You can't monetize video game footage. It's in the rules. To get a Machinima partnership, you'll need to show them you have the subscriptions and that people are actually watching your videos. But you have to apply for it before anything.
Monetizing a video on youtube?
So i have been asked by YT to monetize my vids, and thats cool and all but i have a question. My vids are solely music with its lyrics on the screen. I have acknowledged that i do not own this content in my videos before and youtube hasnt done anything about it. but when asked to monetize my video it says 'I will not opt-in any content for monetization for which I do not possess sufficient rights' can you help
How can I monetize osu! videos on YouTube?
I upload videos from a music/rhythm game titles "osu!" to my YouTube account. I've noticed that some of them get monetized while other ones get the "Provide commercial usage rights" treatment because of the music in the videos. Because some of them monetized without a problem, I assume there must be some people who know about the game and understand Fair Use... On that note, I don't understand Fair Use. From what I've heard though, these should be allowed because they are for demonstration purposes. I won't pretend to know any more than that, though. Am i allowed to use short clips/highlights from other Youtube videos to make a video for my own and still monetize the video? For example, I want to make a video about the NBA draft yesterday. I grade each team, and I wanted to voice over highlights of the players I'm discussing. Highlights that I find on Youtube. How should I go about this?
Problems with monetizing WoW videos on YouTube?
Well, to be brutally honest...it is because you do not own the rights to the WoW content. It could be that the other people who have monetized WoW videos got permission, but that is highly unlikely. Either way, just because they haven't been caught doesn't mean it's legal to do. It's still copyright infringement, and if the copyright holders of the WoW content decided to they could file a lawsuit against the users who have WoW content monetized on YouTube.

What are the benefits of monetizing your YouTube videos?
YouTube/Google does not pay for your number of views or subscribers. Being a partner (or monetizing your videos) is done to place ads on your videos and earn revenue from those ads (this is the ONLY way YouTube pays a channel...from ads).
