My Ps3 Will Turn Itself Off

PS3 turning off by itself?

I was watching Netflix and ps3 turned off by itself. When I went to turn it back on from the controller the controller lights just flashed. I went to turn it on by hand and the red standby light was blinking. I pushed the button and it made noises like if it were going to turn. But it didn't, and instead went to a solid red standby light. I pushed it again and the green power light came on and my ps3 turned on. The message saying "your ps3 was turned off incorrectly and data may be corrupted" came up. So I let it run its test. It restarted the ps3 and I was able to load a game. Although, I don't hear any noise from my ps3. Did my fan burn out? Or was it just a problem with Netflix that turned off my ps3? I'm worried to keep my ps3 on because if I did burn out the fan, I don't want it to melt the inside of my ps3. Thanks in advance for your help.

Why does my ps3 turn itself ON?

Its weird my ps3 doesnt turn itself off it turns on i have been sat watching tv in my house on my own and the only controller is on top of the ps3 and i hear a beep and it starts up. Why does it do this?

When I play my PS3, my TV turns off by itself. When I turn it back on it happens again!?

Hmm. The only thing I could think would be doing this is actually an easy fix. If you have your ps3 hooked up to a hdtv then you need to make sure the resolution you have the ps3 putting out is not exceeding what your tv can handle. Example - my tv is a 720P if i had the ps3 hooked up via HDMI and it was putting out a 1080i picture my tv would shut off until i reset the settings in the ps3. Once again, hope this works since ya didn't list what kind of tv you have, what kind of connection you are using.

My ps3 turns itself off when I try to play Dragon Age 2 (not an overheating problem)?

I turn on my ps3 and everything is fine, I doesn't beep at me or blink or anything unusual. I can leave it on the home screen and nothing happens. Then I try to play Dragon Age 2. It loads up fine, and I can get the the main menu no problem. I select "Resume" and it loads up my last save (I am in the Viscount's Keep, towards the start of Act 2). Immediately my ps3 turns completely off. No beep, no blinking, nothing. Only thing is, the red light that always glows when your ps3 is off isn't glowing. I hit the power button once, and the red light comes on. I hit it again and the system turns on.

Please, if anyone knows what's wrong, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've had my ps3 since Christmas Day, 2010, and I've never had any problems with overheating or anything yet. If you can tell me what the problem is, please do, I would be very grateful.

Why does my PS3 controller shut off by itself?

When I play NHL 12 my one controller will just turn off by itself and the other controller acts like it is possessed and will just start hitting all the buttons at once. But they work fine with every other game I play. And don't play NHL 12 isn't an option. It's the only game I play. Thanks

PS3 fan going really loud, then consule turning itself off on its own and beeping 3 times?

It sounds like it's going to Yellow Light of Death (YLOD) on you soon and I bet that was a warning. When the fan went loud, did you have a disc inside? If there was a disc inside, besides being loud, did it also make a geary/whirry sound? That's a very bad sound. The worst your system can make. It means it wants to overheat or will. The cooling fans are a waste of money. The YLOD of is a major hardware failure by the way. It can occur from overheating, HDD issues, CPU/GPU issues and other main component issues.

Honestly, if anything; consider purchasing an external HDD (formatted to FAT32. Anything you plug into the PS3 should be formatted to FAT32 or the PS3 won't have any idea what it is) backing up your PS3's entire HDD onto it using the Backup Utility in the system Settings and simply buying a brand new Slim. Get the 160GB. Those old Fat models are overdue to get the YLOD now. I'm surprised yours hasn't yet. Get that external HDD ASAP because once the PS3 YLOD, you CANNOT get ANY data back. It's impossible. Don't even bother getting it repaired. It costs on average $150 + shipping/handling +tax. It just isn't worth it when you can buy a brand new 160GB Slim for $249.99 +tax. Trust me on this, the Slims are WAY better than their old Fat models. They redesigned the Slims to be 33% (maybe a little more now with the new 160GB and 320GB due to a change of the GPU) smaller, lighter, quieter and more efficient (efficient as in you'll actually save money on power bills compared to the Fat models.) Not to mention the Slims are also way faster and overall perform a lot better. Not to mention its WAY harder for them to get the YLOD and on average should last 7 years. I'll post a link in here on how to Backup your PS3's HDD onto an external HDD for you. It will also show you how to put that BACK onto your new PS3 (he will use the same PS3 because he just did an HDD upgrade, but it's the exact same thing if your going to put it onto a different PS3 (Slims as well, don't worry.) Just trust me on this. You won't regret it. And it's way better to be safe that sorry here. Do all that ASAP. This actually happened to my buddy and he lost all of his data and his PS3 gave him warnings similar to that (he had the 40GB) and shortly afterwards his system got the YLOD and he lost everything and could do nothing about it.

Hope that helps.
