Nook Hd For Textbooks

For (medical) textbooks, should I get a Kindle or Nook?

Disclaimer: I am an Engineering student. So the answer for "Medical Books" might vary. Moreover, my experience is in relation with Kindle 3.Well, the real question here should be, "Are the books which you want to read available in the formats supported by either Kindle or Nook?"As far as my experience goes with Kindle for Computer Engineering books, there aren't many books in Kindle supported formats (.mobi or .azw etc.). Kindle does support pdf format but it is pretty cumbersome to read pdfs on Kindle by zooming in at the material that you wish to read.If the pdf is text-only without much formatting, you can satisfactorily convert it into device specific format. If there are many diagrams or figures or equations in the book, then even the conversion sucks big-time.The battery life for Kindle is amazing and the 3G version helps a lot if you wish to refer to some non-audio-video-flash material online. It also helps if you wish to check your mail. And the E-ink actually gives you a feel of reading from a real book. You can easily compare the pricing for various devices you consider. So in short, IMO, if the books you wish to read are in non-pdf formats supported by the device under consideration, go for Kindle or Nook (my personal choice, Kindle) but if they are mostly in pdf format, I'd suggest you go for Ipad or GalaxyTab or Kindle Fire (Do check the reviews first, my personal choice would have been GalaxyTab because it has the Android awesomeness and is a great device albeit a bit expensive!).Do check the availability of the book format of the books you wish to read on the device before purchasing.

Can you download kindle books to a nook?

Kindle books are DRM protected, and they need to be read on dedicated device or apps. Removal of DRM protection is a federal crime.

So if you're having a Nook ebook reader. it can't install any app, so it can't read Kindle books.

However, if you have one of the Nook tables (like Nook Color, Nook HD, etc.), you can install the Kindle app on it, to read Kindle books. Here you can find an actual user experience on using the Kindle app on the Nook, as well as other features:

Just to add, in case you're choosing between the Nook and the Kindle, I think it's better to go for the Kindle. Amazon is giving better support on their device, including content, customer service, etc. The Nook is losing money, and I'm not sure if they'll still be there after a few years.

Is it possible to read Kindle books on a Nook?

No need to remove DRM or do any other conversion, he GlowLight does not run apps at all, the other NOOKs (color, tablet, HD, HD+, SamsungNOOKs all have that capability, simply go to the GooglePlay store and download the Kindle app

Is their no more free friday books for nook and nook tablet?

Yes. To my knowledge, you require a valid credit card to purchase Nook application or book at B&N whether it is free or not. I have purchased the Free Friday Books and haven't been changed. They do give you an invoice of the purchase.

What will happen to all the NOOK Books people have purchased if Barnes and Noble actually goes out of business?

Sony left the business of making digital readers. They transferred their customers to the Kobo book store. If you back up your book files on a computer and at least one other way (flash drive, the cloud, external hard drive, or spare reader that you never delete the files from) - you would probably retain access to your library. Barnes & Noble might pass their customers along to another digital bookstore that you could download most of, if not all of, those books from directly (Kobo did not have all of the titles in their library that Sony had access to - good thing I had a backup).Nobody knows what will happen until it does happen, a new CEO at the head of the business or new tech could change everything.I have personally ended up with an older Sony reader, a newer Kobo reader, and all the major reading apps on my tablet and phone. Plus backups….I have had more than one computer die on me since I got my first computer. More than one cell phone, too.

How to actually delete apps on my NOOK Hd?

You can use a file manager. If you got the apps from an app store, they will still be in "My Apps" on that store, but that doesn't mean they are in your device.

Do you like Nook or Kindle better?

For a long time for me, it was a a bit of a toss-up. Kindle has access to more books, but I prefer the Nook hardware. I’d read a book on either. It usually came down to the price of the book or which one I was already reading a series on.However, recently Nook upgraded their hardware to the Nook Glowlight 3. Now I find reading on the Nook to be superior. Don’t get me wrong, the screen on my Paperwhite is excellent. However, I find myself reading much longer on the Nook when I have Night Node turned on than I do on my Paperwhite with just the white light. Night Mode is much easier on my eyes. The Nook Glowlight 3 also has a physical Home button and page turn buttons. None of the current line of Kindles has a physical home button. Only the top-of-the-line Oasis has page turn buttons. The Nook also supports more formats. With my Nook, I can also go to a Barnes & Noble store, get a cup of coffee or tea, and then spend up to an hour reading a book I don’t own while relaxing. It is a great way to decide whether or not I want to buy the book. It’s a wonderful perk.In terms of apps, it is Nook hands down. In the Kindle app you can no longer truly archive a book. All you can do is remove the contents of the book from your device (phone or tablet). The cover stays on the “My Library” page. There is no getting rid of it, unless you complete delete it - which means if you want to read it again, you have to buy it again. Good luck scrolling through every Kindle book you have ever owned to find something you’ve not read. The Nook app allows you to completely get rid of any trace of the book from your device. You don’t have to keep scrolling past the cover of a book you’ve long since read to get to one you haven’t or click down a couple of levels because you don’t remember if you took a break from a series at book 5 or at book 6. As I don’t read much on my phone or tablet, this bothers me far more than it probably should.Having used both a Kindle Paperwhite and the Nook, for me it is now the Nook without a doubt.

Nook HD + Shelves problem?

I made a shelf on my Nook HD + called Book Samples. But when I download book samples and want to put it in its shelf, it not only goes in Book Samples, but it also stays in the shelf called Books. I only want purchased books in the Book shelf. How do I make it be in one shelf and not the other?

I forgot the passcode to my Nook HD+?

Contact Barnes & Noble - but if you reset it and then sign in on the same account (Barnes & Noble and Google) it should download & restore your previous apps, books, and the like.

If you have anything saved to a micro SD card, pull it out before doing the reset so you can slide it back in after you've done the reset.
