Can I get my dog spayed while pregnant?
As others have written, yes you can. Adding to the comment about additional cost, also be aware that there is a much higher additional risk to the dam because of the increased amount of tissue and blood flow to the area. On a more personal note, because dog gestation periods are so short, by the time you know that there are puppies in there they are quite well along in their development. They will eventually die, but they will do it slowly in the trash bin. I’m all for spaying, but this is a tough surgery for me to do. Yes, it’s a tough call, letting another litter come in (and then spaying) vs. spaying pregnant. At this point in my life I wouldn’t do another pregnant spay but would try everything I could to get that litter adopted out and spay ASAP after weaning.
Can a dog get pregnant after being spayed ?
We found a dog about a month ago and no one claimed her so we kept her. We took her to a low cost spay and neuter place and they showed me her incision which proved she had already been spayed. The past week she has been getting out whenever she can and running all over the neighborhood (thought maybe because she was getting used to us, that she was testing her boundaries ya know). We find her often at two other houses (in different directions) where boy dogs live but didn't think anything of it. About 2 days ago I noticed she was licking her vulva area alot but thought that was a mixture of normal to maybe a bug bite. Today I noticed it is very swollen (but no blood). Could she have had a bad spaying and have gotten pregnant? Chocolate Lab between 6 and 8 months (not sure since we found her but thats what the vet estimated)

When your dog is spayed, they remove her uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes, all her reproductive organs. REMOVE THEM. There is no way in hell she can get pregnant, ever.

No. And let me tell you what happened to my sweet girl Lily because of my ignorance. I didn't get her spayed because my parents' dog got very sick when she got spayed. I didn't want to put my girl through that. I figured everything would be ok as long as she wasn't around any male dogs. Well, when she was about 7, I noticed she had a vaginal discharge about a week or two after she was done her heat cycle. I took her to the vet and she had pyometra which is a life threatening uterine infection. It was bad. She needed emergency surgery. She made it through the surgery, but they still only gave her a 50/50 chance at surviving. If that wasn't bad enough, I was told that because she wasn't spayed before she went into heat, her risk of breast cancer sky rocketed. Thankfully, she did recover from the surgery (although it was a long and rough road), but she did end up getting breast cancer. I'm not sharing this to scare you. I just wish someone would have told me before the damage was already done. I will never again not get a female dog of mine spayed.Here is my sweet girl Lily.

Listen "PRINCESS" I was asking the question for a friend who thought her dog was spayed. Apparently she got pregnant, the doctor lost his license. I am so against irresponsible breeding it's not funny. As a matter of fact I'm VP/Secretary of a Rescue Group. I rescue, I foster, I donate, I care, I make a difference. What the hell do you do? My dog is pregnant can she still be spayed ?
i have a 2yr old female pit bull/boxer mix when she came into her first heat after that her nipples got big and she hung a little like she was pregnant i know she didn't get pregnant because there was no males at my house. i was going to get her spayed but i keep putting it off i know please dont yell but at the time i was working 2 jobs ect so on my days off i just wanted to be lazy but anyways she had her 2nd heat about 3 weeks and my brother had his boxer over and they hoked just 1 time before i had him take his dog home. she is about 3 weeks along now and you can tell she got preg.i have called just about every vet around my area and nobody will spay a dog that is that far along. i,am going to call more even if i have to go to another city to get her spayed if i can find one to do it. also i need to know something else my friend came over yesterday and looked at her and said that she might have something i cant remember what it was but her nipples are really big and red i thing she said some type of uterus infection does anybody know thanks
Can a spayed dog have a false pregnancy?
She should not do this. She would only show signs of a false pregnancy if there is hormonal tissue secreting pregnancy hormones, such as part of an ovary left behind, or, rarely, an adrenal tumor. I would take her to your veterinarian for examination and treatment.

The incision is made - depending on the vet - either above or below the cervix. The cervix being the muscle-lined opening from uterus to vagina.Due to this it is not physically possible for her to conceive or carry any pups as she has no eggs to fertilise and nowhere for the pups to grow and develop.
