You won't see much, or any, of a change on black hair unless you bleach first. If you want the results to be intense, it's recommended that you bleach your hair to a light blonde, which means you'll need to bleach a few times. If you do decide to do it, keep an eye on the bleach. Watch it closely. Put the bleach on your roots last because the hair from your head process faster. I'd recommend wrapping the hair in foil after the bleach, or dye, is on so that it doesnt get on the rest of your hair that you dont want dyed. its of course always good if you can get a friend to help you, too. Your hair will not fall out. and it will not turn green. it sounds to me as if you havent dyed your before, and your hair would only "fall out" or break off if you over dyed it, which is tough to do - i've done a lot to my hair in the past and its actually in really good shape. its more likely that the parts you bleached will turn an orange color after bleaching, but then what you do is get toner in the opposite color from what your hair is now (from a beauty supply shop) and then put the dye over it.. or, actually, you could probably dye right over it without much trouble, but ive always toned. yes bleach is a dangerous chemical but read up online about how to do it and you should be just fine.

What is the best way to get noticeable purple highlights in black hair?
The hair will have to be highlighted first to an absolute minimum of a level seven, preferably lighter (9-10). Then apply a Privana Vivids shade of your choice onto DRY hair (I would choose one of the more intense purple shades like violet unless you managed to get those highlights REALLY light). Make sure you coat all of the highlighted hair perfectly or you will be left with splotches of blonde here and there. Don't worry about getting the purple color on your black hair as it will not affect it, but be careful to keep it off your face and ears, and wear gloves as it WILL stain. Be prepared to reapply the purple every couple of weeks to keep it looking fresh.

Hi! This is a loaded question because there are so many factors. I would think you want it done right. Correct? So you will want an expierenced stylist at a reputable salon. That will drive your cost up. And it’s worth the money. It depends on what condition your hair is in now what color you have now, how much color the stylist will use and the amount of time it will take. This is not a complicated thing to accomplish, it is time consuming and messy. I personally don’t mind that but you will encounter stylists who may be apprehensive- either because they are not comfortable with this type of hair choice, application or their reputation (sorry it’s the truth, you are out advertisements in the real world!) They may not know how to do it right so they wouldn’t even want to attempt. The answer is you have to go in for a consultation, which should be complementary, and ask the price. Have them give you specifics on why things cost what. I should be one or two color applications depending on your color presently, and the highlights should be placed and pulled out while the black is on your hair. They will have to lift and then apply a direct dye to the highlights to get true purple. Then probably do a clear gloss over it all to seal in the color. If your hair is damaged, a conditioning treatment is necessary because of the risk in lifting those highlights so that should be extra too. If you came to me, 2 color applications of black, to full and put the target color next on, highlights and then purple direct dye after with a conditioner before we start would be color applications- $95 each, Highlights $120, purple direct dye after rinsed highlights $100 a treatment anywhere from $35 and up and cut, because you’ll need one after all these processes $95. $450ish. It is the time. You would be my one client half of my day. But you can find very talented artists/stylists that are way more affordable. I have just been in this for a long time. Think hard too. Black is the most difficult color to remove from hair so if you change your hair up a lot consider an alternative! Good luck apologies on my long answer, I just wanted to give you the straight truth. Can I dye purple over blonde highlights?
I have black hair and what was supposed to be dark brown highlights, but as I wash my hair it has brightened to a blondish almost orange color. I bought a dark purple hair dye that I want to use to dye my whole hair with, but I am afraid it will make the highlights a weird color instead of the dark purple. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Okay, i've seen this on someone else's coif before. So im asking where to get this dye. I want jet black hair but i want it to shine a dark dark, grape juice purple too. Does anyone know of any permanent dyes that will give me this look? just so i don't waste my time reading, and you don't waste your time typing. please don't answer back: Blue-Black hair dye information- (i asked for purple-black there is a difference) 'Go to a professional hair stylist' :) - (that's my last resort.) or that i shouldn't be dying my hair because i should be happy with what i already look like and it looks too gothic and blah blah blah. sorry just had to get that out there thanks guys anything besides that helps tons :)
