Ordering At Starbucks

How do you order at starbucks?

I'm assuming you want to know how to order more complicated drinks in the way that a Starbucks barista would.Firstly, and this is very important: if there’s a line up, know what you want to order before you get to the counter.Obviously speaking clearly and respectfully to the barista serving you goes a long way as well.As for ‘calling’ drink modifiers, do what the baristas do and follow the back of the cup. It's ordered the way it is for a purpose, and it's much easier to write complex modifiers if you give them sequentially. This is a standard cup. Note the order of the boxes going down the cup.First, specify whether or not the drink is iced. If it's hot, you don't have to say anything. Next, the number of shots. Now, specify the size.I f you know the nomenclature, great, if not, extra small-small-medium-large is fine. The reason the size is called after the shots is to prevent confusion between number of shots and number of syrup pumps, if applicable. Either way is fine. Now, move down the cup calling modifiers in order. If you don't want to change something from the standard recipe, don't call that box.(i.e., a grande vanilla latte could be ordered as a double caffeinated grande, 4 pump vanilla, 2%, +foam latte, but the drink code supposes all of that.)For example:Correct: iced triple grande vanilla americanoIncorrect: grande americano, vanilla, triple, icedCorrect: decaf venti half-sweet hazelnut nonfat with-whip mochaIncorrect: venti mocha with half sweet hazelnut, non fat milk but still whip cream, decafIt may sound trivial, but when you process as many orders per day as a barista, it's an extremely effective template. When I worked for Starbucks, I could remember hundreds of drinks back if they were told to me in the standard order, but could hardly remember more than one if it was given to me jumbled.

How to order At Starbucks?

Stupid question I know. But I live in New England where we have 5 Dunkin Donuts locations for every one Starbucks. I usually get my coffees at Dunkin but lately I've been very unimpressed with my coffees and decided it might be worth it to spend the extra money for Starbucks. The only problem is the different style of ordering at Starbucks.

At Dunkin I get a caramel swirl iced coffee just cream. What is the equivalent to that at Starbucks, and how do I go about phrasing it when I order?

Thank you for any and all help, already feel dumb having to ask.

What do you order at Starbucks?

Just wondering.

Mainly looking for ones with special/custom orders. I'm bored with ordering off the menu.

I've tried:
Upside Down Caramel Macchiato
Strawberries & Creme with a pump of white mocha

Both were pretty good.

First time ever ordering at Starbucks?haha?

First of all, it is our job (I work at Starbucks) to help people with their drink order, so don't feel embarrassed or anything because most of us like to help new customers order just what they want.

In answer to your questions:

Yes, you could ask for a grande (therefore, medium size) coffee. If it is before noon, the barista might ask you if you prefer a blonde (light), medium or dark roast. The standard, otherwise, will be a medium roast.

If you want cream, just ask for a "grande coffee with room" (for cream) and the person taking your order should then retrieve the cup of coffee for you. You can then take it to the condiment bar which is a counter that has various milks, sugars, stir sticks and napkins and prepare your coffee to your taste. The usual milk choices are nonfat, whole milk and half & half (a.k.a. breve or cream). But if the milk you would prefer is not out on the condiment bar, simply go to the drink hand=off counter and ask the barista preparing drinks there for whichever type of milk you need for creamer.

If you would like vanilla syrup added to your coffee ask for a "grande coffee with vanilla and room." If the cashier/barista taking your order does not add it herself, she will then ask your name and you will just wait briefly for them to call you to pick it up at the other (the drink) counter. If you get a flavor of syrup (such as vanilla) added to your drink, you will actually receive 4 pumps of syrup in a grande, You can specify the number of pumps you prefer, more or less. Bear in mind that the syrups are both a flavor and a sweetener combined.

How do I order Iced Coffee at Starbucks?

I've always had McDonald's Iced Coffee's and thought I'd give Starbucks a try. On their site it says it's coffee, milk and sweetend...when I asked for a tall iced coffee with milk (sounds simple?) the woman looked at me for a sec and then was like ok, do you want milk in the coffee? I said yes. They added ice, 75% coffee and 25% millk, no sugar and gave it to me. It was good, no sugar, but good.

The second time I went and asked for it, the girl had to ask the guy preparing the drinks, that I wanted an iced coffee and what should she mark it as...she made it an americano something...what gives? Am I ordering it wrong? I feel absolutely stupid ordering at Starbucks as is sincey everyone seems to use all these fancy words for low fat, skim etc.

How am I supposed to order it?!?
