One Week Into The New Year Has Anyone Tried To Use Their Obamacare Insurance If So How Did It Work

Marriage and health insurance?

I've been engaged 4 years now. Mother of 3, 2 grown sons and one who is 15. My fiancé has one son. We both work, have good jobs except I have a large deductible on my health ins and big monthly premiums. He has no deductible, wouldn't cost one dime more if I and my son we're on his if we were married. We waited 3 years until my two older sons graduated college to get married. That was a year ago. I've asked several times but it turned into an argument each time. Last time I was really upset. He tried to smooth it over saying next year, big honeymoon. I don't want a wedding just to the courthouse. We don't need to spend money on that. I told him- lets just get married now. Nothing ever came of it. Two weeks ago my 15 year old was diagnosed with a heart murmur. Needs to see a cardio, lots of testing. I have to meet a 4000 deductible. Out of my pocket with my ins. I told him about the diagnosis when I got home. And I was worried about spending the $ on deductible but it has to be done. He never said one word. How about lets get married like we were planning for the last four years now so you don't have to spend a small fortune? How About I want to take care of you? I just came back from applying for a weekend job to try and cover the costs for now. He asked how my interview went and did I get the job. Did I mention he lives in my house?? I'm so disgusted, so angry...... I just don't know what to do or say.

Has anyone worked for Combined Insurance?

Also, they say that they work with Careerbuilder (which is where they got my e-mail address from). It just sounds like a major lie that an insurance company would work with Careerbuilder.
I researched Combined Ins. online and it's a real company, but I just don't know if it's a good company that anyone would want to work for.

Is Family Heritage Life insurance a scam?

They're a legit company, rated B++ (I wouldn't buy from them based on that rating), HOWEVER, why would you buy a health insurance policy that only covers ONE illness? Your chances of using it JUST aren't that high.

If you want HEALTH insruance coverage, buy a health insurance policy. It's not cost effective, and very silly, to buy one policy for cancer, one for diabetes, one for heart problems, etc.

If a person goes to a hospital in the USA without health insurance and racks up a high bill that they can't pay, does the taxpayer pay for it instead?

According to the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), any person who goes to an emergency room must be stabilized and treated for life-threatening illness or injury, regardless of their ability to pay.  Hospitals are required to provide "emergency medical treatment" which is lifesaving treatment and/or stabilization, and provide treatment for women in "active labor" (water has broken).(Note that ERs do not have to provide non-lifesaving treatment to persons who cannot pay.)Once that treatment is done, someone still has to pay the bill.  So several things will happen:The hospital will try to collect from the individual. If the individual cannot pay any of the bill (i.e. no income at all):The hospital will try to determine whether or not the person qualifies for Medicare or Medicaid, and try to collect the money from them. The hospital may try to write off the debt:If the hospital is non-profit, it might write off the cost as "charity."  In order to maintain non-profit status, the hospital has to do a certain amount of "charity" work.If the hospital is for-profit, it may write the debt off as "bad debt" which is then used to calculate Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement rates, allowing the hospital to command higher reimbursement from the governmentThe hospital can then use the "bad debt" or "charity" numbers to attempt to ply more from paying customers' insurance plans, making it more expensive for everyone else to get care.If the person is employed but underinsured, or if they do have some form of income, the hospital will send the remainder of the bill to collections, which can bankrupt the individual. One way or another, the hospital will get paid.  The hospital will also get paid at the expense of the other, paying, customers, in one way or another.
