Long Board Beginner Question

Best longboard for beginners?

Never go with generic boards such as eBay or Amazon. They are just as bad a Walmart boards or worse.
Also a good board never has to be $300! All of my boards are under $200 and they from very good brands. I have an Earthwing Supermodel ($170) as my slide/downhill deck and an Earthwing Miniglider as my campus cruiser ($150)
If you want a good value you should look at the Earthwing Superglider. It is only $150 from StokedSkateboards. You should also look at the Kracked Skull Scimitar. They are about $156 from their own site. I would also recommend looking at the Sector 9 Super Shaka. It is a little more expensive, but a very good board.

Best sector 9 longboard for beginner?

The Sector 9 Drainer is a great Board for someone starting to longboard. http://www.apertureboardshop.com/SPD/sector-9-drainer-swallow-tail-og-series-complete-longboard-skateboard-ogf091-c--8878958155065622785.jsp Pool, park, cruising or campus, surfing concrete has never been more fun. The Sector 9 Drainer is great for all around surf style street carving or ditch slashing with a stylish swallow tail. Gullwing Mission 1 trucks that ride loose and have a great surfing feel, 61mm/78A wheels grip the road well without too much slide, easy to turn with a small turning radius, works great around campus if you are looking for a medium sized board, deck has a medium concave at the edges with a flat center locks foot in (even if you are wearing sandals). Retro shape that will let you race down the line and bash the lip with style. For the person who is looking for some extra wheel base but still feels the need to try and break a Sector Nine beautiful handmade skateboard. Slight kick in the tail for tight maneuvering with a mellow concave. You can definitely pump this board to maintain speed. I hope this helps.

Longboard questions!?

So I am new to longboarding and I have a few questions about my board for you more experienced ones. Me and my sister have two longboards, one is a Quest and one is a Paradise. We share them both but since i am the less experienced one of us, I use the Quest more often because its trucks aren't as loose and the Paradise is a pretty advanced board to ride. So I have been using the Quest longboard and was wondering if my board is actually any good? Does it have good bearings or should I get better ones? And is there any way to make it ride longer?
So here are the details:
Quest Super Cruiser Artisan Bamboo Longboard -

Deck size/dimensions: 44 inches x 10 inches x 5.5 inches
Wheel size/hardness: 70mm x 51mm
Bearings: ABEC 5
Truck: 7-inch aluminum inverted kingpin
Wheel hardness: 80A
Materials: 5-ply artisan bamboo and hardwood maple deck

Thanks!

How much is a beginner but good longboard cost?

heres the thing to know about buying longboards. every dollar more you spend, the better th longboard. I'm not saying you get what you pay for, but a 180 dollar setup can be twice as good as a 150 dollar one. the cheapest thing i woule ever buy is 130 dollars, and thats even kinda bare bones http://www.skatesonhaight.com/Sector-9-l... try this site. this is the board I would get if I were on your budget. anything cheaper isnt worth it. id also fork over the 8 bucks for randal 180 trucks

What are some beginner longboard tricks?

I got a longboard about 1 or 2 months ago. I wanted to try to do some simple tricks. I have a custom made longboard that DOESN'T have any kick tails, so I doubt I'll be doing any kick flips or anything else that involves kick tails.
So if you can post a video and/or give instructions on how to do some beginner longboard tricks then I'd be glad.

Best cheap Longboard brands for beginners?

Moose and Atom are not good. They are cheap, low quality boards.

I would say you need to spend at least around $150 for a good setup.
Here are the cheapest boards I would recommend:

What type of longboard deck is good for beginners?

Hey man,
Somebody just asked the same question (to an extent). Let me give you my answer:
You want to have a board that will give you a good first experience, yet won't leave you bankrupt and with a high-tech piece of equipment that you find entirely inoperable. Sector 9 longboards are high performance boards, low cost, fun to ride, and best of all: they all the only thing more lovable than a teddy bear for a 6 year-old.

If you looking to do a lot of cruising (meaning a lot of peddling to get from point-a to point-b) which is also called commuting, go with a board that has something called drop through. That makes it a whole easier. Drop through makes everything easier. Drop through means the trucks have dropped through the top of the board through a hole, instead of just drilling on straight to the bottom of the board (called top mounting).

If you're looking for a downhill board, get the Sector Punta Lobos, with Paris 195mm trucks and some Orangatang 4Prez wheels. Keep in mind that the larger the trucks, the better for downhill, and smaller are better for carving (making small turns to zig-zag while going straight).

The best website for these kinds of questions is www.silverfishlongboarding.com look me up my name is SuperJarhead . If you've got any questions, feel free to message me. Thanks! :) Ride on!
