My Indian Ringneck Losing Feathers

Indian Ringneck feather loss around eye?

I have a female IRN who has recently shown a little feather loss around her right eye and maybe have a few small feathers missing around her left. She had an accident and hurt her eye last winter and is partially blind in her right eye. The eye is now healed, and it's never bugged her.
She eats normally and acts normally. She hasn't been rubbing it on anything or grooming it excessively, and there are already pinfeathers starting to grow in. The skin is normally colored with no irritation. Its not her molting season, and it's the only place she's had feather loss. It's causing her no discomfort but I'm still a little worried it may be a parasite and develop into something worse later on. Any insight?

My IRN (Indian Ring Neck) is changing colors, is this a sign of a health problem?

Simple answer could be that she is going into a molt.
I am fairly new to having the two Alex I have.
And I would admit ot be real freaked out when they both started to look motley.
I posted pics on TheParrotBoard and got told not to panic it was looking like a good molt coming on.
Here is a link that should get you into my Alex photos and you can see for yourself how shabby they looked at one stage and the last photos are ones I posted yesterday

It sounds like the beak is fine, I understand they do change colour.

When do Indian Ringnecks molt?

"Parrots molt for the first time at about 6-7 months of age, then again at about 12 months of age, then once per year after their first year.

If molting, you should see 1 or 2 feathers on the cage bottom or on the floor regularly. Parrots replace every feather on their bodies, but over about a month's time, give or take a week or 2, depending on the bird. Therefore, you shouldn't see massive amounts of feather loss. As new feathers grow in, they will look like pins coming out from between other feathers (the new, growing feathers are wrapped in a white colored sheath of keratin)."

I have a indian ring neck parrot his tail feathers are falling out what do i do?

He may be molting. It is normal! Molting is the process of losing feathers to gain new ones.

My Indian ringneck parrot has gone almost bald?

Def. take her in to be checked out.It could be something as simple as diet or hopefully not a disease.Best to find out.Could be her surrounding changed ,maybe she's in need of being de-stressed for whatever reason.Birds can be okay and then suddenly there upset, but the vet can help with determing if its health or behavior.
If shes itching, you could try ordering a nit repeller that sticks on cages. You can also get them at walmart. They are small white disc's.Birds can get a form of fleas, this helps to protect them,I use them with two of my personal birds.

Which vitamins should i give to my indian ringneck?

The best bet is use vitamin rich food. my IRN like kale brocchili and sugar snap peas, also like all fruits especialy apples.
You can also suppliment feeding with pellets just make sure the food bowl is 30 percent or less pellets.

How much feathers do parrots lose while molting?

It is early at three months for an Indian ring neck to moult , normally this occurs from 6 months.at 3 months your bird should just be feeding it's self.

You need to be feeding it Green veg, such as Broccoli, Kale, Celery, Sweet Corn Cob ,Sprouts,Pak choi(never Lettuce)all of these contain vitamins and minerals which your bird needs during the moulting period , which lasts up to 8 weeks do not forget Cuttle bone,

There is no need for a vet, moulting makes a bird irritable so you can help it by a daily light mist spray with warm water along with the above, they loose all their "baby" feathers when moulting.

Please help. My lovebird losing balance?

I have a lovebird that got blind from one eye. It is 2 year old.It has been 2 months now since his blindness. Since then he has started losing balance. It doesnt lose balance while walking but when he sits on a perch or on his bowl. He eats and drinks. He is not fluffed. I have started giving him more greens, fruits and vegetables incase if something is wrong with its diet. At one instance his cere also became discoloured but it automatically became fine in a week because i gave him good diet maybe. I keep him and his partner in a big cage outside with two indian ringneck and they r friendly and dont mess up with each other. But before he got blind he was funny and use to scare my parrot when the parrot was sitting lost in its thought. But now he doesnot scare him but leaves the place instead if he sees him. WHATS WONG. Is he normal or there might be a tumour. Otherwise he seems fine, not fluffed but some of his feathers at the head and back are not smooth but in an upright position. He does climb and fly though.
