Question About Blood Pressure For 21 Year Old

Question about my blood pressure...?

Yes, I think Lisinopril is working great for you.

Your BP is not too low to cause alarm.

I could help you more if you told me the milligrams dosage you were taking.

Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor. ACE inhibitors work by reducing the production of a hormone produced by the kidneys that says "pump up the pressure."

Best of luck to you!

PLEASE HELP! Blood Pressure question? 124/69 for a 21 year old girl, is that OK OR really bad?

My friends and I were in Rite Aid and stopped at the Bp machine out of curiosity. I have worries and severe panic disorder, but I took mine anyway.
I took it and it was 130/72 at first, and that scared me because the machine said HIGH!
Then I went to the bathroom and took it again, and then the machine said 124/69 . I know it was hot out, and I had been active not long before, but that shouldn't affect bllood pressure should it? I remember going to the doctor when I was a teen and it would be in the low 100's or even 90s sometimes. Now I feel a panic attack coming on, and I have no clue what to do. If my bloood pressure is high, what will happen to me? I am SO scared please help.

Is 140/80 high blood pressure for a 21 year old?

That's high for an adult, yes.

Excess weight, "white coat" anxiety, caffeine, very recent exercise, illness, and pain following an injury can elevate it.

Unless you're five feet tall or less, I doubt your new weight is a factor. However, your diet might be.

Find a place (drugstore, mall, student health center, etc.) where you can take your blood pressure for free or very cheaply. Take it many times over the next several weeks or months, noting the time of day and any conditions which might affect it ("had 2 cups coffee" or "angry"). If it remains high, you need to return to your doctor for help getting it reduced to a safe level.

If you're a coffee drinker and you'd had a cup in the 2-3 hours before your appointment, or went jogging that morning, it could be just that.

Is a blood pressure of 130/90 too high or normal for a 21 year old residing in north-eastern part of India?

Blood Pressure (BP) and Heart rate (HR) are very variable parameters. A person's HR and BP vary from minute to minute. Also exercise, Anxiety, Excitement (including over thinking about BP itself) etc can increase HR and BP. There are positional and diurnal variations too. That's why a single reading unless alarmingly high, should not be cause of worry. A doctor will check your BP at 3 different occasions after adequate rest. And only when persistently high, hypertension can be diagnosed and appropriate measures taken. A BP of 130/90 mmHg is about as high as it can pass as normal. So you need not be alarmed and tensed about. But I advise you keep a watch on it. Keep checking once a month. And visit a doctor. Meanwhile you can change your life style to suite a lower BP like regular light exercise, low salt low fat diet.

I am 21 years old and my blood pressure says 160/90. The doctor has advised two medications. How do I mentally remain strong and what should I do?

I can relate to your condition and let me assure you you should not worry too much. Please undergo a routine health check once a year and continue the medicines prescribed by your physician .Hyper Tension can be due to medical reasons or just essential Hyper Tension.Once you go for a routine check they will find out if there is something wrong with your system and they will treat you for that and the high Bp will reduce. However if you are an otherwise healthy person then you have Essential Hyper Tension and let me assure you that you can continue a normal life without any worry as long as you swallow the meds.I assume you are a normally healthy person and hence just go right ahead and live a full life. Please do go for a checkup and confirm the reason/no reason for the BP and act accordingly.Kindly also note that Blood Pressure is a highly fluctuating parameter and hence you should avoid constant hourly/daily measurement. The readings will vary dramatically and drive you crazy. Even if you have the machine and the time to measure the pressure ,avoid becoming hyper about it.Please follow A low salt diet and other instructions a given by your doctor.Wish you good luck.
