What are the known issues with push notifications on jailbroken iPhones?
There should be no current issues if you are using the latest version of jailbreak tools. Perhaps your router is blocking the port that push notifications run on. If you are using any sort of tweaks that change the push notifications, this may be the culprit. The Google app does not push notifications for your email, only badges and sounds. If you want popup alerts for each email you get in your inbox, you will need to get something for the App Store, or get a jailbreak tweak like elert.

How to get notification center on ios 4.2.1 ipod?
Its not possible. 4.2.1 firmware isn't built to support notification center. Since all the system coding in 5.x revolves around Notification Center, it only works for 5.0 and above. In order to get it on 4.x you would need to entirely reprogram Notification Center.
IOS 5 push notifications not working?
I installed iOS 5 and ever since the push notifications on my phone have not been working for anything except the regular messaging app. If I open my Facebook or mail app I have notifications and new e-mail that I do not get push notifications for. After I open the app the do appear in the notification bar though. I have double checked and notifications for these apps are turned on and set to notify me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?
I can not see any update notifications of iOS 8 on my iPhone 5? Is it because I had done a jailbreak or do I need to connect it to iTunes?
Jailbroken iphones do not get whats called OTA(Over The Air) updates i.e updates dont pop up in your settings app like they do for normal phones and its nothing to be worried about.If you want to update connect your phone to your computer, head over to itunes and hit the update button an it will be done but be sure to perform a backup first.A word of caution: since this process is irreversible so u'll lose your jailbreak until ios8 gets jailbroken, in NO case you'll be able to downgrade it back to ios7!Hope this helps :)
