Losing weight while on Depo Provera?
So, I recently got my first shot of depo and it started working immediately because I got it on the 2nd day of my period. I'm 18 and plan on being on the shot for 2 years at the most because I live with extremely conservative parents and they would definitely find the pills and practically kill me or give me an extremely hard time. Anyways, I've herd all the horror stories on weight gain while on Depo and it makes me nervous. I'm currently in the process of losing 25 pounds and wondering if it truly will stop me from reaching my goal with the lifestyle I have. I eat extremely healthy, all natural food, no soda, no junk, nothing. I eat small portions and whenever I do get those evil cravings I just eat vegetables. I exercise 6 days a week, somtimes everyday for an hour and do all sorts of exercises, long distance running, hot yoga, strength training, swimming etc. I'm only one week into this depo shot and i've lost one pound. Basically, I'm extremely aware of my body and what is happening to my body. I've increased my calcium intake also, to keep my bones strong. I get enough sleep, drink tons of water and I don't skip meals. Please tell me what you think, and let me know of any success stories while on depo. I don't even want to get pregnant until i'm 28-30, so I feel that stopping the shot at 20 years old would give me enough time to get back to normal. I love it so far. My doctor said I would be a good candidate for Depo since I'm so conscious of what it's doing.
I'm losing weight on the Depo Shot!!?
I have been on the depo shot for almost 2 months now and have lost 8-9 pounds! I haven't had the biggest appetite lately and I'm almost positive it's from the shot. I have done so much research and have found that women are gaining weight rapidly. So why am I losing it?! I was 125 pounds and now 116 since on the shot. This has really affected me emotionally as well, as soon as the 3 months is over I'm getting off it. My body and hormones to not work together well! Are any other women having this issue at all?? I feel like I'm the only one who is losing weight on the shot!
Is it normal to lose weight after the Depo-Provera shot?
Normal, no. Possible, absolutely. Depo-Provera made me vomit constantly, at least twice a day, for months. It completely took away my appetite and interest in food. I lost 30 pounds in three months.The doctor insisted that this was not caused by Depo and I took a second shot. The vomiting and weight loss continued. I never had another one, and the symptoms resolved. That six months of anorexia and vomiting wrecked my previously perfect teeth. I was seriously underweight and looked like crap. I do not recommend this weight loss plan.For many women, Depo makes them gain weight, so not sure why it had this side effect for me. I have heard anecdotally that women who suffer from Hyperemesis Gravidarum tend to have this response to Depo as well. I did have rather severe morning sickness with pregnancy, so possibly those with more severe pregnancy symptoms are more likely to have an adverse response?

How to lose weight after getting off the depo shot..?
Hello. I started the depo shot in September 2011 and it completely stopped my period. However, I didn't start gaining weight until September or October of 2012, and I have gained almost 20 pounds. I was supposed to get my shot again 2 months ago so I didn't get it because that was when I realized what was causing me to gain weight. It's weird because I can still fit into my clothes and don't look much bigger, just a little bloated, so I believe that it mostly is water retention. And the depo didn't cause me to eat more or anything, my diet stayed the same but still gained weight. Will the weight come off once I get my period again? Or is there any other ways I can lose the weight right now? Please help!
How long does Depo Provera affect your weight after you stop getting shots?
I've been trying to find a real answer to this for a long time, but everything I find on it seems vague. Most people say that the hormones in the Depo shot take about a year to complete exit your system or for them to stop affecting your system at least. I got my last shot in January of this year, so just under a year ago. I'm noticing some changes to my body that I think are from the hormones (not as moody anymore, hair color/growth going back to normal, sex drive returning) but the weight still is a problem. Has anyone else experienced the weight gain from Depo and if so how long did it take you to get back to normal weight? Did you have to step up your exercise routine to lose the weight or did your body start shedding the extra weight on its own? What about diet pills, did you have to resort to that? I'd rather stay away from those because I don't want to risk my health but I've already adopted a much healthier diet and am exercising (though maybe not enough) but am not seeing much change in weight. I'm 23, was on Depo for a total of 9 months (three shots) and am not overweight but want to get back in shape. Ideally I'd like to lose 15 of the 25 or so pounds I gained. I have actually used both, so I can tell you my experiences. I hated Depo. I gained a ton of weight while on it (over 40lbs) even though I maintained a healthy diet and exercise. 70% of all users gain some weight, 50% gain significant amounts. My skin broke out horribly. I had really bad mood swings, depression, and migraines. I had one period every 3 months, but I was never sure when it would come. My hair fell out in handfuls, and I lost my sex drive completely. Even more concerning is the new research that has found Depo seriously deplete bone density levels... and this side effect is permanent. I have been using the IUD Mirena (the one with the hormones) for over 2 years now and I love it. I haven't had a period since it was inserted. I know this concerns some people, but only 20% of all users stop mensturating. The rest have shorter and lighter periods. It is the most effective birth control on the market. Expulsion (the IUD coming out) is very rare, but more likely if you have never had a child before. If this is your case, you may want to discuss this with your doctor. It is still very rare, though. Having the IUD get imbedded is also very rare, and that has more to do with the insertion. If your doctor has inserted this birth control before and knows what he or she is doing, you really don't have much to worry about. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.

its extremly possible because it is progestrone, which is a chemical your body releases naturally when your pregnant. and so you can have food cravings and mood swings.
How soon does weight gain begin when first starting Depo Provera?
When I was on depo provera (before I got pregnant) I gained around 30 lbs and had gotten 2 injections.I started to gain weight in the 2nd month after I got my first shot. I hated it because of the inconsistency of my period. I would lightly bleed for like 3 weeks at a time...then nothing. It was odd and I gained alot of weight. Although my doctor had wanted me to stay on it I switched to the pill b/c I didn't like it. If you're having second thoughts then maybe depo isn't for you. try different b/c and see what works best for you :]
Depo-Provera shot and diet pills?
I recently got the Depo-Provera birth control shot and I'm also taking SlimQuick diet pills. I need to know if taking them both will cancel out my birth control. I forgot to ask the doctor before I left, and I'd like to know as soon as possible. Does anyone know?
