How can I subscribe to a Yahoo! Group?

Here's how you can subscribe to a yahoo group: ( I hope this will help you!)

Join via the group’s page:

Once you’ve located a group to join (at groups.yahoo.com, you can browse the Groups directory or search for a group by topic), click Join This Group in the upper-right corner of the group’s page.
Haven’t signed in yet? You’ll be asked to enter your Yahoo! ID. If you don’t have one, register by clicking Sign Up at the top of the page.
Set your membership preferences. Choose a profile you'd like to display to the group, select the email address at which you'd like to receive group messages, choose how you receive group messages, and more.
Join the mailing list only:

Yahoo! Groups recommends that you join a group via the group’s page (above). But if you want, you can simply sign up for the mailing list for the group. When you’re only on the mailing list, you don’t get access to all the group's web features (Photos, Files, Links, Polls, Calendar.)

To subscribe to a group's mailing list via email, send a blank email to:
groupname-subscribe@yahoogroup...

Make sure to replace "groupname" with the actual name of the group (e.g., pastry_chefs-subscribe@yahoogr...

When you get the confirmation message, just reply to it…and your subscription will be complete!

Respond to an invitation to join:

If someone sent you an email invitation to join a group (and you’d like to join), click Join this group!

What does Bouncing mean on yahoo groups?

If group messages sent to your email address are returned to Yahoo! Groups as undeliverable ("bouncing"), your Yahoo! Groups account may be temporarily disabled.

Messages can be returned for several reasons:

* Your mailbox may be full -- try deleting messages from your Inbox.
* Your ISP may have a backlog of email to process -- contact your ISP.
* Your ISP may be blocking email from Yahoo! Groups -- contact your ISP.

In many cases, Yahoo! Groups can automatically reactivate your account once the delivery problem is solved. However, this process can sometimes take a few days. To immediately reactivate your account:

1. Visit your My Groups page.
2. Look for a bounce alert near the top of the page.
3. Click Go to My Email Preferences.
4. Click Unbounce next to the bouncing email address.
5. This immediately sends an email to your mailbox. If it’s no longer bouncing, you’ll receive that email. Click on the link in the email.

Note: Reactivating your account will NOT immediately restore email delivery. The change in your status still needs to be propagated to all your groups. Usually, this happens within hours, but there may be occasions (particularly if you’re in a group with more than 75 members) when it may take a day or more.

How many people use Google or Yahoo Groups?

I've used Google Groups on 4 to 5 occassions, and while I think the tool could use SEVERAL improvements, it works well for virtual groups to file documents, share meeting minutes, and relay information about meeting times etc. The challenge with Yahoo Groups is that you need a yahoo email address, and have to have all your members sign up for one - an extra step that can seemingly be a pain.

Why are attachments not displayed in yahoo groups?

Some groups don't even allow attachments due to the possiblity of spreading a virus or similar malware.

The groups that do allow attachments you have to sign up to receive individual emails for each post. That way you receive the attachment with the email for that post. The attachment can not be accessed at the group's website or from the digest form of posts.

I hope this helps.

Be careful!

What service can we use to replace Yahoo Groups?

For the last week, our group at Yahoo Groups and many at other groups have been unable to post. for months before that, only some of our postings would be forwarded to members, while others would be delayed a day or more and still others just disappeared. We need a service that will reliably forward our two lists, one moderated and one unmoderated, and both delivering by email.
