well, first of all, an antacids is a basic salt (some time a base, too, but no so common).
inside your stomach is hydrochloric acid. so when antacid is absorbed (a.k.a, you use it), it neutralize the acid in an neutralization reaction, which increase the pH of your stomach.
now, the acid will bot be so much that it attack your stomach anymore

inhibitors, on the other hand, block the acid from attacking your cells be making a protective layer out site them.
so the acid is still there

well, many kinds of plant can't live on acidic soil (there is no such things as basic soil, just acidic and salty)
acidic soil, as it is, has the pH less than 7
and plant can not grow or can not produce high yield on those soil
so people neutralize it, so plants that live on neutral soil can grow properly

but there are plants that grow well on acidic soil, too
