Poll 7 Day Montreal Canada Vacation

Visiting and Travel: In what ways can Canada replace USA as a great tourist destination?

Well you can get all of those things on a trip to Canada.  Hit the big cities like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver for luxury goods and shopping.  There's good food all over the nation but those places will also give you greatest variety, especially Toronto. As for nature, man we have that in spades.  In fact even if you were to visit Toronto, you can reach the world-famous Algonquin Park by driving about 3 hours north.  There you can stay on the fringe for just a fun camping trip (reserve ahead, people go there from all over) or if you really want to experience nature, you can go deep into the park to remote areas where you might not see someone for days but you will be sharing the park (which is huge) with about 2,000 wolves, quite a few bears, moose and a lot of other wildlife.  And that is just one small part of Ontario....  only a fraction of the country.I recommend you come in Spring or Summer if you want the warmer weather. There's lots more in Algonquin on Youtube, just do a search. ;)My favourite part of Canada that I would like to see... Alberta. And btw, Calgary, Alberta has a very popular Muslim mayor.

What age do you have to be to be admitted into Montreal bars and night clubs?

First of all, the drinking age is not madly enforced in Quebec as it is in the USA. However, it is true that where young Americans tend to go (the near west side of downtown, near the English-speaking universities) they tend to overdrink and often become rowdy, so it may be more enforced there. Suggestion: stay in the more French-speaking areas on the east side and go to the shows and clubs and music venues there. First of all there is more to do and the shows and music is better (the Plateau District is famous for newer bands on their ways to making it), as well as most of the drinking (all of the brew-pubs of Montréal save one are located there).. Second, almost everyone is bilingual. Third, you will experience more of the culture.

Be aware that Montréal is more of a wine drinking culture, even in clubs.

POLL! Niagara falls for a vacation!?

I live in New York and go to Niagara falls a lot, and I still don't get bored.

1) Marineland Theme Park - It's pretty close to the falls and features live sea creatures and shows, as well as many rides and games.

2) Walk the streets of Niagara- There are many awesome shops and restaurants such as the Hard Rock and the Rain Forest Cafe. Also many fun places like Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, as well as other entertainment places (Mazes, Guinness World Records, "Fun" House, etc.).

3) Take falls viewing to an extreme- To have more fun with the falls, ride the famous Lady of the Mist boat ride, or take a tour under the falls. You could also dine or visit the Skylon Tower which provides and excellent view of the falls, from way up high.

4) Enjoy the culture- If you can try to catch a hockey game or two, it's an awesome sport. Or take a trip to a nearby forest and take pictures. It's really a beautiful country.

Hope I helped!

How much should a typical high school spring break vacation cost?

Well I would find a friend that has a beach house and stuff that way you wont have to pay for a room cuz that can really add up but just with food and spending money and also figure in going out I would say anywhere from 500-1000 it depends on how classy you want to travel. If you go where there is a beach you will spend less cuz you dont have to pay to lay around :)

Canada vs. United States?

I'd just like to thank everyone who has contributed so far. Every one of you has stated very interesting things that I have never known. I asked this question so I could be less ignorant in the world and because I just like debates. To answer V.'s question, I am from the United States. I always hear about Canada having this and that so I became interested. Just some things I'd like to point out:
1. Can anybody tell me what's the deal with Quebec? I barely know anything about Quebec but it seems to have a bad reputation in the US and Canada.
2. Socialism seems to be the great evil among voters in the US, even though programs based on Socialism already exist here in the States. I wonder if most voters even know what Socialism is, or do they just follow the in crowd?
3. I'd like to add a fourth part to the debate: Between these two countries, who's the leader in technology and medicine and stuff like that?
4. @Randy B. "and a wife (who also isn't cheap...or easy. lol) . LOL. =).

Is it true that Canada is better than America?

This really isn’t even a valid question.Health care:USA - the singularly most expensive and non-trustable health care in the world. 70% of all bankruptcies in USA are because of health care bills.Canada - Free-to-the user. NO CHARGES.Life expectancy:Canada - 81 years, among the longest living peoples in the worldUSA - 78 years the lowest in the OECD, by a WIDE margin.Maternity leave:USA - Six weeks, no pay and if you don’t come back in six weeks, your job is gone.Canada - One full year with “almost” full pay. Your job is guaraneed to be there for up to two years.Schooling:USA - No. 34 in high school educational standardsCanada - consistently among the highest four in the world.Higher education:USA - the singularly most expensive in the world. A four year degree can cost up to USD400,000Canada - Free (Quebec) or very reasonably priced. All applicants that qualify can study - having wealthy parents is not necessary.Personal safety:USA puts more prisoners (on a per capita basis) in jail than the any other country, by a factor of seven. 50% of all released prisoners are in jail again within 18 monthsCanada - has among the lowest prisoner population and lowest repeat crime rates in the worldSociety:USA - I look after me, and you look after yourself. A general “population selfishness” which most persons, from any other country, cannot understandCanada - Who cares, we pay our taxes and live our lives peacefullyVacation time:USA - NONE, absolutley no guaranteed vacation time, and many don’t get any.Canada: Varies between provinces. Most employees start with two fully paid weeks and it goes up from there.Standard of living:USA - VERY UNEVEN, with the great majority living poorly by European or Canadian standards. 49% of Americans cannot pay an unexpected $400 bill without borrowing money this week. (Source: The Economist, this week’s issue.)Canada - Uniformly high with far lesser difference between high and average paying jobs. Not that it matters to you, I hope, but minimum wage is up to double what it is in some US states.I can go on…Choose carefully

According to the Harvard-Harris poll, Trump's approval rating reached 50%, which is higher than Obama's 45%. Why, on Quora, are people overwhelmingly opposing Trump? Do people on Quora overrepresent the voice of the Americans? Why or why not?

I don’t know if you are aware of this, but many on Quora are not from the USA. Those people have not been subjected to the right wing bias of US politics and judge the Trump as we see him.We see a cheap TV ‘star’, who has failed in at least four businesses (bankrupting himself), has a huge ego and is a sex pest too. The Trump has insulted most of the USA’s allies, does NOT understand economics (which may explain the multiple bankrupcies) and threatened real war, as well as starting a trade war (mainly with the USA’s allies. It says it’s policy is ‘America First’, but the way it’s acting seems like it’s intended to be ‘America alone’, with no friends (apart from Putin and Kim Jong Un).When it came to the UK, he made a 92 year old woman stand around waiting for him (if you are going to be late it is consdered good manners to warn your host, but then the Trump doesn’t seem to have any ‘good manners’, insulted our PM (that’s normally OK, we do it all the time) but the Trump made a (recorded) interview with a ‘right wing rag’ criticising her, then when she’d read the ‘rag’ apologised and called it ‘fake news’!Honestly we wonder how the USA could have been so easily conned by an obvious liar, coward and misogynist, but then the poll you quoted might be an indication of the problem. We hope that you come to you senses in 2020 and do not ignore the history of the 1930s.
