My Dog Is Coughing/wretching/gagging Like A Cough

Puppy coughing/gagging only at night. HELP!?

Not sure what your weather is like there if hot or cold. Next time your puppy is gagging you can try two things:
1) put the palm of your hand up to her nose to force her to breathe from her mouth. Hold there for a couple of seconds.
2) rub underneath your puppy's jawline for a few seconds.
You should give your puppy pedialyte for vomiting so she does not dehydrate. If your puppy is between 5-10 lbs you can give 1CC of pedialyte maybe once/ twice per day. Pedialyte freezie pops hold the longest. We usually break 1/2 a freezie pop for our dog. You can keep an open liquid Pedialyte in frig up to 48 hours. After 48 hours, you need to throw away.
If you are in cold weather - your puppy could have sinus issues and may always have those issues. You might want to keep Children's liquid mucinex handly and give 1CC of mucinex after food once per day every day your puppy hacks.
For humans, sinus issues are more pronounced at night time when we lie down to sleep. That is why humans with sinus issues at night should elevate their head for sinus drainage.
Your puppy could be choking on her sinus mucus. Our dog with sinus issues got severely sick with respiratory after her shots. It was not treated right away with antibiotics (rescued). You seem to be taking good care of your dog. Your dog is very lucky to have you.

Our dog has suddenly started coughing and gagging but nothing comes up. Is this kennel cough?

If it is KC, can children get it? Can humans pass it on to another dog? Does the virus live on the ground, is it airborne? How long after a case can the virus survive in the surrounding environs? What else could it be? Can we give it children's cough medicine to help ease the coughing? What's the dosage if we can? Will it kill him if it goes untreated for 3-4 days? It's a public holiday here and the vets don't open until next Tuesday. Another dog is scheduled to visit later today, what can we do to protect it?
Our dog was fine in the evening but woke us up in the wee hours with this horrible coughing/honking sound with a retching sound at the end. He had breakfast and ran around some but started coughing again when he did the running. This has continued for the entire day and he only seemed to get some respite when he stayed still. He ate his dinner and did some barking and running but now he's coughing and gagging again and it seems to be getting worse and he seems really tired.

8 week old puppy making coughing sounds then she is gagging.?

She is a Boston Terrier, I am not sure but I think she may have kennel cough. I have never had a dog that got it before so I really don't know what it is. I am taking her the the vet first thing in the morning but I just want to know what I can do for her tonight. Other than the coughing sounds and gagging she has been running around as usual. I looked around to see if there was anything she could have gotten into and I haven't seen anything that would hurt her.

My dog gags and retches but nothing comes out?

there are a few things that kinda fit that description. the most common is what is called reverse sneezing (looks nothing like a sneeze). it is basically that something has irritated the epiglottis and the dogs is kind of trying to clear the throat. it is harmless but can look pretty bad. it can be anything from snorting, like choking or gagging (kind of like a hairball) in individual dogs. this is kind of an example

But if you you google it out, you can get an idea of how it varies. it can be common with allergies, respiratory infections, eating/drinking to fast, eating grass and some breeds are just prone to it, (bulldogs, pugs, all smash faced dogs and beagles (don't know why)
A collapsing trachea can have coughing accompanied with some gagging. It is usually a genetic thing and they learn to live with it. it can become an bigger issue in old age, but the only thing you can really do to try to keep it under control is weight control.
Unproductive vomiting/gagging can be a symptom of GVD or bloat, but that would be an emergency condition when it started. if it has been going on for 2-3 days and she is still alive, that pretty much ruled it out.

My dog is depressed, wont eat, and is retching/gagging alot!!!?

I got him from the pound and he's had his kennel cough shot so I don't think that could be it?? I'm not sure what wrong hell start coughing when ever its not just after running. He'll cough in the middle of the night, and I come home, and after being out side. He won't eat not even treats. Hes scaring me can anyone help?
