Politics Why Are Liberal Democrats Think That Fascism Is Rightwing Even Though It Is Leftwing

Why do libs think that Fascism is a right wing ideology?

IT IS BOTH LEFT WING AND RIGHT WING!

There are right wing fascism (Hitler) and left wing fascism (Stalin).

Fascism is simply totalitarianism - a severe police state. And that can operate under any economic system.

"We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions." -- Adolf Hitler, May 1, 1927

It might be an over-simplification, but to the absolute left is ultra-Socialism which can manifest itself as Fascism or Communism. To the absolute right is Anarchism. Complete government control over citizens and property vs. zero control over citizens and property.

When the USA was founded. It was far to the Anarchy side. Evidence to this was the weak Articles of Confederation. Just having been under tyranny, it might have been understandable why the founders took this position. It was soon found that this was an unworkable form of government. The Constitution was a move toward a more powerful central government of the left. The Bill of Rights portion of the Constitution was a mechanism to keep the USA from going to far in this direction by limiting how much power this more powerful government could have.

The road to ultra-socialism goes through the Progressive philosophy. Progressives believe that society and people can be "improved" or shaped into a better society. Notice both Communism and Fascism have this theme. The vehicle of this "improvement" is control of the economy. Complete control is where Communism and Fascism begin. Both have forced redistribution of wealth. Where they differ is how private property is treated. In Communism, it is eliminated. In Fascism it is controlled by the state. They are not opposites. They are the fruit of the same tree, extreme Progressive philosophies aimed at a utopian "betterment" of society with ultra-Nationalism mixed in. Both Hitler and Lenin have been described back in the day as progressives.

Why do liberals think that Nazism is right wing extremism?

Nazism grew out of and was aligned with conservative movements. Read a history book instead of online comments; there was no disagreement.Germany was a multiparty democracy before the Nazis took power, and Hitler rose to power with the help of the other more-moderate conservative party inside Germany, opposed by the left while the moderates mumbled.Internationally, the Nazis were openly allied with conservatives and in conflict with the left.* There was some degree of mutual respect between many of the conservative parties and the Nazis. Fascist sympathies in France are arguably one of many reasons for France’s poor preparations. The left-right positioning was especially obvious and important in the Spanish Civil War. In the US, the Nazis were most vociferously opposed by the left, opposed by FDR — while the “America First”** movement (including, most famously, Charles Lindbergh) were typically mildly pro-Nazi conservatives (with a range from actively Antisemitic pro-Nazi right-wing to people who were just against the war … it’s not entirely simple.)It’s really bizarre — a symptom of feeding off some very bad news sources — that anyone would take this completely non-controversial basic history and get it bungled. Everyone from right to left knew this, before the internet. Stalin was left-wing extremism, Hitler right-wing extremism, as basic as you can get.* briefly with some really bizarre garbage-politics when Stalin signed a non-aggression pact with Germany that both leaders knew was a lie but not all the pro-Soviet far-far-left was clueful was lie. WWII saw a much greater degree of consensus in the US, at least until now — before the war, there were significant Americans who thought Nazi Germany was cool, others thought that Stalin’s USSR was cool.** it’s very strange to hear Trump using terms previously used by people who though the Nazis were pretty much ok and definitely not worth fighting.

Why do liberals think Abraham Lincoln would be a liberal Democrat today?

They have no basis for their claims and they think that his anti-slavery stance, which was what the Republican Party was founded and still operates on, was "liberal Democratic." Not only is this demonstrably false (because given Abraham Lincoln's political positions and actions, he would be more disgusted with liberal/progressive Democrats than he was with southern Democrats), it's outrageous and, to an extent, very dangerous.

Abraham Lincoln was not and would not be by any means a "liberal Democrat." One can make a case with classical liberalism, but modern liberalism is a definite "no." Why do liberals and progressives use Abraham Lincoln as ammunition to attack conservatives and to feed their "the parties switched sides in the 60's" falsehood? Don't they know that he was faithful to Republicanism and would never be a Democrat?

If you think that the parties switched sides, I have a pack of wet matches I'd like to sell you. Oh, and here's a quote by Lincoln to Mr. Obama, the liberal/progressive leader and icon:

“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.”

Define: democrat, republican, left-wing, right-wing, liberal, conservative...?

be thorough and civil in your answers. i myself am none of these things. i'm not entirely sure what these mean. no hate speech, please (from either "side").

Are you left or right-wing in your political perspective?

Far far left.

When people cling to the notion they're not left or right one thing is sure, they aren't left.

The idea of the reasonable middle is a myth

What is left-wing politics and right-wing politics?

Right-wing = calling anyone who doesn't agree with you a baby murderer, a socialist and a pansy surrender monkey.

Left-wing = calling anyone who doesn't agree with you a religious zealot, a facist and a baby-killing war monger.

That doesn't fit any of the remaining candidates, but their supporters will keep up the rhetoric, anyway.

Politics: Why do liberals call republicans "Fascist" when they support a Fascist Obama?
