Marine Corps Dep Question

Army DEP to Marine Corps DEP questions?

Well as you probably already know, DEP isn't an obligatory program. You can actually leave at any moment you want to. However, as soon as you do your last swear in before you ship out you have no say in whether you go or not. If you've only sworn in to the DEP you're okay and you have nothing to worry about. You simply need to talk to your recruiter about switching out, they'll ask you why and try to keep you in. That's their job so don't hold it against them. Once you make it clear that you aren't staying with them you'll have to wait, and the wait can take up to 30 days. You're waiting for your name to be cleared off the Army DEP so that you can actually enlist with another service. Once that's done you can go off to the Marine recruiter.

Entering the Marine Corps DEP is just the same as the Army DEP. The only difference is that you don't have to take the ASVAB again, those scores are valid for about two years. You do need to take a Marine Corps physical though, and the only difference is that you'll take the falant test. You still need to process in with the Marine Corps so you'll have the MEPS experience all over again. The process is pretty much the same. The only difference is that when asked if you've spoken to another service before you'll have to say you did and that you were in the Army DEP, they might then ask why you left and you just need to give them your reason. You'll be okay though.

Remember, if you're leaving the Army DEP and your recruiter tells you anything to the effect of you being reprimanded for leaving the DEP, they are lying. Nothing can happen to you, the only thing that will happen is that you will have to wait quite some time, about a year, before attempting to join the Army again. However, I don't think you'll try again anyways.

Question about PA dui and marine corps DEP?

Well this could turn out good or bad. The marines have a very liberal policy on criminal records. You need to inform your recruiter immediately so that they can get a "waiver" for this issue. If you try to hide this and head off to basic, they will find out and then you'll probably be facing discharge for withholding information. Talk with your recruiter as they want you to get shipped out, they'll pull some strings and most likely help you out. If you plan on pleading not guilty in court you can expect to miss you ship date. Also contact the police department immediately and get the ticket that has your court date. Good luck

Question about drug testing while in Marine Corps DEP?

I never smoke weed or do any drugs at all, but last week as a prank my friend gave me some rice crispy treats he made with weed baked into them, I think he called them edibles or something. I'm in the DEP right now and I ship out the end of september. do they drug test you while in DEP and how long will it take for the weed to leave my body. im so pissed off I really don't want to be kicked out for something stupid like this. Thank you

Marine Corps meps/dep/mos question?

While I was at Meps I received a form for my Dep process. On the form it says:

"I understand that I am joining DEP. I understand that by joining the DEP I am enlisting in the Ready Reserve component of the United States (list branch of service) ____Marine_Corps___0600___ for a period not to exceed 365 days..."

Does 0600 mean that I had signed to go into the Communications field or is it a number associated with the Ready Reserve Component?

I'm trying to get a specific Occupational Field. Communications is not it, so that is why I'm wonderig if I had signed for the wrong job. I'm also trying to go into Active Duty not Reserves.

Thanks for any info.

Rules/regs for the Marine Corps DEP?

could anyone tell me me any rules or regs about the DEP? for example we were told you can't get tattoos once you're in the DEP by our recruiter. My boyfriend is in the DEP and i will be in in June. My boyfriend ships out on June 15 for basic. We have been talking about getting married before he leaves but we don't know if you can if you are in the DEP. we haven't asked our recruiter because he would just tell us no so we wouldn't do it.

Marine Corps DEP Disqualification?

Well this is kind of long. I am in the DEP for the Marine Corps and I lied about myself having hemorrhoids. They used to be a bother but then they quit bothering me. The bleeding is now coming back and I forgot when I was 15 I took a medication called Accutane, which I now believe is why I have gastrointestinal problems. How would I approach this to my recruiter? I did lie about hemorrhoids, but I never thought it'd be a problem. I want to be a Marine, but my ship date is July 11th and there is no way to fix my stomach problems.

US Marine Corps DEP Benefits?

I constantly get asked questions such as these: Should I enlist into the DEP?, How do I qualify for the DEP?, Can I fail the DEP? How much do I get paid in the DEP?, What uniforms do I wear in the DEP?, Can I skip the DEP?.

These questions are proof that many of you are not clearly understanding what the DEP program is for. You do not have a choice in regards to being in the DEP. And you should not be looking at your enlistment process as if you will be enlisting into the DEP because you will be enlisting into the Marine Corps and not the DEP. Just like MEPS, the DEP is just a part of the enlistment process. The DEP is made to give you future Jarheads confidence and it is made to make you hard chargers feel good about yourselves by making it seem like you are now in the USMC and a part of something special. That is all it is. Do not make things out to be something they are not.

While in the DEP you are supposed to be learning your USMC knowledge, doing some good ole Marines Corps PT, and learning about the USMC’s ways by speaking with actual Marines and by going to various functions/events that are USMC related. Not every recruiting station will run their DEP program the same way. Some recruiters are more motivated and have more resources available to use, while some recruiters really don’t put much effort into the DEP. So just because you heard of one Future Marine who did certain stuff while in the DEP, this does not mean you will also being doing the same ****.

Some recruiters who are more hard core will demand that you be there for every meeting and they will even threaten you with that if you don’t show up, then you may be kicked out of the DEP. Chances are really good that if you get kicked out for not showing up to a meeting, then you are probably being kicked out because you are a crappy prospect and you are an at risk Poolee and not because of missing a meeting. It is ALWAYS in your best interest to attend every meeting, but you should NEVER allow for these meetings to get in the way of your regular life in things such as work, school, family emergencies or engagements and things of this nature. Remember, you are not a Marine yet and they can not force you to attend anything.

Marine Corps DEP (Delayed Entry Program) Questions?

1. The max time you can be in DEP is 12 months.
2. DEP is nothing special. If you want to go to the monthly DEP things you can probably just talk to your recruiter now and ask if you can tag along.

3. You have to be a guide or squad leader AND recommended by your DIs in boot camp to get meritorious promotion to E2. If you're the best guide in the whole company you can even get E3.
As the guy above me mentioned, you can also refer a buddy to join the Marine Corps and get E2 that way.

Good luck!
