What are the best DVD discs for burning Wii games?

they are right. vertabin is the way to go. use -rs i think it's recommended to run it at 1x (though you can get by at higher speeds). if you are having issues with game play i wouldn't be so fast to blame the disk. the burnt disks don't play as well as a normal disk. if you want speed, look up something called a WODE or sundrive. if those don't suit you (i understand. don't look like my thing either). the easiest way to get the games running better is a soft mod and usb loader. they say w/d my passports work the best. there is a difference in an usb power external and a a/c powered external. i can say from experience the a/c powered externals are faster for loading. either will work though. something to check out

Burning CD through iTunes?

There should be a bar, but the bigger question is how long is your playlist? A 700 mb disc can only hold 80 minutes of audio. The files initially only take up 292 mb, but when they're converted into cd format they'll take up MUCH more than 700 mb. I know that 292 mb is longer than 80 minutes since I'm looking at an album I have in full quality MP3 (320 kbps) and it's 74 minutes but only 183 mb. You need to shorten up the playlist. :)

EDIT: And the guy below me is spamming, so don't listen to him (I just reported him to Y!A).

Does burning a disc and copying files to a disc really mean the same?

Take this back to the origins…disks were (and still are for the most part) spinning disks. We had various types of floppies, of all sizes, and regular hard drives are “hard spinning disks”. So when people said “copying files to a disk”, you had to consider the context. It could be to copy files to a floppy and then give that floppy disk to a person like you would use a USB key today. You could “copy files to a disk” from a web browser, if you’re looking to download a file (or files), and then you can copy them from one disk to another. (Sometimes people refer to separate partitions as separate “disks”, even if they’re actually on the same spinning hardware. As such, “copying files to a disk” means just that. RECENTLY, (5–10 years), people have used this phrase when talking about CDs. This is not common, because most writable CDs are not configured to be rewritable. So you put the content on the disk (burn it), and then you can’t change it. You can technically say this is copying files to a disk, but it’s uncommon.“Burning” a disk, is a specific term related to burning CDs or DVDs. You’re using a laser to write content onto a disk for storage (or movies, or to share with people). All German Shepards are Dogs, but not all Dogs are German Shepards. All (current) CD/DVDs would be considered getting “burned” when copying files to them, but not all file copies would be considered “burning” the content. This is an idiom that applies to solid state storage (SSD). You could say you’re copying files to a disk, even when using an SSD or flash drive. It’s not a disk, but it’s considered a similar entity in the OS for the purposes of file copies.

Is burning CDs considered illegal?

Not necessarily, no.Obviously, if you hold the copyright to what you’re burning on the CD, you have the right to do whatever you want with it. If you burn a CD full of photos you took of your kids, for example, you’re the copyright holder to those photos and can copy and distribute them any way you choose. The same would be true if you had permission from the copyright holder to do it (this includes material under free licenses such as Creative Commons that explicitly permit copying). If you do not? It depends, and not all of it has been tested in court. Courts have, in some cases, held that “time shifting” and “format shifting” of copyrighted work that someone legally owns is OK. So if you own a CD, and burn a copy of it to keep in your car to protect the original, that may well be considered legal. Regardless, it’s vanishingly unlikely that you’d ever be challenged on it.Burning bootleg CDs to sell at the local flea market? Nope, that’s certainly not legal, and you’re a great deal more likely to get in trouble for it.Burning CDs of music that you illegally downloaded? Not legal, but well, it was illegal to do the downloading in the first place too. That’s another case you’re not terribly likely to actually get challenged on it, though.Burning CDs of music you legally downloaded? I don’t know if this has been tested, but again, this may be held to be a legitimate form of “format shifting”, if for example you burn a CD so that you can listen to your music in your car. And, again, who’s going to know or care anyway? So, it depends. Most of the time, if you’re doing it for personal use, then even if the legality is unclear, it’s vanishingly unlikely you’d get caught or challenged. The only time you have to worry is if you’re planning to distribute the CDs.
