My Cat Is 3 Months 18 Days And He Weighs 6lbs Is That Healthy

For my overweight cat - Should I leave the food out 24/7 or feed him at certain times?

My Devon Rex six year old cat is very overweight, but we actually have three cats. The other two are very skinny and we just leave the food out the whole day but Nana (the overweight one) just eats soooo much food! So I really don't know what to do, because I thought if I just feed them at a certain time then he will hog all the food like usual. But if I leave it out then he will just keep eating and eating. I am also trying to get him to excersie a ton more, he is very playful and just eats when he's bored I guess. Cuz sometimes I see him go for the food bowl and I actually take him down if I saw him there earlier and I feel so bad but he ends up just walking away . . . it hurts me to see him so overweight! I am only 14 and I am doing all I can to keep him healthy, for m mom and dad are very busy with stuff. Sorry for the long question, and thanks sooo much ahead of time!

What should I feed our 16 year old cat to help her maintain her weight (she is losing weight rapidly but is otherwise happy)?

If you are not already feeding her a good-quality wet food that she enjoys, then I would make sure you begin to do so. Cats get most of their water from what they eat, and many cats’ kidneys are chronically compromised over their lives because they are fed primarily dry food. A cat’s diet should be more wet food than dry, but the dry is necessarily to keep their teeth and gums exercised. Of course, always make sure she has access to a large quantity of fresh clean water, as cats still drink a fair amount. If she is drinking more than normal, though, unreasonably so, please get her checked out. Cats do get human illnesses such as diabetes! What is “good” catfood can be more determined by reading the label carefully than by pricepoint or by reading the advertising on the outside of the packaging. ‘Animal by-products’, for example, can cover everything from animal waste to skin, neither of which (obviously) are nutritious. ‘Gluten-free’ has got to be one of the most intellect-challenged ratings, as cats don’t tend to suffer from celiac disease; and, cat food should not be primarily composed of pea protein. Look for food that lists ‘duck’ or ‘chicken’ vs ‘duck by-products’, for example. Cats may require a small amount of grain and/or rice in their diets, as well as small amounts of vegetables and/or greens: cats hunting out on their own consume the stomachs of their prey, which do contain these things, the nutrients of which supplement their protein diet. Cats also seem to require the chlorophyll which only comes from green things. Also, be cautious not to feed food that lists liver: although some liver is beneficial, too much makes a cat sick.Cats, though, are carnivores, not omnivores.I also notice that, at certain seasons my cats desire milk or cream, but turn their little noses up at other times. If this does not give your cat digestive problems, a small amount does not harm her.If your cat is suffering from hairballs or constipation, cats seem to love canned pumpkin (plain). For some reason, I always find this astonishing.

Is 5 pounds a normal weight for a 4 month old kitten?

He eats so much! 4 meals a day and he keeps meowing and trying to grab food off our table. He's not fat, but he's grown quite a lot in the two weeks I've had him. I have heard of full-grown cats that weigh 6 or 7 pounds, and this half-grown kitten is nearly there. Is his weight normal or is this going to be a gigantic cat?

At 11 months my cat’s appetite has increased dramatically since her last heat cycle (plans to have her spayed are in the works). Should I now begin to regulate her intake? 1 year and I'm told they stop growing. Growth spurt perhaps.

She maybe pregnant. If she was in heat and possibly “exposed" it's a good possibility. So don't limit her intake. She needs the calories. A cat can be pregnant and still in heat. I realized Gracie was in her first heat and took her to the vet. Spaying was scheduled. Moved her from my mother's home to mine where all males are neutered. Dreamiscle very interested in her but he's been fixed. She goes out of heat. Take her in for her scheduled spay. Canceled due to respiratory infection and started on antibiotics. Asked if she could already be pregnant and answer was ambiguous. Thought I had rescheduled but when I called the day before to confirm it wasn't scheduled. Half price spay/neuter appointments go fast. Now I realize little Gracie is polishing off food like crazy, her belly is growing and her nipples are more pronounced. Uh Oh. I can't bring myself to schedule her for what would now be an abortion. So is it Tiger or his son Banjo, both of whom we took advantage of the neuter deal with? That strange big tom around my mom's that's been beating up Tiger? My advice is, spay as soon as the vet will agree to.

How much should a 12 week old boxer (male) weigh?

The vet didnt say anything and he used to breed boxers so i figured he is fine. The mother and father were HUGE and i mean huge so he is probably just destined to be a big boy! I was jus asking cuz whenever some see our dog and we tell the how old he is they r always shocked at how big he is hahah! We dont feed him table food what so ever just great quality dry and wet dog food.

What are the chances of survival for baby born at 7-months?

Chances can vary with different situations, but once you hit 30 weeks the chances are pretty good.My friend was pregnant with a baby girl and due Oct 10th, well on July 31st she started getting contractions, called 911 and gave birth in an ambulance in route to the hospital. She was 3lbs. She was put on cpap machine for breathing and IV therapy for nourishment. When she was around 3 weeks old she started taking a bottle and was taken off the IV therapy and off the oxygen. Unfortunately a few days later she needed the oxygen and got a stomach infection. The docs gave her antibiotics, put her back on the IV and the rest was up to the baby. She fought the infection and a week later was back to bottles and breathing on her own. She is still in the hospital because at night her oxygen saturation drops down to 89, it goes right back up but she needs to stay in hospital and go 5 days with no episodes before going home. She is growing, almost 6lbs now. Other then the O2 she is perfectly healthy. My friend was born early, I think his mother was 6 months along. He was born at 1lb in 1983 and grew up healthy. Another had he4 baby at 7 months and was in the hospital for 2 weeks, no issues, they just wanted her to gain a little weight.Every baby is different, different situations means different outcomes but with all of the resources doctors have babies are given whatever they need to survive.

Keeping weight during the winter?

Try rice bran. It has a higher fat content than any other feed, and you can feed it to them in bulk without having to worry about colic. It is about the only thing I've found that can put and keep weight on my 18 year old TB mare. For weight gain, I have to feed 6lbs of it a day mixed with 6lbs of Senior.

A lot of people like to feed beet pulp. It helps too but it's main function is as a source of digestible fiber. So it's almost like giving them more forage, like grass hay, it's just more digestible. But it's not necessarily that high in fat. Beet pulp can actually be used as a source of fiber/roughage when no hay or grass is available.

Rice bran, on the other hand, contains a lot of calories from fat to put the weight on a horse. It has 1/3 more calories than beet pulp, by weight. (i.e. you'd have to feed 1.3 pounds of beet pulp to get the same calories as you'd get from 1 pound of rice bran). This is a big reason why I prefer it...it's more cost effective. However, rice bran can have a mineral imbalance, so if you feed more than about 2 pounds of it, you should make sure a horse's diet is supplemented with a mineral block and/or a complete feed (hence why I feed Senior as well--since your horse is younger I'd try Strategy or something like that instead instead although Senior would work too).

I've tried the fatcat...it's okay, it helps keep weight on once it's on but I don't think it works that well for gaining weight. I also like rice bran because it fills up their stomach more, gives them something to digest, instead of just being a powdery supplement.
