Overall Do You Think That Women Lead More Hedonistic Lifestyles Than Men

Would being gay or lesbian make it much easier to lead a hedonistic lifestyle?

Hmm. Speaking from my perspective as a sexually active gay man in liberal Toronto, it certainly would be possible for anyone who was so interested to lead a more hedonistic lifestyle, with sex partners aplenty and a more hedonistic lifestyle generally.Would it be much easier than if one was heterosexual? I don't know. While the lack of much social regulation of non-heterosexual men's lives traditionally seen as legitimate might make it relatively easier for non-heterosexual men to be more into free sex and hedonism generally, neither is a preserve of non-heterosexual men. Both non-heterosexual and heterosexual men in Toronto can access sex clubs, for instance. This kind of lifestyle might be more common among non-heterosexual men than among heterosexual men, but it's nothing different from what straight men could enjoy if they wanted to.  It might take relatively more effort to plug into these relatively rarer lifestyles for a heterosexual, but it could still be done. How? I've no idea, as I'm not one.(No, this answer does not consider women's issues. I don't feel comfortable speaking about something I've no experience of. I leave that to others who do feel so qualified.)

Does atheism lead to selfishness and hedonism?

There isn't just one thing wrong with this questions. Firstly, theism or any religious beliefs are not needed for altruistic, prosocial behavior. Altruism and pro sociality is innate, and in a neurologically and developmentally healthy human already occurs is totally normal. Take for example the idea that most of the ethical beliefs of Christians, or Jews are derived from the bible or Torah. If this were true, killing homosexuals, and not mixing linen and cotton would be of intense focus, while women rights would never be allowed. Humans could easily commit genocide, saying that was the will of God.“He said to them, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Every man of you put his sword upon his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate in the camp, and kill every man his brother, and every man his friend, and every man his neighbor.”This among the condoning of slavery(Ex 21:7-11), and how women should not be allowed in the house on their period(Lv 15:19) So obviously most religious people today aren't like this, because they choose sayings from the Bible that suit their perception of modern day ethics. Cafeteria Christianity. Contrary to what you think, religious children are actually less altruistic than non religious children[1]. Atheism may actually lead to less selfishness. That being said, the study does have it’s limitations, and there is probably little differences in morality between atheists in people who are “cafeteria” religious. The second major issue with this question is the assumption that hedonism is bad, All in all, the ultimate goal of life is to reproduce, which is mediated by our reward system. In fact, altruism is rewarding for most people, and many other prosocial behaviors are done with the goal of feeling better about oneself. In the end, altruistic behavior isn't about the other person, it is about feeling good yourself. Hedonism all the way bro…Footnotes[1] http:// Decety, Jean, Jason  M. ...

Will legalising gay marriage lead to a hedonistic decline of society?

Have you told your wife that the only thing preventing you from getting your johnson cut off and peddling the remainder in the streets is that gay marriage is illegal? I really think you have a duty to inform her that she's your second choice.I'm deadly serious about that. How else on earth could you even conceive of a question like this? Gay marriage affects what gay people do with other gay people. There is nothing in that sentence which even mentions straight people. If you think it affects you then the only conceivable reason is that you've got a collection of Judy Garland records you're not telling anybody about.Marriage is the opposite of prostitution. Marriage is what happens when two people make a long-term commitment to each other. It's precisely the opposite of hedonism: gay people are asking for the chance to link themselves legally to each other for a lifetime. Not even a hidden cache of rainbow flags in your closet explains a connection between the two.I think that this is, ultimately, why some same-sex marriage advocates are so outraged. Even beyond the fact that denying gay people the right to marry each other makes the world a worse place, the excuses proffered to justify it are simply so wildly ungrounded as to make me suspicious of the people making them. The argument is so transparently silly that it's practically impossible for me to discuss it without violating the Be Nice/Be Respectful policy. (Upvote quickly before this answer disappears.)

Are men and women natural-born enemies?

Cut and slightly edited from an answer I gave earlier, but I think it applies:

When I was in college, we had no women's studies courses. There was no anti-male, or gender hostility like there is today. Women didn't fight to take back the night, because they had never been lead to believe they had ever lost the night. There was no gender-sensitivity training because people were not so ultra-sensitive to the most minor things. If someone said something really inappropriate - people just told them they were being inappropriate. Males were not viewed as potential rapists, though people were certainly aware that sexual assaults, while fairly rare could happen.

I went to High School prior to title ix kicked in and guess what - there were just as many women's sports then, we just hadn't started cutting men's sports yet. Nobody talked about a patriarchy and most people understood that many women focusing on motherhood would mean women would often earn less than men. People understood it was choice, not some grand conspiracy against women.

Feminist agenda has changed all that. G.S. courses have gone so far at to even re-write history. Women are taught they are victims of male oppression and that most men are lurking waiting to do them harm. The wage gap is misrepresented for political reasons. Males are now treated unjustly under college hearing boards, and arrested under mandatory arrest policy under VAWA. Of course there is more gender bitterness today. Sadly, while women face no more risk, they live with more fear and resentment. None of this is a step forward in my opinion.

Gender Scholar, Dr. Christina Hoff-Sommers writes:

“Well, I do worry about a new generation of feminists who have been given a lot of misinformation. They are on every college campus and are now out in the community. Maybe ten percent of 18-24 year old women are very angry people, intoxicated with hatred, believing that maleness is synonymous with violence. Now, this is not true, but they have been fed these statistics.”

Historical villains compared to Iago?

A similar character would be Don John in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. He manipulates everyone and causes quite a bit of harm. However, since this is one of William Shakespeare's comedies, things end up good (unlike in Othello).

Lady Macbeth in William Shakespeare's Macbeth is another manipulative villain.

Cassius in Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is also a manipulator like Iago.

Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca is a bit like Iago where the second Mrs. DeWinter is concerned, although her influence doesn't last throughout the story.

In a certain way Lord Henry is like Iago in The Picture of Dorian Gray. He tempts and influences Dorian Gray to descend into a hedonistic lifestyle.

I'm sure there are many more characters that could be said to be manipulative in various works of literature, but hopefully this will help.

***Addition: You want real life villains who manipulated? I won't get into anyone alive today, because that gets into politics and whether you are liberal or conservative. That's a debate for another section.

However, I will tell you that the first historical figure that came to mind is Grigori Rasputin, who wielded a LOT of influence over Tsar Nicholas II and his wife in Russia. His manipulations were almost hypnotic in nature. You can check Wikipedia for more information about him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rasputin

Beau Brummel, though not a villain, had vast influence over Regency fashion in England. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beau_Brumme... He's slightly different than what you're after, but there was a certain manipulation of the fashionable world in how he determined fashion.

The Borgia family during the Renaissance could be considered extremely crafty and manipulative. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucrezia_Bo...

If you want examples of manipulative villains, you should also consider reading up on some of the Roman Caesars. Talk about heavy-duty villainy!

What is wrong with being a hedonist?

Being a hedonist is not necessarily “wrong,” but neither is hedonism an adequate philosophy of life for those who seek tranquility. Personal choice of lifestyle aside, the idea of hedonism by itself can still be problematic for two reasons:First, the paradox of hedonism makes hedonism a self-defeating philosophy of life to live by — we will likely fail to attain true pleasures if we deliberately seek them. For example, which of the following efforts would bring us a more profound pleasure?I seek pleasure, therefore I help others.I help others, therefore I attain pleasure.Pleasure seems to be best left as a byproduct of other higher goals to which we commit ourselves in life, not the other way around. Then, there is the problem of hedonic adaptation, a term coined by the two psychologists, Shane Frederick and George Loewenstein. The truth is: We human are designed to adapt. The pleasure of winning a lottery, buying a new car, or even meeting the man or woman of our dream does not last forever. We adapt to our fulfilled desires and eventually stop finding them as desirable as they once were. As a result, in order to experience the same level of pleasure we have once attained, we now need to seek new desires with higher intensity — a greater wealth, a more luxurious car, a bigger house, and perhaps for some… a new relationship or even a new marriage. Contrary to our original intention, the pursuit of pleasure has become a vicious cycle that consumes our life in a rather undesirable way.

How many times (real average) can a man have sex (orgasm) during a night or day (12 hours)?

I tell you straight up. It depends on how long he has built up supply in the prostate and scrotum. If he does not orgasm for at least 1 week, it’s possible to have more than 10 orgasms in a row. They each get smaller and harder to do, but wait long enough and they can be done. It’s even possible to dry orgasm when he runs out of available semen.Downsides of this is it lowers testosterone levels and raises estrogen levels. It also depleted the body of resources and leaves a man very frail afterwards, often needing days or more time of rest and recovery with lots of sleep and tons of lean protein. A multivitamin wouldn’t be a terrible idea during recovery either. It essentially puts his body at a deficit. What women don’t realize about male bodies is that we are like generators. We are limited only by the quality of our diet, and our stress levels. If we can go low stress, high quality diet with lots of sleep and good exercise we can continue metabolizing indefinitely. This is how we build muscle so quickly. The body just builds up or breaks down in response to what is put in.Female metabolism is slightly different. It’s anabolic and preserves and maintains; stockpiles rather than generates. That’s why it’s so hard for women to build muscle easily. It’s also why female bodies actually prefer vegan diets, and grains like Quinoa and other stuff like that. It’s perfect for female physiology. It prefers to grab nutrition from low calories and complex carbohydrates. For men, that would just lead to not enough juice to build excess muscle and sperm production. We need more. Chicken and fish are essential for male athletes. While there’s nothing wrong with Quinoa, it just doesn’t suffice in terms of raw fuel. So, the longer a guy waits between orgasm, the more he can orgasm in the future. It takes about 64 days to complete one full sperm cycle. The male body is producing sperm 24/7, so if a man an manage to hold off for 64 days his prostate and scrotum would be loaded to the max and he would be capable of producing huge loads, and well over 10 of them. But go too far and he’d have to wait another 64 days to rebuild. That’s why it’s best for men to always try to run their bodies on a surplus. It takes self-discipline but the results are tangible. This is the very premise the No-Fap movement is built upon.
