You may want to compare you current AV with the ones on the list as well as the price points which suit you.At the same time, the free AV software has become quite good. Is it good to renew antivirus subscription? Or to buy a new antivirus software?

It depends on which particular antivirus product you are using/going to renew and against of how much rupees. If you are really satisfied with its overall protection and if you think that the renewal subscription price is quite affordable enough at least for you, you may go with that but otherwise try to purchase the license copy of an another antivirus product as they contain different malwares signatures database which eventually may secure your computer if any threat till now didn't get identified by your current AV engine.Notably, a new license costs less rupees than its renewal plan for most of the antiviruses. If you want to know my point of view, I will prefer a different antivirus product as it is more affordable.

Is the Mcafee website (www.mcafee.com) down?

Unfortunately, I'm in a similar situation. It is, in fact, a quite substantial virus. It can attack and bypass just about any security program you run! It isolates the security so it can infect your computer. I'm still searching for a solution, but I've been fighting for almost a week now.

ATTENTION!!! - USE THE LINK BELOW TO CLEAR UP YOUR PROBLEM! I USED IT AND AM BACK IN BUSINESS AGAIN!

Just click the download button - it is free!!! You don't need the one that you have to buy! Awesome!

Should I renew my norton internet security subscription?

If you're in the Army you can get Symantec and McAfee for free by going on your AKO under Self-Service, clicking on "Download Products for Home Use," and downloading it from there. If you're not in the Army then you may want to go ahead and get something for your computer since there's all kinds of crap out there to slow down your computer.

EDIT: No, you don't have to pirate it from the Army. It is a free download but you have to have an AKO account to get it.

Accidentally clicked "block" and Firefox won't work now, I really need help!!?

I was on Firefox & a note from my securtiy thing popped up & said "Firefox is trying to get through, would you like it to?" And there were two buttons that said "Allow access" and "Block" and I accidentally hit "Block" and now Firefox won't work for me.

I have internet explorer, which is working fine, and whenever I try going onto Firefox it tells me "Unable to connect: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server". How do I fix this? Please help, it is greatly appreciated!

And I have McAfee security center, btw, if that helps at all. Thanks!

Connected to wireless internet network but no internet access?

Two days ago, my old router needed to be replaced. My whole home's internet was (obviously) down. Yesterday we replaced the router and the internet was fuctioning perfectly on our desktop and all the wireless devices except one of my family's two laptops. Unfortunately for me; the laptop is mine.
The laptop is an Acer Aspire, purchased last June. It is Windows 7. The internet icon on the bottom right corner of the laptop has a yellow caution sign over it. We reset our wifi network when we replaced our NETGEAR router. Everything was able to connect to the new Wireless Network Connection, including the problematic laptop. The problem is it has "No Internet Access" (although connected to the network!). When diagnosing the connection problem from Internet Explorer 9, it suggests that I unlock the firewall from my computer that may be blocking the connection. I have McAfee AntiVirus, (it controls the firewall) and it seems it's blocking the inernet? I've tried turning the firewall off and numerous other things; none of which have seemed to work.
Can anyone help solve this issue? And if I uninstalled Mcafee will I have to repurchase the subscription to reinstall it later? Thanks!

What are some anti-virus programs better than McAfee?

I can get extremely opinionated, due to the decades I've spent in the industry. But if you will allow me a quick thought experiment, rephrase your question as:What antibiotic is better than penicillin? When you start considering g the question in that frame of reference, it quickly becomes apparent that it is an absurd question to begin with. But to answer your question directly, if you are most interested in a good balance of efficacy (that is correctness of detection), a reasonable price point, and speed, simply purchase Malwarebytes.Worked as security research at: Symantec, Sana security, avg technologies, stealth security, varmour networks, PayPal, eBay, LinkedIn, and Microsoft. Once hung out with Whitfield Diffie (very hoopy frood :D)
