Why is my data light blinking on my cox cable box?

it's probably one of two things...

1 - it's downloading new firmware from the cable company
2 - it lost it's connection or has a problem receiving the data sources. Perhaps the cable company is experiencing an outage of the interactive media guide (IMG) and is causing this issue.

You can pull the plug on it for 60 seconds and that will usually force it to re-establish communications and fix most problems. If you have continued issues, call your cable provider.

Why do the lights of my Comcast modem keep blinking?

The main lights you want on the typical Comcast/Xfinity modem would be the “Power” light and the “Online” light. Both of those should be solid lights, not flashing. If “Power” is blinking then you have no power. If “Online” is blinking then you are not online, but the modem may be trying to find the online signal. As long as “Power” and “Online” are lit solid, the rest may be flashing or solid. Usually flashing would indicate that the option is in use, such as a “Wifi” light blinking may indicate that Wifi is in use. A “Phone” light blinking may indicate that the phone is in use.US/DS stand for Upstream and Downstream. If those are flashing while “Online” is lit solid, it would mean that they are in use. If they are flashing while “Online” is not lit solid then they may indicate that the modem is trying to find the signal to get online.

My cable box froze!?

You can't blow up your box. Don't worry.

Unplug the electric plug from the wall and wait about a minute. Then plug the cord back in to the wall to see if the box has reset.

If you are still having a problem unscrew the cable wire that is going into the back of the box and leave that undone for about a minute. Then screw the cable wire back in. This helps reset the box, Comcast has me do this when I am having issues.

Now, if neither work, you will have to call Verizon and they can refresh their signal to the box through their service. If none of this works, you'll get a new box for free.
