What would be considered dressy casual?
Black pants, and a nice button down shirt or a sweater. A nice skirt and sweater. I would say no jeans.
Is this dress too dressy for a casual house party?
A friend of mine is having a house party. My group of friends is way more mature than your stereotypical "13 year old", so this party is definitely going to be pretty crazy! I got this dress to wear, but I am not sure if it is too dressy to wear just to a house party. Opinions? What is dressy casual?
Do NOT wear jeans! Wear a dress (not long, not a gown, simple black party dress is always a good choice)... one you can dance in! Or wear black pants with an attractive layered or 'holiday party' type of top. Dressy casual is just another way of saying "semi-formal" It's always best to show up "over dressed" than "under-dressed."

..I'm graduating 8th grade.. i have no idea how dressy my dress should be i'm thinking more dressy than my valentines dance dress was but MUCH less dressy than a prom dress..wut color would be good for the occasion?...& wut should it look like

Congratulations on your achievement. I would suggest that you specify what you don't want at the bottom of the invitation, of course after the invite. People read things as they want to perceive it. The word "Casual" appears too many as just that (Casual), regardless if it's business casual, casual chic, or dressy casual. Why, because jeans can be fit up to look not so casual (if you know what I mean). Be specify in what you don't want at the bottom, this will clear anyone’s assumption for what type of dress you do not want at your event. Again congratulation on your graduation, might I ask what your degree is in?
Can I wear a dressy maxi dress to a wake (friend's mom) or should i stick to a dress casual knee length dress
I think it would be fine, but dress to where you..yourself feel comfortable. I personally would where the knee length dress because this is a sad moment in everyones life and everyone is basically looking for comfort, plain, and casual. Its up to you though. If you feel you should where the maxi then thats fine. I just wanted to give a hand in an opinion. I'm sorry about the loss of your friends mom and I will say a prayer for her. Take care...
