List Of Short Stories Authors From Philippines

What is the author's purpose for the short story rapunzel? http://www.eastoftheweb.com/short-stories/UBooks/?

Actually, the purpose of these stories or fairy tales wasn't to entertain children of the time, but the adults!!!! I know shocking!! The purpose here was to give moral lessons and entertainment at the same time. Here the Brothers Grimm give you the story of a man who steals for his wife then pays for it by having to give up his child to the woman he steals from. (Don't steal), The enchantress locks Rapunzel in a tower and keeps her all to herself until the king's son sees her and discovers how the woman gets in, (again Don't Steal) and pays for it with his eyesight when he hits the thorns. This ideology continues throughout most of the B.Grimm stories as well as other writers of this genre of the time period. Hans Christian Anderson is another example.

How many pages should a short story have?

Authors always talk in terms of words - not pages. A short story can be as little as two words. They have two word short story contests. There are also 100 word story contests and 500 story contests. Once you get over about 15,000 words, you hit the novella range. Anthologies and magazines don't generally want stories over 10,000 words.

A list of three to five details that are told to you directly in the short story “The Most Dangerous Game.”?

When you read a story, the writer directly tells you many things about the story’s different elements, such as the characters, the plot, and the setting. But I stiil need help.

Short story called barney?

Barney is a friend from our imagination, this is a fantasy seting but also one that is familiar and where you can feel safe. The setting contributes to the trust that builds between the antagonists and Barney as well as between Barney and the reader.

Well the main conflict is with loneliness and it is ultimately resolved by the arrival of Barney who comes "whenever we may need him", Barney offers support as well as timely advice to his friends.

The opening foreshadows the the ida that Barney will always come which removes a lot of the suspense. Barney comes because the person wants and needs him to come. The suspense is mainly about whether the person believes in themselves enough to know that Barney is a good enough friend to help. It is mentioned many times that Barney is a friend, and he is even described as a 'sensation'. Barney's appearance also foreshadows the issue of homosexuality although that doesn't emerge until the end when it turns out that Barney isn't gay and that he just likes the colour pink, this helps the main character learn about acceptance as well as not judging people by appearances. He also learns to trust people when he realises that Barney doesn't have secret romantic desires for him and is just genuinely friendly.

I've just done half the report for you, you'd better pick me as best answer when you get an A!

How many characters should a short story have?

Lots of lousy advice here, Tim. Take it--including mine--with a grain of salt.

A short story's length is based on word count, not pages. Most published short stories fall between 2,000 and 7,500 words. Many, many magazines and e-zines have a cap well below 7,500, often less than half that. I'd aim for somewhere between 3,000 and 4,500.

Which is why there are all kinds of limits on characters. There's no official maximum number, of course, but you don't have the room to play around with characters in such a short word count. Include only those characters whose existence is necessary for the story to work. All others, no matter how well-formed and delightful they may be, should not appear. (Save 'em for your novels.)

One of the greatest difficulties short story writers face is cutting stories to the bone, from characters to reduced word count. Efficiency is king in short stories.
