My School Is Giving Us The Wrong Material

I'm starting to hate school so much.?

I'm a grade A student with a 4.0 unweighted gpa and I used to love school but lately I've been starting to hate it. I study for hours only to have the teachers put things we didn't even cover on our tests, teachers giving us way too much work and too little time, peers that are mentally demoralizing, and education that is below mediocre with a bunch of crappy immature children. I am so stressed out and just feel like I'm going to break and drop. It's not fair that I work so hard that I never have fun but the teachers sabotage certain people.

How much trouble can you get in at school for giving someone answers to a warm up and not a test?

The fact that you lied when your teacher asked what you were doing suggests that you knew it was wrong, so that will not work in your favor if you tell your VP you didn't know what you were doing. If the warm-up wasn't graded, I can't imagine why you were passing answers since it doesn't matter except to learn the material. If it was, then yes, you were cheating, and you have to accept the consequences.

That said, it isn't going to be that bad. You're not going to be expelled or anything. I doubt you'll even be suspended. Be honest when you're talking with the VP. You just wanted to help a friend, you didn't realize it was that big of a deal because it was just a warm-up. Apologize, and promise not to do it again. And then DON'T. It's not worth it. Especially not for a warm-up in middle or high school - I can't tell which you're in from the question. Don't worry too much. You'll probably have to write a page about why what you did was wrong and maybe you'll have a detention. It's not that big of a deal.

If you mention your friend's name, she may get in trouble too. If you don't, you may get in slightly more trouble. But possibly not. That's your call.

How do i survive a horrible 8th grade math teacher?

I had an awful 8th grade math teacher too... but she was scared of me...lol

See if you can get help from other teachers in your school. They are teaching the same curriculum that your teacher is, and maybe they can explain it better.

Talk to your teacher. Advocate for yourself. Tell he/she that you turned in the work and are confused why you are being penalized. Teachers respect kids who can stand up for themselves and care about school. The teacher may be down-right scary, but if talking to the teacher can help get your grade up I say go for it! I do it, and sometimes it results in a raised grade. =) If you're scared to talk to the teacher alone, ask a friend to go with you.

And, if your teacher just can't get it through their thick skull that you can do the stupid math and are doing everything right, go to the counseling office/ principal. Again... take a friend! =)

I'm sorry you are having an awful time, but once i conquered my 8th grade math teacher 8th grade was awesome!

My teacher gave me an incorrect grade, what do I do?

Speak to your teacher in person, you are more likely to get a better response when not over internet messaging. If you got a C but deserve a B then the school should change it for you. If they refuse then I'm sure there are more life threatening things to worry about.

This is like someone borrowing £50 and they only return £25 of it. I wouldn't be too pleased either and I would certainly take it up with the chief, good luck!

EDIT: I agree with the answerer below me. You did calculate 81.6. The school system might of decided to be a little harsher on grades and not bother rounding up anymore.

How should I study for tests with a teacher that puts things on tests that we never learned?

My experience isn't exactly the same as it was in college, but I experienced a similar teacher when I was taking a class on Theoretical Mathematics. At first I was excited about the prospect. I had had the teacher before for Physics and he had been decent. From the beginning I found myself confused, immensely. I worked hard, math usually came easy to me. This didn't. I figured out class examples to the best of my ability. First quiz came. I had never seen equations like what were on the quiz. It was the most frustrating experience. I wanted to quit right then and there, but I was getting close to the end of my college program and I needed the graduate level credits. Here is what I did, and what I suggest you do. I started asking around. I found a whole bunch of people who had taken the same course. It happened to be a different professor, but when they showed me the quiz, it was the same. My professor was copying the testing material, but not the teaching material. Extremely frustrating. I tried talking to the professor, but he ignored me. I suppose I could have tried other avenues, perhaps a faculty adviser or the program director. Instead, I took the easy way out. I borrowed the materials from one of the people who had taken the class previously and memorized the quizzes and tests. I did my best to understand how they worked, but to be honest, without the teaching to go along, it was a little over my head.In the end, I got a B. Worst college class experience of my entire 5 years as I felt like I cheated to get by.My advice to you? Use the help channels. A teacher who tests on untaught material is cheating you and undermining the intent of a course. If he made it clear in the syllabus that you are responsible for all material in the book, even if he hasn't taught it, then I suggest you start with reading the book, and then find someone who has taken the class before to help you know what to expect.Good luck!

Is it okay that my teachers assign homework for something they haven't taught us?

Depends on what you mean teach.I find this situation quite often among my fellow students, those students above and below me.They were shown the concept and examples, but they didn’t learn how to apply it.ORThey were skimmed on the concept and examples, but they don’t know how to apply it at all.ORThey were thought nothing at all, and they simply don’t know.If you were shown the concept and have notes, re read your notes and ensure it’s simply because you had forgotten the concept at the moment that you didn’t remember the homework. If you still don’t remember, check your reminders or notifications. If the teacher ever mentioned this, likely a friend will know.Lastly ask the teacher if they went over it before. Chances are they did.If any of these don’t work, I can’t help you. Is it remedial, as in something you were expected to learn? Then you will simply have to learn it. The teacher will likely build on the subject over time. If you can guarantee it is completely random, like a book reading in math class that is about penguins and nothing possibly math related, then bring it up with the teacher the purpose. If no purpose, take it to their supervisor.Yes, take it there. No one deserves being kept out of the know of why they are being taught what they are taught. Especially if is random.

My parents don't let me vent to them ... who is in the wrong here ... me or them?

So I'm a college student at the age of 21. So far I am doing very well. I made it into the dental hygiene program, which is an excellent field to get into seeing as dental hygienists make great money. Anyway, I have a school assignment that requires me to drive to an elementary school and teach a bunch of 3rd graders about dental hygiene such as how to brush, why they should brush, teach them about cavities, etc.

Well, they only gave us 2 weeks to prepare for this assignment. 2 WEEKS!!! So of course I'm upset about this and feel I have the right to vent a little. I'm human after all, so venting my feelings is normal, right? Well, I vent my feelings and all I say is "They're only giving us 2 weeks to prepare to teach little kids how to do all these things. That's not much time. Other groups in my class were given a full months. Some even 2 months!"

And my dad's response is: "Ok, then work as a cashier your whole life then"
Me: -_-

It just irks me. I know he sure vents when he needs to about his job or his boss or politics, etc. Yet when I do a bit of venting it is a problem and his solution is to just quit and be a cashier my whole life. It's like God forbid you let your daughter express her feelings at all about certain things. Just because I hate the assignment and the time they gave us to do it does not mean I won't do it and succeed in my lifetime goal as a dental hygienist.

I mean ... maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I should just shut up and lock up my feelings and not say a damn word. Btw, he does this A LOT. If I complain about anything, such as my job, he'll tell me to quit then, even though HE HIMSELF complains about HIS job all the freaking time!!!

My physics teacher doesn't teach us at all?

if this is accurate the you are not getting a fair instructional program. You need to have a parent or a group of parents go the the principal and ask why instruction is not being given. It is unlikely that a student or even a group of students will be able to get any results. There are some online sources of science instruction including examples of problems worked out in detail. Since basic science courses are usually very similar you might find the examples you are looking for. But there is more to teaching than working problems. If you go to my profile you will find an e mail address. If you send me a copy of a few of the problems I will better understand what you are studying and how it is being taught. Also the name and author of the textbook would be informative as there are usually online information and if you are in the usa then I probably have access to a textbook. Some things to consider. How long has he been in the school system? Does your state have statewide exams? If so then he might be having you practice the examples that are provided so that you might make a good score on that without having actually understood all the material.(this will make him look good without having to spend any time teaching, unfortunately there are a few teachers that do this and more students that accept this as an education)
Has he given you any standards by which your grade will be determined? Sorry if the answer is longer than the question but there are many things to be considered and you seem to have some very good items. Don
