My Tsh Level Is 5.11 It Is Normal Or High

TSH Level .57, is this normal?

My TSH level is 0.57. My labs normal range is 0.35 - 4.94 uIU/mL. So I know doc will say it is normal, however, I have heard that labs are not using good ranges. Is this low or is my lab using a good range and is it ok? We did not test T3 or T4. I have been seeing the doctor for heart palpitations. I was thinking if it was thyroid causing the heart trouble that the level would be high, not low. Any ideas???

Is it normal for my son's TSH be 7.46 and then 5 days later the TSH has increased to 7.64?

TSH readings do fluctuate, so don't focus on small changes behind the decimal point, especially when the readings were taken less than 6 weeks apart.

The "normal range" for TSH varies from lab to lab, but is approximately 0.5 to 5.5. So a TSH of 7-point-something is considered "higher than normal", so can be consistent with a diagnosis of hypothyroidism, but can also mean something else -- thyroid function tests (including TSH and thryoid hormone levels) can be "misleading" during other illnesses: http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic753.ht...

Even if your son has hypothyroidism, he should not be blacking out, unless the hypothyroidism is very severe (to the point of causing low blood pressure and/or electrolyte imbalance). What you are describing sounds suspicious for seizures, although it's hard to be sure without more information.

Regardless of the diagnosis, a small increase in TSH is not what you should be focusing on right now. Talk to you doctor and make sure he/she is checking other things including T3, T4, blood sugars, electrolytes, and blood pressure.

Good luck.

My TSH level is 13.31 UIU/ml. What should I do, as a normal rate is 0.5 to 5.50?

TSH level are not supposed to be linked or be the only means to diagnose a thyroid problem. One needs to know if you are io medication or not and also as to what the levels of T3 and T4 are.Based on these only can define and a detect a specific thyroid ailment and treat. also it is necessary to evaluate a few anti thyroid antibodies that provide a definitive clue to the symptoms and the reports of thyroid function alsongside the “Serum free T4 (or T3) concentration”.However if i assume that you are having TSH high and your T3 and T4 levels are normal you may have a condition called as Subclinical hypothyroidism.Subclinical hypothyroidism is defined biochemically as a normal serum free thyroxine (T4) concentration in the presence of an elevated serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) concentration. Some patients with subclinical hypothyroidism may have vague, nonspecific symptoms suggestive of hypothyroidism, but attempts to identify patients clinically have not been successful. Most patients with subclinical hypothyroidism have serum TSH levels <10 mU/L and are asymptomatic. In particular, older patients with subclinical hypothyroidism appear to be asymptomatic, although many euthyroid older individuals also have symptoms that might be construed as being related to hypothyroidism, including dry skin, constipation, and low energy.Subclinical hypothyroidism may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) (eg, coronary heart disease [CHD], heart failure), particularly when the serum TSH concentration is above 10 mU/L.For patients with subclinical hypothyroidism and TSH concentrations ≥10 mU/L, we suggest treatment with thyroid hormone (T4 [levothyroxine]).You may discuss this with your doctor and narrow down any other problems that may be causing this and get your self treated. Do get this test repeated from another lab as many times variations between tests and labs are as high as 300 percent. Do not tell them you are repeating the test. waiter and it also may eb likely that you may come our normal in all aspects. In case already taking medications, the role of tests is totally different as described above.Wish it helps. Upovote if found reasonable.

If one’s TSH level is 5.55, what would be the symptoms?

Could a tsh level of 2.93 and a t4 level of 4.7 be considered hypothyroidism?

The ranges changed in 2003. TSH over 3 is considered Hypothryoid.
TSH levels are not the only bloodwork that needs to be done. You need to have your Free T4 and Free T3 checked, and a complete thyroid panels. Some Dr's don't know what this means.

My Dr told me I didn't have hypo thyroid with a TSH of 4.88.

Good luck!!

My TSH level (thyroid) is 5.37. Should I be worried? What should I do extra (say eating habits, exercise, etc.) to lower this level apart from taking meds? How long would it take to bring it back to the normal range?

Hi! A TSH level of 5.6 is not normal. TSH stands for Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, and if it is not in the normal range, it can disturb your hormones and disturbed hormones lead to various problems which might not be visible but can definitely be felt like dry skin, anxiety, pulpitation, feeling low, sudden weight gain or loss, to name a few.Well, in simpler words, either your body is producing too much or too little of TSH.Yes, there are natural ways to cure thyroid like yoga and a few other exercises ( easy to search on YouTube), but they only help in stabilising thyroid levels. What you do need is a regualr medication.Exercise is extremely important if you have a Thyroid disorder since it helps you maintain your weight and also improve metabolism because Thyroid affects your body's metabolism rate.Soy is one of the things that you need to avoid, otherwise normal healthy eating is something you can follow. Please consult a Thyroid Specialist who can make you understand better and advise on medication.

fatigue ; depression ; puffiness of the eyes ; dry eyes ;; mood swings

and NO ;; there no natural way to bring back to normal your TSH

What does the TSH level of 5.25 mean for thyroid test?

Not normal.Thyroid pill can only mask the TSH for sometime but doesn't do anything to heal the root cause of the problem which is not in your thyroid BTW. Thyroid disease is completely reversible in my experience. I have reversed not only my own thyroid disease but have helped hundreds of women heal their hormone Imbalances and achieve healty natural pregnancies. It's frustrating to see that so many women are suffering and not getting the right information. It can be reversed not by masking the symptoms with drugs but by addressing the root cause of the problem. Needs root cause evaluation with further investigations...Can be healed with diet changes, lifestyle changes, self care and Detoxification.Hope this helps.
