Urgent please help! very young wormy boxer puppy.?

Puppy mill. Your pup was more than likely to have been born in a puppy mill, a place where animals are reared in cages their whole lives....
Toxicosis is a systemic infection of toxic substances from worms. Live worms, dying worms and dead worms. The pup had to have been born with them which means the mother dog has them too.

Keep the dog eating ANYTHING meaty and easy to digest; Feed stores carry milk substitute that can be given to dogs, cats, cows- etc. The proper feeding instructions are on the package and it is not costly. If the vet has given the dog worm medicine the dog is going to be anorexic for about six or seven days... there are all kinds of ways to bolster its strength by offering it the replacement milk with a soft dry dog food of Good quality... soaked in the milk and put into the dogs mouth gently, make it WARM... do not engage the pup in any kind of activity as it will only serve to tire the already tired out pup more... keep him warm, comfortable and offer little bites of food often.. OFTEN.

You might have to force him into eating; in which case a syringe full of the replacement milk every 15 or so minutes through out the day for the next several days ought to pull him through this IF he hasnt got a secondary infection like Parvo.... in which case the outcome is going to be much more uncertain...

In summary, right now is to keep the baby alive while his body tries to fight off malnutrition and anemia... There is no replacement for good food, often. a 6 week old healthy pup is not too young to be placed in a new home... a 6 week old sickly pup needs every help you can give it. I have turned death into a victory many times for animals like this just by being insistant on getting GOOD food and hydration into them even if they didnt want it... if they dont take it on their own, I would slip a syringe into the side of their mouth between the back teeth and lips and gently squeeze off a half ounce of food, Imilk replacer) and by holding the head up enough to gently allow the milk to roll towards his throat, they will swallow, you got to repeat this till you get about six ozs at a time into the dog.. then just let them sleep it off... keep it up keep it up and keep it up... might take three or so days, but you will see an improvement in half a day if he is going to live... Get that milk replacement now!! Ginger

Need Extremely Urgent Puppy Finding Help !!!???

Has Jeanne spoken to her parents about the dog the whole family would like? They need to decide together on a breed or mix that suits the whole family's lifestyle, experience and dedication. How much time do they have to exercise? How confident is your friend with handling powerful breeds? How much time does she want to spend on grooming? How much does she know about the health of those breeds she likes? Aesthetic characteristics aren't the most important aspects to consider when taking on a pet that's going to be a responsibility for the next 15 years.

The AKC's advice and information pages for prospective dog owners are a good place to start. They provide bags of information about choosing the right breed for your lifestyle and experience, selecting a dog or pup, caring for your dog and all preparations and considerations pre dog: https://www.akc.org/future_dog_owner/ind...
Once your friend and her family think they might have an idea which breeds interest them, they can use the list to locate breed clubs, who can provide more information about the breed: https://www.akc.org/clubs/search/index.c...
The breed clubs can also put them in touch with good, responsible breeders, and rescue organisations.
Don't forget that shelters are fab places to go to find a dog or pup; they'll giving a loving friend a second chance and will be able to benefit from the advice and knowledge of shelter staff.

Add: Do excuse me, you sounded very young from your question. Regardless of age, all the above applies - your friend and anyone she's living with need to be in agreement about what they're looking for in their perfect dog, apart from how they want it to look. Nobody should ever settle on a breed simply because they think 'wolfy-looking' or 'thin' dogs are cute and pretty. That's how thousands of dogs end up in shelters.

How long does it take for my puppies wormer to kill the worms?

It depends on the worms and how much the infestation, but generally within 12 hours. Some will take longer to clear their system…it's like meds you take for whatever. It just takes time for them to work completely. And some are not totally complete as you sometimes have to give a second dose a week or so later. It simply depends. I am presuming you mean round worms. They may need a second dose a couple of weeks later. Tape worms…usually one dose. Hooks or whips…eww…possibly a dose daily to get rid of them. Each is different and how bad they have them makes a difference. But generally, within a day or two. No doubt some vets or techs wil have a different response, but I feel that this is about the normal time span.

One last question about my puppy. Please help! ITS URGENT!?

There are some experienced breeders and pet owners that administer the shots themselves. Some steer clear of doing this and leave it up to the veterinarian, as I do. However, from the sound of things, she is not trustworthy. Did she give you any evidence regarding the shots that she administered? I highly doubt she was experienced enough to perform these shots herself. It's also a red flag that she brought the pups out rather than allowing you inside the home. I always allowed people inside my home. Either she is a backyard breeder or a puppy mill, and will DEFINITELY mislead someone into believing the pup received what was necessary when in actuality, they have not. Did the pup have a thorough health check before you purchased her? Take her to the vet and get her an examination. I would also contact animal control and file a complaint regarding the conditions of her home. They are BOUND to find something that is unsuitable.

Edit: A BYB is a backyard breeder. Someone that cuts all corners possible with vet care, shots, health records, health guarantees, genetic testing, etc. Their whole point is to make money. They couldn't care less about the breeding stock, nor the puppies. Only the money that they produce. If she did not give you any shot records, then I would contact a trustworthy vet and ask what you should do in that situation. At least Parvo vaccinations should be done. These are pretty important and should have been started at approximately 2 weeks of age, every 2 weeks, until 16 weeks of age. The booster is also necessary. Do not allow a vet to over-vaccinate. Over-vaccination can cause immune system problems. You can do a bit of research on this. Many pet owners have now opted out of some vaccinations as over-vaccination has been known to cause problems. Fully research it before you make that decision however. As for being a registered breeder, I suggest contacting animal control. They will go out and look at her property. If it is unsuitable, they should give her a certain amount of time to fix the situation, and sometimes a citation. If she does not comply, then the dogs are removed from the location.

Another edit: A gimpy leg doesn't necessarily mean it's a broken leg, however only a vet could determine that. If she didn't have the pup seen by a vet, she is even more irresponsible than she was before. She should be reported asap.

Why are my puppies throwing up worms?

Why are my puppies throwing up worms? The worms are either causing the puppy to be nauseous, resulting in vomiting, and/or your puppy has a bowel obstruction caused by the worms. I do not have a license to diagnose or prescribe, and neither does anyone who has answered so far, but I have been an RN for 40 years as well as a pet owner and I work with dogs daily as a professional trainer. Therefore, I will not tell you to go get a de-worming medication, especially by name. Instead, I recommend you make an appointment with your veterinarian at once. There are different products for different types of worms, so take some of the worms with you when you go.

How urgent is having worms in my dogs poop?

Depending on the kind of worms the dog has you may be able to buy a worming product from a pet store. You didn't describe the worms so we don't know what type of worms they are.

Dogs need to be dewormed regularly. Dewormers get rid of the adult worms but not the eggs and larvae that grow to become adults. This is why your dog has worms again.

Worms steal the nutrition from a dog and cause the dog to be very unhealthy. Unhealthy dogs are susceptible to many illness so for your father to delay taking the dog to the vet is false economy.
