Law Firm Chiropractic Advice

My parents wont take me to the chiropractor???? what do i do?

The description of your symptoms sound like you could benefit from Chiropractic treatment. Many doctors will offer services on a "sliding scale" (pay what you can afford), or even pro bono (without charge) basis. Contact the Chiropractors in your area, and I bet you'll find one that's sympathetic to your situation. It's quite likely that your problem can be resolved with a few treatments and a stretching routine that you do on your own.

Now if your parents refuse to take you to the doctor, even after you've found someone who's willing to work with you on payment, it gets a little more difficult. Some states have "minor consent" laws, which allow minors to seek medical attention without their parent's knowledge or permission, and the doctor may simply tell you to get to her office however you can, and she'll treat you. But even if your state doesn't have minor consent, it is illegal for a parent to withold medical treatment from a child and the doctor can contact Child Services on your behalf.

Insurance Settlement advice?

I was in a car accident in June. I was the passenger in a car sitting at a red light, when a woman hit us from behind at 45 miles an hour. There is no issue of fault.

Her insurance company is offering 3500 to cover my medical bills, plus 1500 for pain and suffering. I am 21 years old and have never had to deal with insurance companies before. I am happy to have 1500 more than nothing, but I have been told that I should ask for more.

I spent my entire summer vacation at the chiropractors, going 6 days a week for 2 weeks, 3 times a week for a month, 2 times a week for another month, and then less and less to ween me off, till I was finally released about a month and a half ago. Between the gas traveling across the city that many times back and forth and spending my entire summer in the doctors office because of their client... I do not want to settle for less than I deserve.

Does anybody have any suggestions? Should I just go with the 1500 or negotiate? How much should I try to aim for?

I really appreciate any advice

Does HIPPA prohibit police officers from ever entering a patient's treatment area...period?

Okay, I work for a campus police department and the clinic is a campus clinic. So, I don't need a warrant to enter any area of campus...well, with the exception of an area that is also used as a habitation. Another exception would be student records, which would cover patient records, etc.

The issue that I am dealing with is I've responded to meet ambulance calls and one combative patient call where they almost didn't let me in. I pushed past the staff trying to keep me from coming in and almost took her to jail for interference.

Since then, our admin has told us to abide by the clinic's policies. I was told, by the clinic staff, that HIPPA strictly forbids all non-patient and non-clinic staff being back in the treatment area. If that is the case, why do the local hospitals employ off-duty city police officers to work in their ERs? Is the clinic just being hyperactive towards HIPPA? Or are they keeping in step with the letter (and spirit) of the l

Claim Reps Insurance Representatives Attitudes?

Actually.....your question posted here is rude and arrogant. If that's your attitude at work...I can see why you get your head bitten off.

So....pot....meet kettle. Got news...you're both black.

I've been an adjuster for 12 years. I am very friendly and helpful at work. I usually have a very good relationship with folks I deal with. (The good news...I don't have to sugar coat it in this forum. So I can tell it to you like it is.)

I also call adjusters with a lot of other companies. Companies with reputations as very horrible places to work. (Companies that I won't name here....but any adjuster reading my answer knows who I am talking about).

But I can tell you this....I very rarely speak to an adjuster that is snotty and rude. Even at the bad companies. It happens some times. Sure there are the rare occasion when I want to jump through the phone and throttle the adjuster on the other end. Often those adjusters are new.....and any adjuster that's been around a bit can tell and knows how to handle them. But the vast majority of adjusters I deal with are professionals.

Since you don't care that an adjusters job is stressful....I won't waste my time educating you about the challenges we face and what we do. You don't care and I suspect your "don't care" attitude comes through in your conversations with the adjusters. That "don't care" attitude is coming through loud and clear here.

But I can tell you this....if you are catching attitude from every adjuster you deal with.....then the common denominator is you. Odds are, You are the problem. You need to re-think your approach.
