Is Zwinky Still A Virus

Does Zwinky Cause A Virus?

Ugh! My friend got Zwinky and got a viruses. I got cursor Mania which gave me viruses (Also created Zwinky) Norton will not find viruses from Zwinky, Cursor Mania, Webfetti, etc. It will cause tracking cookies (they stalk your stuff even personal information), adware (this will give you spam emails such as ads)and etc. If its in your computer too long it will disappear off your add and remove programs list. Get some anti virus program such as Malware Bites. Kaspersky is too furious, it will fight anything. Norton is commonly used, so some people who create viruses will try to find a way around Norton. Also, search up My Web Search Toolbar Virus. Or Zwinky Virus. You will find some good info on it. Good Luck!

Is Zwinky a virus or safe?

I asked Zwinky to get rid of the Mywebsearch toolbar 'cause I thought it was a virus. The email is like this
I sent:
I am x_nancy_x on Zwinky. I am mailing you today to tell you that the MyWebSearch toolbar is a virus. I have had many encounters with my laptops' virus program saying it is a Trojan. Please remove that toolbar from the download of your game. I would love to start playing zwinky again, but I cannot because of the toolbar causing problems with my computer. It slows it down and it also makes it crash a lot. Thank you for your time.

They replied back with:
The Mindspark Products do not contain any viruses, adware, or spyware. However, some types of security software may mistake embedded Smileys (image files) for a virus when you attempt to send a message. Please refer to your security software documentation to find out how to disable the warning.

If you are receiving a warning from a virus detection utility (or another utility) while installing or using the Mindspark Products, please be sure you are running the most current virus "definition" file. If this does not resolve the problem, get back to us with:

- The name and version of the utility
- The name of the company that makes your virus software (so we can contact them to correct their detection utility)
- The virus logs created by your virus scanner so we can be as detailed as possible when we contact your virus software company.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

I bet they only say that so I'll install it again. That or they really don't know it's a virus. Doesn't download.com have a lot of safe downloads? All of their downloads are safe as I know of because they scan it ALL before they add it. IMVU is on there and I know that it is safe. Zwinky isn't even on download.com so I don't trust it anymore.

I have Avast! as my antivirus. So is Zwinky a virus or what?..

Is Zwinky still a virus?

Is zwinky a virus? or is it safe? what should i do?

Here is what Wikipedia says:
Zwinky adds the MyWeb Searchbar toolbar to the following applications: Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, AOL 9.0 Email and Browser, Becky!, IncrediMail, MSN Dial-up Service, AOL Instant Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and Windows Live Messenger.[1]

Once Zwinky is installed, the MyWeb Searchbar runs on startup. When users attempt to visit nonexistent pages, the software redirects them to search.mywebsearch.com. MyWeb Searchbar has been included on lists of known spyware.[2] A review from McAfee SiteAdvisor of the Zwinky website states, "In our tests, this site promoted downloads that some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs." There are also many user review complaints about the spyware that the Zwinky website supports.[3]

I suggest you uninstall it.
You may need help with that. Run the unistaller after booting into safe mode.
You should run a scan with one of the best free programs linked below.

If the uninstaller does not remove Zwinky I suggest you ask for help at
Bleeping Computer. It is free and very professional.

Does zwinky cause a virus?

Yes, definitely. Zwinky is full of spam, they place tracking cookies and tracing cookies, as well as worms, adware, banners, and viruses that generally reduce your computer's performance significantly. You should uninstall both, or even better, if you have Bitdefender 2010 Total Security (the best PC security program in the world), you should shred the file so no traces of it are left! If you do not have bitdefender, then go to your internet browser, and remove all the cookies, cache and temporary internet file (google it if you do not understand what i'm saying!). Then scan your computer for viruses with an antivirus program for your PC, and you should be fine. But to avoid this next time, never download any of these spammy programs like travian, habbo, imvu, zwinky, and just about anything that comes as banners, or advertisements on the sides of popular websites. Unless they are trusted - Google talk (Gtalk), yahoo messenger and of course, Windows live Messenger (MSN).
Hope this helps make your pc faster!

Does zwinky give you viruses?

Yep. It gives you viruses because it loads adverts on to your PC. The addon it gives you is called the "Myweb Searchbar" which puts advertising/tracking cookies onto your PC.

Visit Wikipedia for more info.

Does zwinky give you viruses?

Yes, this website is associated with various malware distributors including smileycentral.com.
Upon access to this site, it will unwillingly install a malicious toolbar which will inflict much damage upon your computer e.g (homepage change). It is imperative that you don't visit zwinky.

Thanks.

Does Zwinky Still Contain A Virus?

Yes they changed their minds now they are making free stuff for everybody not only that but they also payed for a domain and a server just to make you free stuff!! :) just kidding no stay away from it.

Does Zwinky give your computer viruses?

one of the worse types in fact. A Trojan virus. A Trojan, as you know, disguises itself as something good, when it indeed is the opposite. It will infect your computer prior to execution. once you open it, your infected.

I would recommend running a weekly scan with lavasoft Adaware Personal Second edition. It is free and does the best job of cleaning your computer of any software that I have used.
