My Puppy Is Getting Sent To A Shelter. What Do I Do

How do I get over the guilt of returning my puppy to her foster family/shelter?

I would prefer someone return a foster dog to me as soon as possible than to keep it longer & cause it more anxiety in the long run. Sometimes being responsible means making the hard decision that make us feel like poo but is in the best interest of all involved in the decision.
This way the dog has a chance at getting into the right home & you need to cut yourself a break. Sure maybe you should not have taken her on in the first place but hind sight is a wonderful thing & you could not have predicted this to be the outcome.

Returning a puppy to the shelter?

About 2-3 weeks ago my boyfriend and I adopted a puppy from our local animal shelter. My boyfriend adopted a dog from this same shelter about a year ago & had an amazing experience, she is an amazing dog. This puppy on the other hand has been a handful... he growl sometimes when picked up to be taken outside, snips/snarls, pins my cat down, and is just overall very dominate. Yesterday we took the puppy to the vet, and as the vet was checking the puppy’s stomach, the puppy started overly growling. The vet scared us a bit, and started saying he has never seen a puppy this aggressive at such a young age (about 2 - 3 months old ) he said we would probably have to take him to training/an animal behaviorist because it can keep progressing. I already suspected something was different about him, but hearing a confirmation has me worried about our other animals. We are seriously thinking about returning him because he simply can not afford training or an animal behaviorist, and he deserves someone that can provide that for him. I still want a puppy, that has not changed, so I am wondering has anyone had experience bringing a dog back to the shelter & maybe exchanging for another? I know you don’t get the adoption fee back.

Am I doing enough for my sick puppy? Possible Distemper or Pneumonia?

My 3 month old pup (adopted 2 weeks ago from a shelter) was sent home with meds for his "kennel cough" he seemed to be getting better, but his meds ran out Wednesday and his cough and runny green mucus discharge from his nose came back on Saturday. We took him to a vet immediately and he's back on meds (Clavamox, Cough Tabs, Guaffeisen and Dextrometh..sp?). He seemed to pep back up and is still eating, drinking and playing...but when I woke up early this morning, his poor little nose was caked with green mucus to the point that I dont know how the little guy was breathing through his nostrils. I havent seen it this bad and now Im worried. The vet on Saturday said that it was probably pnemonia but could be distemper (because of the green mucus in his nose). Am I just being a worried "mom" about this and not giving the meds enough time to work or is there something else I should be doing? Poor little guy was up half the night coughing.

If it were truly distemper, would the meds even help? He seems to be feeling better than he did Saturday, so the meds have improved his condition a bit... I just want to rule out distemper asap for piece of mind and peace for the pup!

Leaving my pet puppy at a police station.?

Please contact the Humane Society in your area and surrender the dog to them. They will do their very best to find a new and loving home for your dog. And finding a home for a 2-month old dog like the one you have described should be easy - I bet she's totally adorable!
I would not recommend leaving the dog at the police station. The HUmane Society is better equipped to meet the needs of the dog. Police and security dogs go through extensive training by highly skilled professional trainers - they are very selective and the dog has to meet very high standards before they even begin training them. Your dog may be selected for that one day, but for now, try the Humane Society so she can get a happy, loving home, okay?
Good luck!

Do puppies get adopted quickly in animal shelters such as SPCA?

i fell in love with this stray black labrador retriever, I dont know how since im scared of dogs! but I still did. He ended up in spca since he accidentally got out of my house while I was at school. We found out that one of our naighbors had sent him to spca. My mom and me then went to check how much he'd cost since he was "lost" not really up for adoption yet. I had the puppy for one day and so we didnt have proof that he was techinically ours so the lady said that we coulnd get him out, wed had to wait till sunday so we could adopt him.He would cost $95 doesn't sound like much but I knew my dad would get him. So know im all worried if he'd get adopted or not! I could beg my dad for him and everything but I dont want the to prevent the puppy from finding a proper home since in mine he wont have that much space. Still I would love to keep him but i just wanted to be assured that he'd find a home fast and woulnd't have to "suffer" living in a small cage for long.
