Is This A Good Name For My Guitar

A good name for my guitar?

Naming your guitar, unless it has some significance in the history of the guitar, is just kind of silly. Famous guitars that have names, usually have a story or significance behind them and the owners of same said guitars do not name every guitar they own.

Examples include Neil Young's staple beat up black Les Paul with a Bigsby became to be called ol' black, just because he uses this guitar so much. He really doesn't name all of his guitars. Then you have B.B. King. King always calls his main guitar (usually a Dot) Lucille. There have been many Lucille's. He does have a reason for this, as explained in the title track of he "Lucille" album.

I have nothing against a guitar having a name that has significance and/or reason, but just to give a name for the sake of giving a name makes no sense.

What is a good name to name my guitar?

I'd need some details about your guitar -- style, finish, etc. But I had a great old Fender Bullet years ago that was pale yellow and one of my bandmates referred to it as Blanche, which stuck. When we were going on the road, he asked which of my guitars I was bringing. I said the Fender and he smiled and said, "Oh, Blanche." I asked what he meant and he said, "That one's the same color as blanched peanuts." Since then, I've always been inclined to think of my guitars as having names based on color. Rose, Scarlett, Raven, Tawny, Amber. Not names I'd choose for daughters, but since the guitars aren't liable to complain...

A good name for my guitar?

My guitars are called Alice, Maria, Veronica and Fire Garden. lol.

Here some good names for yours, combining both black and a girl's name:

Huyen (Vietnamese girl's name meaning Reflective Black).
Jetta (Latin girl's name meaning Jet Black)
Kala (Hindi girl's name meaning Black)

Just some thoughts.

Other names that could be good are:

Ebony
Raven

They could be girls's names too. I think I'd choose one of those.

My Pool Cue is called Scarlett because she's that colour!

Any good guitar names?

Raven. It's the brand name and a low-end brand-name at best, but you'd be surprised at how many professional musicians have played her, thought she was the "cat's meow" and offered me more than what she's worth on the market. A classical guitar at that. She's not in the orginal shape I got her in. I've done some revisions such as refinishing, straightening the warped neck, new heads, nuts & a couple new frets but she sings so pretty. Yeah, she may once have been a cheap piece of crap but I loved her enough to keep her going and had others much more experienced appreciate her for what she is. She is Raven. No apologies.

What did you name your guitar?

I received a nice Mitchell acoustic dreadnought guitar as a birthday gift, and it quickly became my favorite everyday player. Almost everyone that played it remarked on its playability and tone. Mitchell is (or was) the house brand of Guitar Center, not known for phenomenal tone or anything, but this one just had “it”. I was hanging out in NYC a lot at the time (late 1990’s, pre 9/11), and I had a habit of collecting these little marketing postcards that were in a box at the front door of lots of bars and music venues. They all had cool photos, art, etc, on them and I would make collages or whatnot with them. One of them I grabbed was at a place that catered to Gujarati Indian cool kids and had a photo of a really sexy Indian belly dancer on it, and lo and behold, it was actually a sticker. I peeled it off on night while i was a little stoned and stuck it right on the shoulder of the Mitchell acoustic, so if I were to look down at the guitar I’d be making eye contact with the belly dancer.A friend of mine who loved that guitar saw the sticker the next day and said,”Now it’s perfect. You should call it ‘The Muse’”. So I did, and still do. Crazy thing is, this sticker that I got from a free postcard at some bar in Manhattan is still in perfect shape, and she still turns me on. . .
