Is it strange for a girly-girl to listen to rock and metal?
I'm one of the biggest girly-girls you'll ever meet. Think dresses, skirts, make-up, and pink. However, people are often surprised when I tell them my music taste. I listen to a diverse range of genres, but I mostly stick to rock and metal. My father is a big fan of these two genres, so I grew up listening to them. I've never been into radio friendly music, so I usually search for bands on YouTube. When people find out my music taste, they become shocked because apparently girly-girl and rock don't match. They expect me to be a rocker chic, who wears dark colors and dyes her hair black. Well, I don't think so because I love being girly. What do you guys think about this? Would you be surprised or is it rather common? Other music genres that I listen to: Alternative, Punk-rock, Pop-punk, Grunge, J-Rock, Electronica, and Classical. Thank you. :)

Stereotypes associated with rock music?
Hi, I know for punk fans its that they are all white and from Europe or North America. This is not true. Im an asian ( Indian) guy from South Africa who virtually worships pop/ punk bands such as Simple Plan, Yellowcard, Blink 182, Good Charlotte, New found glory etc. My friends often find that strange because they are all into rap and dance.
What do you call a person that listens to a lot of alternative rock/grunge?
Well I've heard people call people Grunge before so that may be the style name. I don't really go with labels, but for styles I usually say their favorite genre and kid For me I call myself a Hardcore Kid I call rap fans Rap Kids Except Punks, and Metalheads. So by my language it would be an Grunge kid.

Why do so many girls like pop punk music?
well id say... many teen girls become aware of them because they are put out there by the media because they are very marketable in looks and sound then they like them because they are usually attractive and fit the outline/mold of what young girls are taught is the "bad boy", "the quiet one", and all that jazz, which is taught to them by those media guys again. ...just my hypothesis
