How can I sync OneNote with different computers?

I've used OneNote for 9 years and love it. You would need to either:store the OneNote notebook on a computer or NAS on a local network, and open that notebook from each computer on your LAN or use a VPN connection from outside your LAN, or...Store it on a hosted/cloud server and access it from anywhere using a VPN connection, or...through Office 365. Get signed up on an appropriate plan for your needs and then store your notebook in a shared OneDrive or SharePoint/Sites library and then access it from every computer that has shared access. Office 365 requires monthly or annual payment for most business users. In all three scenarios you can make changes to OneNote and all other connected users see updates very soon after as synching takes anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. If any of your computers make changes when they aren't connected to the original shared notebook, those changes sync the next time you are connected. Your best option depends on your needs, where the computers are and your version of OneNote!

On computers whats the difference between briefcases and folders?

Briefcase overview:
If you frequently work on files outside your main computer (using a portable computer, for example), you can use Briefcase to synchronize the files with their counterparts on your main computer when you finish working on them.

When you reconnect your portable computer to your main computer (or insert a removable disk containing the modified files), Briefcase automatically updates the files on your main computer to the modified versions. You do not need to move modified files out of Briefcase or delete the existing copies on your main computer.

Briefcase stores files and displays their status. For instance, it can show you whether a file is linked to the original file on your main computer, or whether it is an orphan file. This information helps you keep files organized and prevents you from accidentally deleting or copying over the most recent version of a file.

Information found on the help menu, from within a briefcase.

As for folders... You can use them much the same way as a briefcase, but you would have to manually transfer files, if working on two computers, etc. There are no synchronize options within a regular folder, whereas within a briefcase, there are synchronize options on the left side, to help you with transferring data between computers.

My personal experience has been that the briefcase works well for personal use, but if working with large files, the synchronizing really bogs down, and takes too long.

Have a nice day!
