How do I factory reset my Asus Aspire One (AOA150)? It is running Windows 7 Home Premium. And I neither have any disk nor any equipment other than the computer itself.

You meant Acer Aspire One? Asus is a different manufacturer. The computer should have a recovery partition. If I recall correctly in Windows 7 these were not part of the actual OS like in Windows 8.1. Check for some Acer program that can do it. Also there is some key combination you can use at bootup to get to the recovery partition. It seems to be Alt-F10.How to Start System Restore at Boot Up on an AcerRemember to back up all your data. Consider also data that is hidden somewhere depending on what applications you use. Typically programs that handle a single database (email, book keeping etc.) instead of various names files (word processing, spreadsheet, images, music) have data hidden somewhere.

How to restore Factory defaults on Acer Aspire 4315 Laptop?

Im having problems trying to restore my factory settings because a while ago I installed XP on the D partition. I've found out recently this was used for PQService when restoring the settings but at the time i didn't know. I used to use VistaBootPro to allow me to change operating systems between them which worked perfectly. When i try press the Alt + f10 combination at startup it doesn't do anything and when I try eRecovery on Vista it just reboots itself and nothing changes. I've used a program called EASEUS Partition which allowed me to see that hidden partition and set it as active to see if that would work but it didn't provide any use :(. Is there a way in which I can get my factory settings back? Would formatting the D partition with XP on allow the Alt + f10 cominbation to work? Thanks for the help :)

My laptop is really slow despite a full restore to factory settings and a quite powerful spec. Why?

Very good answers here already, but let me add a possibility or 2. You mentioned that it is restored to factory spec. Contrary to popular belief, restoring a Windows machine built by most "name" manufacturers to factory is a very poor standard or starting place for getting good performance.  Is Windows update on?  If so, when windows update is downloading, wired or WiFi, it can take up a really stupid amount of resources. To the point of ANY browser or program being glacially slow to open, no matter how ballsy the hardware.  Particularly if it's Win 7 and you are consequently downloading 200+ updates, in just the first batch. Also, depending on the OEM, you likely have tons of bloatware on the machine, much of it running at boot, hogging your CPU and RAM. And likely trying to update itself, as well. And every time you restore it to factory, all the bloat comes back, and all the updates have to start over. There are also several typical and possible hardware issues, some already mentioned. Thermal throttling and/or maybe a bad RAM stick (or one that just needs re-seated), possibly a few bad sectors on the HD, and others...  All in all, there are MANY possible issues.  I would start by dumping the OEM bloatware, get as few things running at boot as possible.  Then either turn Windows Update off for a little while, just to test, or force-feed Windows updates until the point of Win 10 install. Then see how it performs.  If it's still ugly, start looking at hardware.

Acer aspire 5750g blank screen and won't turn off?

After only a few weeks' use of this lapto - which uses windows home premium and IEv9. [I keep antivirus and spyware up to date, by the way]: One minute I was happily copying and posting some info from the web into a word document, the next minute - when I looked at the screen after 3 mins away from the laptop - the screen was grey but completely blank and the machine would not turn off. Had to remove battery and power to get it to turn off. Not sure whether to try plugging it back into power...or what?? Thanks heaps, in advance, for any help re this strange problem.

Acer Aspire 5516 Reset Help?

I Asked A Question About Reseting My Acer Aspire 5516 A Few Days Ago. I Tried To Reset It By Pressing Alt+F10 In The Bootscreen And It Booted Onto The Acer eRecovery Management (V7.0.5) Then When I Click On "Completely Restore System To Factory Defaults" It Goes Through The Whole Procedure And Everything But In The Last Step It Tells Me "Restore failed- Error Code=1005(the volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted.)" Then I press OK it pretends to boot but it just goes back to the same Acer eRecovery Management (V7.0.5) and no matter how many times I turn on and off the computer it always appears........first the Acer logo pops up then it says "windows is loading files" it asks me to wait a while and it then sends me to the eRecovery Management....even if I press exit it boots back into that... Then Someone Gave Me An Answer Saying The Following "You have lost the MBR. (Master Boot Record) most probably through a virus, you will need to delete the partition then create a new partition format it FAT32, then reinstall you operating system

Wiping Out HardDrive On Acer Aspire 3515?

Backup your data.
Turn it off, then press ALT+F10 and turn on your laptop. It will initiate the factory restore which will wipe out any data on the hard drive.
Then copy the backed up data back.

Factory restore ususally wipes out anything on the hard drive.
Also you need to create restore DVD if not done already. I think it's called eRecovery on under programs menu. They let you create one copy of recovery DVD set(usually 2-3 DVDs), then you need to make backups of those because DVDs are known to go bad after a while. If you need the recovery DVDs and your warranty ran out, then I think acer.com or acersupport.com sells them for around $40.(So create them before hard drive goes bad).
