Oil Coming From Bottom Muffler

Black water coming out of tailpipe?

The inside of the exhaust system naturally becomes coated with black soot. One of the byproducts of the catalytic converter in water vapor. The water condenses and rinses the soot out. That condition is normal except... There is a small hole at the bottom of the muffler, at the rear. That hole is there to allow water to drain out, so the muffler doesn't rust (as fast) from the inside out. If the hole is plugged for some reason, the amount of water at the tail pipe will increase.

Why is oil coming out of my exhaust pipe?

its probably not oil. what your probably seeing is black carbon(soot), they will do that when water comes out, it turns black. theres nothing wrong with your car.

Does not having a muffler burn more gas?

it makes your car alot louder, it could either reduce or raise engine power depending on how the muffler was designed. If you lose too much backpressure you might go slower, if it frees up a restriction, it'll go faster.

But yea your car will probably just be really loud with not too much difference in power.

In my opinion it won't affect gas mileage much because the amount of gas used is really determined by the air intake meter, which sends info on how much air comes in, and then the ecu will tell the fuel injectors how much gas to mix to get the correct air/fuel ratio. the muffler is behind the catalytic converter so it is completely emmisions legal but I don't know if it is sound level legal.

What is wrong when coolant is coming out of your exhaust?

First, be sure that it’s coolant. My preferred method of doing that is to taste it, then spit it out of my mouth without swallowing. If it’s coolant, it will probably have a very sweet flavor. If it’s condensed water (which is a normal part of your vehicle’s exhaust), it will have no particular taste at all.If you determine that it’s actually coolant, you should also have noticed a billowing cloud of dense white smoke also coming out the tailpipe.Coolant in your exhaust means one of three things: (a) a blown head gasket, (b) a cracked intake manifold, or (c) a radiator leak resulting in flung coolant getting into your air intake.

I have transmission fluid leaking on to my exhaust where might it be coming from?

1. What part of the exhaust is the fluid leak? Reason I ask, it could be coming from numerous places.
A. If it is next to the power steering pump, the fluid could be power steering fluid (most the same color as the transmission fluid) coming from a leaky high or low pressure hose, pump, or reservoir.

B. If it's near the radiator area to the gear linkage on the transmission, it could be a leak on the transmission cooling lines going to the transmission coolant coil located on the side or bottom of the radiator going to the transmission.

C. If it's on the bottom transmission pan, it could be coming from a front seal of the transmission. If so the transmission will have to be removed before the seal can be replaced. The pan bolts could be loose. Check the tightness by tightening opposite sides be very careful not to ring off the bolts into the transmission. Also check the "O" ring where the transmission dip stick goes into the transmission casing/pan.

D. If it's in the area next to the front of the drive shaft (rear end drive), the rear seal is leaking in the rear of the transmission. Remove and Replace the seal. If it's near the rear of the drive shaft(rear end drive) at the rear end differential (Hog's Head), remove the drive shaft (making sure the caps does not come off the universal joint), remove the tail section of the rear of the transmission should be 4 bolts (Chevy 350 turbo transmission) > There's a "O" ring on the output shaft just inside the metal sleeve. Remove the "O" ring and replace with new "O" ring, making sure the "O" ring doesn't twist. Replace the tail section, then the drive shaft making sure the end caps do not come off because the needle bearings will fall out.

E. The last resort. Crawl underneath the vehicle and wipe everything down with a clean cloth. Slide a piece of clean cardboard underneath where you have noticing the fluid on the exhaust. It could be leaking up front and running down the rail and dropping off onto the exhaust. Good Luck

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan white smoke coming from exhaust?

If it was just a small amount of white smoke that quickly dsappates upon start up in the morning It was likely water vapor from the exhaust system. when hot metal cools off it pulls moisture from the air which condenses inside the esnaust system. Most mufflers actually rust from the inside out. Stainless steel coated exhaust systems last a little longer, its the heat of the engine usually blows out a small amount of water, and then some will vaporize into steam. White smoke or black somke can also be fuel, the difference is if its fuel it smells strongly, and the engine would be missing too. Its normal to get small amounts upon start up, its usually a lot more visible when the weather is cold.
