Kitten Followed Me Home

A little kitten just followed me home, what was I supposed to do?

First of all, I'm currently a college student in Israel. In Israel, there are a TON of stray cats all over the place. I was walking on my way back to my apartment and a small little kitten started following me. I've been in Israel for a few months now, and I see stray cats all the time because there are so many here. But usually, when a person walks by them on the sidewalk, they run away. This is the first time a kitten followed me in the few months I've been here. And he didn't just follow me for a few seconds - it was practically my whole walk home. When I crossed the street, he did too, etc. I didn't know what to do for a few reasons:

A) I live in an apartment off-campus but the living conditions are all arranged by my college, and in the housing contract, they say pets are not allowed in the apartments.
B) In addition to this policy, I have two roommates and I really would have to get their permission to bring a pet into our joint apartment (of course it's not allowed anyways), and they're both sleeping now since it's the middle of the night in Israel.
C) I didn't know if this kitten might have any diseases that could harm me or my roommates.
D) I didn't know if, maybe, the kitten does have an owner that he escaped from, though I think this might be unlikely.
E) Since there are so many stray cats in Israel, finding a stray cat on the street wasn't out of the ordinary. But since he followed me home, I didn't know what to do.

When I got to my apartment building, I walked in and when I shut the door behind me, I could hear the kitten started crying and I really did feel so badly, but I don't know what else I could do. What should I have done? Thank you, and please don't think that I don't care about the kitten's safety. I just wasn't sure what to do, given the reasons above.

Kitten follows me then runs away?

Your cat may have been a semi feral kitten before you adopted him. He needs more socialization. Give him time to come to you. He follows you because you are now his family, but he is scared. I have fostered many feral kittens and if they are feral it can take 3 to 4 months for them to come around, but when they do, they are the best cats.
I would sit down and when he comes to you, give him a food treat. After a few times of this I would lightly stroke him and speak softly while he gobbles down the treat. Do not chase him or force him to interact with you. Since he isn't hiding from you it shouldn't take too long for him to come around. Congratulations on your new friend

I brought a kitten home and now my dog follows her around everywhere?

I have a female Pekingese who is 8 years old and is fixed, no puppies ever. She was given to me because she lived in a home with a bunch of other dogs and she was having problems with them. She hates other dogs and wants nothing to do with them. She has been with me for approximately 6 years and is happy in my home.

Two days ago I got a older kitten from the humane society, a female tabby and worried my dog would not like her, but she surprised me with following the kitten around, no growling, no barking and the kitten took to her right away. Neither are traumatized and seem to like each others company.

So my question is, why would my dog accept a kitten but not other dogs?

Thank you for your answers.

Why does my kitten follow me everywhere?

She loves you. It will stop after a while. Remeber to pet her, play with her every day, and give her as much attention as you can. Cats love it when you talk to them. Stroke her and say her name softly.

What are the steps I need to follow if my kitten is missing?

-If they're not far shaking their favourite bag of treats or catnip should do the trick.-Put their litter box outside your door. They can smell it from far away. Some people recommend putting some food outside too but that will also attract unwanted visitors.-Speak with neighbours about your missing kitten so they can keep an eye out. Especially any neighbours with cats themselves as they are more likely to make a mental note when see an outside cat.-Check sheds and garages nearby.-Contact your local SPCA or Humane Society to report your missing kitten. Email them a picture.-In my community the SPCA has a Facebook page specially for lost and found pets. Find out if yours has one too and follow it. (If you're not on Facebook find a friend or family member who can help you)-Search Facebook for local lost and found pet pages. Trust me there will be some! Use your city/town/community name when searching. Once you find some like the page and start posting about your missing pet.-Monitor your local kijiji or Craig's list kitten ads. It's possible someone may have found your kitten and is trying to make a quick buck.-Create a profile on websites like Helping Lost Pets (HeLP)

Why do kittens follow people around?

Oh, my goodness!  Why not?  You're a great big warm human!  You feed them, play with them, buy them little toys, talk with them, groom them, carry them from room to room, let them play and sleep on you like a big, warm piece of moving cat furniture, show them where their litter box resides.  They're tiny little creatures interested in everything around them and they're just soaking up everything they learn!  And there's SO much to learn!

Why does my kitten follow me around the house?

Your cat kitten loves you and enjoys being near you. That’s wonderful. Your kitten probably also feels anxious and/or lonely. She wants you to be near all the time. How old is she? If you adopted her at younger than three months, then she is still missing her mum and viewing you as a surrogate parent. She’ll need your attention practically all the time, to reassure her, comfort her, cuddle her and guide her the way a mother cat would. When you’re not near, she feels insecure and anxious.Loneliness is another factor. If there’s no other feline in the house, you’re her only companion. Kittens normally live with their families and play and cuddle with their siblings. In the absence of mum and siblings, the kitten’s emotional and social needs are completely focused on you.Give your kitten the attention, love, assurance and guidance that she craves. Consider adopting a second kitten, if your circumstances allow it. The two kittens will keep each other company, learn from each other, play together, cuddle, keep each other occupied. Here are my kittens, Uhura (tortie) and Janice (ginger). They love each other so much! They hang out together almost non-stop, constantly cuddling, playing and playfighting with each other. I’m glad I’ve adopted them both. They also love me, and my adult cat Sulu, but they’re happiest when the two of them are together. Justs look at those photos. :-)I hope this helps.

My kitten follows me everywhere....is this normal?

that's because she thinks u are her mom. kittens do always follow there mom when they are young. it will eventually go away when she grows to an adult till then, give her lots of attention as u can. she must really like u.

A stray cat followed me home, should I give it someone else?

One time I was walking home and I saw this stray kitten in the middle of the street. And I was kind of shocked, because I usually don't see kittens out in the open like that. And people were passing by, and some motioned to kick it, so I approached the kitten, and starting going ci ci ci, and it immediately responded and started meowing back at me, and coming toward me. I tried to get it to follow me, which it did. Half the way I just carried it home. Ever since the kitty's been here, it's been rubbing itself over everything, follows you everywhere and just loves to rub itself on your legs, and head buts you as well. Unfortunately I'm in a foreign city, just visiting some relatives, and I already have another cat here, but should I take this cat with me? Can I bring two cats with me? Or will this cat be as excited to be with another family, as it is with me? When I look at the cat, I just feel like it has an old soul. And it behaves as if it already knows me. And I'm so deathly afraid that it will be abandoned again. By the way does this cat sound to you like it was raised by a family and maybe just dropped off, or do you think it was raised on the street? It didn't really fear me, and it loves playing and cuddling. It has a really shiny coat too, but it had some fleas that I gave it Advantage for.
