Should she put grandma in a nursing home?
i worked in a nursing home for eight years. it was a very good nursing home and we took excellent care of our patients. i would not think twice about putting my grandma in that particular home. but, as has been said, your mom should do her homework. check to see if there are any fines from the state, any lawsuits from patients or family, ask other people who have family in nursing homes and how they are treated. if you go into a nursing home and it smells nasty, leave. i don't care what the excuse is, if it smells like poo, they are not caring for the patients good enough. the nursing home i worked in did not smell. ask for a tour of the home she is thinking of, don't make an appointment, just walk in and tell them you are just looking for a home for your grandma. believe me, if you get a good home, your grandma will be much happier, even if she does not think so. a good home will have activities, exercise, beauty salon day, social things, ect. if you get a bad one, you will know the first time you visit. it is hard caring for the elderly, especially if you do not have the help of other family members. good luck
Elderly mother: assisted living home or live in your home?
Financially I can not build her a guest home or a basement. In fact, I live in a two story home and if she is unable to walk up stairs I could not buy another home to accommodate her. I also could not quit my job (neither could my wife) and I could not pay to have a full time nurse in my house either. Also, my decision is not influenced by my wife. My mother did not take care of me growing up, she actually sent me to live with my father because she needed more time to spend on her BOYFRIEND. She has been controlling and mentally and verbally abusive to myself and my wife as well. These are all reasons why I mentally, emotionally and financially cannot live with my mother.

Receiving house from mom questions I need a lot of help?
Ive been needing to ask someone about this but its complicated and I dont know where else to turn. my mom had a stroke about a year ago I sold my trailerhouse and moved to moms to help her but she ended up falling and going to nursing home. Im needing to make repairs to house drasticaly the roof needs repaired or it will be caving in. She has no money all her ss check goes to nursing home and I dont want to invest in repairs if the house will be taken away. There are 2 things that make me wonder what will be done with the house. 1.She has taken out a loan called a home equity loan for 14,00 house is worth around 20,000 2.Will the nursing home or state comfenscate her house for payment and would they not want to take it cause she owes the home equity loan. I have no problem paying the home equity loan myself can i continue to pay it and stay here as long as im making the monthly payment. Im sorry this is so long and a lott to ask but some good advise could help me a huge amount thanks.
Mother Cat moved kittens & I am concerned because?
they are now located behind our washer. Wouldn't be a problem but our washer is MESSED UP and off alignment so when you use it it moves roughly. We can't not use it as we have 5 grown adults in our family and constantly doing laundry. history.... We had no idea she was pregnant. We thought it was a worm. she is a handciap cat I saved from the prison I work at. we didnt think she would make it. She has many issues so her getting preg. did not cross our mind as she has a bum leg-nerve damage etc.... anway.... She had the kittens on Wed. of this week. She is nursing them, taking good care. She had them in our garage. She has now moved them and I have no idea what to do. I do not know anything about a mother and her kittens....she had 4 and one is now dead and she even moved it...... any suggestions as the place she moved them is not a good place as in for safety. i am very worried about this as I love her dearly. ... any help would be appreciated....
