, chemistry and biology marks are added up and then divided by 3 to get science marks. Same is done in social science and english and in these both subjects and added and divided by 2.Then the best five subjects are selected, which means that the subject with the least marks is not taken into consideration. Then the marks of best five subjects are added and then divided by 500 and then multiplied by 100.Brief summy —Select the best 5 five subjects then use the following formula to calculate your percentage where ‘S’ is the sum of marks of your best 5 subject.Percentage =( S/500 ) × 100 %Thanks for reading my answer and if you liked it please let me know in the comments section and don’t forget to upvote it.Edit : I forgot to mention that English is compulsorily added and from the rest five subjects, best four are taken.

What after class X IGCSE in India?

After class X (IGCSE), the child can continue with A-levels, which is an equivalent to 12th in India. A-level examinations are conducted by CIE itself. The child can also switch to the state board if he/she wants (atleast in Maharashtra, they can) for giving 12th grade exams. As you mentioned, your child is just 3 and honestly, it doesn't matter where he/she goes now for studying. You can easily change your child's education board till 6th grade. Your child will be easily able to switch. It is not recommended to switch after 6th because then, the syllabus and methodology changes which a child may find difficult to adjust to. Also, one disadvantage international students have is that for college admissions, state board just takes into account best 5 subjects' marks while for Igcse students, all the subjects are counted, which reduces the overall percentage (as the maximum marks increases, chances of getting a high percentage reduces). So, for example, Venkatesh (a state board student) gets 645 out of 700.English- 82Hindi- 91Chemistry- 93Physics- 94Biology- 89Mathematics- 99Computers- 97The best 5 subject marks will be for English (mandatory), Mathematics, Computers, Physics, Chemistry. The total will be 465/500 which is 93%.Gaurav, an IGCSE student gets the same marks in all subjects. There will be no best of 5 facility for him. Thus, he'll get 92.1% only, a difference of 0.9% which can affect a lot because of the immense competition. If the child continues with A levels though, then he'll not face any problems because then the percentage doesn't matter much because not many people go for A-levels and therefore, there isn't much competition for entry into colleges. You can read and get to know more about IGCSE on their website.Cambridge International Examinations Feel free to comment and I'll try to answer your query. Hope this helps you.
