Need A Laptop For Games

What PC games can I play with these laptop specs?

You must have bought a refurbished laptop because the Core i5-3210m was out from mid-2012 to early 2013. Hopefully you didn t pay more than $250 for that laptop.

That laptop is using integrated graphics so there won t be too many games you can play. You should be able to play Sims 3, Team Fortress 2, and other older games from around 2006. You would need a system with a dedicated graphics card if you want to play more games.

Even a modern laptop with integrated graphics would have trouble playing modern games. Some of the most demanding games won t run at all. You will have to scale back on the screen resolution to get games to work, and by the time you do this you would be better off playing console games.

While laptops are popular for PC gaming, a desktop is more versatile because you can upgrade core components. If you want a gaming laptop that can play all the games, you would have to spend at least $800.

Need help choosing a gaming laptop?

Right now I have an Acer Aspire 5253-BZ841, it's only a few years old and it's a fabulous laptop, but not so much for gaming. It lags frequently and has painfully slow loading time, among other things wrong with it. I've decided it's time for a new computer with the ability to support my needs.

The only game I really play is League of Legends, if that helps. I don't know for sure, but I don't think it takes as much effort for a computer as something like World of Warcraft or Diablo 3(D3 was nearly impossible to play on this thing...) but I could be wrong. I am on the computer ALOT, so on top of efficiently running my game, I'd love for it to be reliable and fast for when I browse the internet, use Photoshop, ect.

I THINK I'd like to get a laptop, because I do travel around a bit, but a desktop computer is ABSOLUTELY NOT out of the question. I could always keep this laptop and take it with me when I go and have my awesome desktop at home.

I did a little research and these laptops were the most appealing to me:

My budget is like $1200, so I'd love some advice about computers in that price range. Can anyone vouch for any of these laptops I linked or suggest better ones that I can research? Any help is appreciated.

Budget gaming laptop ?

Ok so my parents agreed to get me a laptop for my senior year of HS but it has to be under 300$.
The desktop we have at home is really old ( still runs windows 7) and I can barely game on it, it's a nightmare.
So I'm looking for a gaming laptop, not high end (obviously). Also since I will be carrying it to HS, I don't want it to be too heavy so like less than 3-4 pounds.

It doesn't need to be high end. Don't want to play at ultra settings. But I want to be able to play something like Battlefield 1 or GTAV at medium -high settings 30+ fps.
Also I don't want the laptop to have LED red flashing lights or anything, I don't want my parents to know it's a gaming laptop.
Help is appreciated thanks!

Trade gaming laptop for gaming desktop?

I no longer need my gaming laptop and would rather have the versatility of a gaming desktop. (upgrade, customizing, that sort of thing.) I planned on trading my laptop for a desktop, but sense mobile parts and desktop parts can vary wanted to know at what point would a desktop be worst than my laptop?

Laptop specs
I7 3610QM 2.3GHz Quad-Core (I've read for gaming that an I5 would be great for gaming, is it true? and what should I look for?)
16GB Ram (from what I read is overkill, but I should probably try to keep to as close to the ram as possible since Desktop components are usually a little cheaper compared to laptops components.)
GTX 675M 2GB GDDR5 Graphics 256-bit bus- This is the greyest area of all. What desktop graphics cards would equal and/ or outbeat it? AMD and Nvidia. I know that mobile is always weaker, but with the naming that both AMD and Nvidia use, at what gen (AMD 5xxx,6xxx,7xxx or Nvidia 4xx,5xx,6xx) does it become worst? There are many possible options on trading on craigslist which is where I would be dealing as it seems no one wants to buy my laptop to fund a build. Even then my question stands at what desktop parts are equal to my laptop.

I figure it would help on games I play: Borderlands II and Bioshock Infinite are probably my most demanding games I play and figure if the computer can play at 1080p and "High" or Higher it would be good for the future. (My laptop can play these with everything maxed out and I don't see fps drops, or at least if they drop it's not enough to notice.)

Thanks for all the help and 10 points to most helpful answer!
