Kia Rio Or Suzuki Alto

Kia vs hyundai which is better?

Well, I'll put it this way. If my memory serves me correctly, back in the early 2000's Hyundai's were considered average at best in reliability while Kia was way below average according to studies. Now Hyundai is considered solidly above average and Kia's are now around average. That was for the last generation of cars. If quality improvements remain on track for these new Hyundai's and Kia's then, at the very least, Kia's will be graded as average or even slightly above.
Now having said all this; I have to mention that the quality gap between most cars isn't as wide as some people make it out to be. ALL brands have their share of problematic cars but chances are that you will get a decent car. According to studies Hyundai is still the 'better' car but that doesn't mean you will get 100,000 more miles out of it over a Kia. Longevity depends on how well you take care of a car.

What's wrong with my car if I can smell gas while I am driving?

Presuming a fuel injected car, I'd guess the answer is that you have a fuel leak.  It would most likely be from a hose or hose fitting in the engine compartment.  A strong smell of gas would indicate that it's leaking in the engine compartment, and being vaproized.  Perhaps a drop hitting the exhaust, or a tiny spray from a small hole that leaks when you hit a bump that hits the engine block.  This vapor would get sucked in the air intakes at the base of the windshield and into the cabin for your sniffing pleasure. Most of the fuel system other than the fuel lines is behind the driver, and less likely to be sucked into the cabin to be smelled.  Unless you are smelling it when you stop, not while driving.  In that case, it'd more likely be from the back of the car, not a fuel line.  Though, when I say "fuel line" I should note that the fuel filter is usually in-line in the fuel line in the engine bay.  A leak in the "fuel line" would include the possibility of a leak in the fuel filter, or the connectors around it.So it's important to note whether the smell is only while driving, only while stopped, or primarily one or the other, as well as the car make and model. If you are smelling gas while driving a VW Bug, the opposite of what I said would apply.  The tank is in the front, and the engine and fuel filter in the back for the VW.

What is the lightest production car?

The winner is !!!The Peel p50 holds the record as smallest production car and i doubt that you can find anything lighter total weight 56kg (123 lb) they made 47 of these cars with a topspeed of 37mph and milage of 83 mpg.One of the lightest production cars made in great numbers it will be hard to beat the Suzuki Alto first generation, also known as the Maruti 800, 530kg for a 3 doors and 570kg for a 5 door version. My sisters first car was one of these and the amount of stuff you could transport in it with the bench down was amazing, once transporeted a complete interior for a Ford Taunus in it, seats, bench, panels dash etc etc, it fitted with ease.It was a fun drive on narrow bendy roads, it felt like you were driving in a kart.

Which is a better buy in terms of performance and quality? VW Polo or Maruti Baleno?

Oh my. You really are comparing two cars on opposit ends of the spectrum. The only parallels here are that they somewhat fall in the same price category. In terms of safety, all VW cars are on a different league all together. Maruti is nowhere close. In terms of performance? Depends on your definition. If it's just straight line speed, "perhaps" somewhat similar. Though if you take the Polo GT TSI, then it destroys the Baleno. If performance is speed, engine, handling, suspension, then again the Polo trumps the Baleno, no questions asked. In terms of build quality, the Polo is German made. Definitely way superior. The sales executives, while undergoing training, at VW are asked to open the doors, and stand on the windows and jump on it just to show customers the strength. Doubt any Maruti employee would even consider it. The cross beams for structural rigidity are imported as no equivalent exists in India. And the Polo happens to be the ONLY hatchback on sale in India to get a 5 Star NCAAP safety rating. Enough said. I say you are comparing two very different cars as the brand ideologies are different. The Polo is for someone who likes driving, dynamics, safety and is willing to pay for it. The Baleno is for the feature conscious buyer, who wants the latest gizmos.
