Live In Nanny Rate Am I Being Paid Enough

How much should I pay my nanny?

Vacations should be paid I mean people don't seem to think a nanny is a proper job what would you say if your work told you that you get no paid holidays,

I would offer a retainer which means the same amount every week no matter how much or little is worked this will work out when you want the odd nights out and will also go toward her holiday pay,

I think 500- 700 is more then enough depending on her qualifications and experience you could Also offer a set amount for petrol say a tank or 2 a week depending on distance

be fair though someone who is not happy in there job doesn't do there job properly and you don't want them to be lazy with your children

also remember this will be there full time job so out off the $ they will have to live off it which mean rent food going out and u can't expect them to be broke a week or two while you go holidays when she doesn't even get a choice when she gets holidays unless your willing to give her anual leave off her choice
if you have a spare room you can hire a live in nanny and that won't cost more then 250-350 a week but usually you will have to provide food ect

also check with your local laws as if you do not pay at least the legal minimumn wage you can get charged with slave labour

GOODLUCK

I nanny 3 kids...how much should I be getting paid?

Well thats up to you, if you can find a better paying job that you will like then go for it. It sounds on the lower side but I dont know any details like how many hours you work a day or the parents situation in life (are they poor, average, rich). Maybe you could ask them for a raise after a while or let them know it isnt enough to support you if thats true and see what they say. Good luck to you.

How much does a nanny get paid?

Here's what I dug up:

Average Salaries
# Nanny Locators reports that the average salary for live-in nannies ranges between $400 and $600 per week for a 45- to 50-hour work week. Nannies who do not live with the children average between $500 and $700 per week for an equal amount of hours.
Experience
# The amount of experience a nanny has greatly influences his or her rate of pay. Post-secondary education, such as a certificate or associate's degree in early childhood education, also frequently results in higher pay rates than those with no educational credentials.
Responsibilities
# If nannies are expected to perform duties in addition to child care such as light housekeeping or meal preparation, employers typically pay them a higher rate.
Number of Children
# Typically, the more children a nanny is responsible for her, the more he or she is paid.

So, it's variable based on experience (like any other job), whether room and board are included, how many children are being cared for, and if there are any other responsibilities.

By the way, if you do the math, hourly salaries start from around $10 and move up to about $20 (and that is based on one child) Yearly, that is $20,000 to $37,000

What is an EMT nanny?

A caretaker of children who is also certified/trained as an Emergency Medical Technician -- basically, a paramedic nanny.

Is $500/week a reasonable rate to pay a babysitter/nanny?

We live on the north side of Chicago and our daycare costs for 2 children will become outrageous when our son arrives in the spring. I would like to hire an in-home sitter but the most we are comfortable paying is $500/week for a 6:30am to 4:30pm day. My daughter will be two and a half and the baby about 4 months by the time this becomes necessary. I would not be expecting housework or other chores. Is this fair compensation?
