Can I play games on my ps4 while it's updating?
Hi, I just bought GTA for my ps4 and the update file is 6GB and will take 7-8 hours to download, Is it possible that I can play the game in single player whilst it's updating/downloading in the background? If so, how? Currently there's a button that says "start application without updating" but I don't want it to cancel the update.. Can I play any games or do I just have to wait?
How do I update my game that’s on a disc for PS4? I put the disc in, check for update and nothing works. I really don't want to buy the game again.
I’ve been using mostly disc based games and what happens is that if there really is an update available for that game, your PS4 would tell you (if that option is on), or it would show when you try to manually hit Check for updates. The only time that it shouldn’t show anything is if there really aren’t any updates available. It doesn’t even matter if you never opened the game itself (my copy of Ys VIII prompted me of the update right after the disc finished installing the data in my PS4, same with my COD: WWII). You don’t even need to insert the disc if you’re just going to update: I updated both my Ys VIII and my COD:WWII while my Persona 5 disc is inserted and playing in my PS4.So most probably there isn’t any update for that game at all, or your internet is just bad at the moment.
PS4 update downloads, but won't install? (game crashes as well) HELP?
On both Call of Duty Ghosts and Assassin's Creed 4, upon downloading the updates for these games, instead of automatically installing it says "ready to install", but when I click it it just opens the games. If I close the game applications, the next time I open them it says that the updates are installing, but then both games crash. CoD only when attempting to access multiplayer and AC4 won't even start. I can fix the crashes by deleting the games and re-installing them, but I cannot figure out why these updates are not downloading properly. Has this occurred to anyone else/ does anyone know what my problem may be? PS. I have tried this on two different PS4 consoles, both using the same internet source.

Are you. Connected to the internet, check this under “ network” in settings. If all is good there go to where it says “update system” in options and ask to update system software , here it shold tell you that the sustem needs update or you have current data. If this dont work try loading a game, it too may prompt for an update as well. If all these turn up null n void, check with owners manual in settings. Hope this helps
How can I avoid updating my PS4?
There's no point in not updating the PS4 firmware. Not only will you be giving up on the online features but the games that will be released later on might need you to update the firmware before you can start to play them, you can't force the system to not update at this point as there will be a update file for the required firmare version on the disc which will get installed before you start the game.

Definitely power cycle the system first (Turn it off, unplug it, and let it rest).If you have an older model of the PS4, they had issues with games ejecting because of the location of the eject sensor. Since it’s on the bottom, sometimes the system would think the table/desk/tv stand it was on was putting pressure to release it.I troubleshot it for a few customers and recommended they use two movie/game/dvd cases to raise a few centimeters. That seemed to help a lot. Most of them put cases on the left and right side so there wasn’t anything right beneath the ejection button area.Good luck

Shutting the console down prevents Rest Mode updates.I’d personally suggest #2 and #3 at a minimum. This will prevent automatic downloads of game updates. You can then manually select when you want to update by clicking the OPTIONS button when on the XBM menu with the game icon selected. From the right side menu, select ‘Check for Update’.Note, you can always pause or stop any updates currently downloading from the notifications area by clicking X on the current download status.I’ve found that most games won’t auto update without having been accessed in a while, even if downloaded from the PS Store. Only games that you’ve put into the drive and launched recently search for updates.

My PS4 won't connect to internet?
I have of course turned it on and off, I have deactivated my router's firewall, I have changed from wired to wifi, I have changed internet settiings, and I have even restarted the whole system, like deleting everything and starting it like new. My router is not the problem, it works fine on my laptop, phone, everything except the PS4, it worked on the PS4 just 4-5 days ago. Please help.
