Monte Carlo vs Cobalt?
Neither one is racing material, but if you want to spend some $$$ and modify it (stiffer suspension, 5.3L V8, etc.) then the Monte Carlo has much better racing potential. An SS MC would be akin to a mid-line Camaro. Cops around here used to utilize Impalas (MC's close cousin) as unmarked, low-profile speeder-catchers. The only major downside is the mandatory automatic transmission. I think a 2010 Cobalt LT would probably shake apart if it got anywhere over 70mph...and would almost certainly need as many "upgrades" just to keep it from flipping over on the highway because it lost a tie rod or the struts fell apart. And I owned a 2009.
How fast can a Monte Carlo go?
I know all you guys on here are probably chevy fans so dont fire me on this ok... I am thinking about for my first car, either a 1998- 2004 Ford Mustang or a 2000-2007 Monte Carlo. I am wondering how fast can the 2004 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO SS SUPERCHARGED Model go? I found it on Kelly blue book, and its price makes my walet smile. I looked it up on google saying it has 240-hp so how fast could I get it on the track? Thanks

And for those wondering, I don't get a later 2000's Monte with the V8, is cuz I don't like the body looks. My dad has a 2006 LT and I don't like it's looks. Thanks again!
Rear wheel drive conversion for 07 monte carlo?
I'd wait for the Camero... it's going to be rear wheel drive... or if you can wait until 2009... GM will probably (according to Bob Lutz GM Head) reintroduce the Monte Carlo on the Zeta platform (rear wheel drive V-8...Holden, Pontiac G8 and Camero)... where it will be built on the same assembly line as the New GTO and share many components including the 5.3 LS 4 engine or the LS 2 6.0 litre with 450 hp!!!
What's the difference between a Monte Carlo LS, LT, and SS.?
The main difference is trim and factory options.LS is the base monte and the LT is top of the line.The SS monte is the proformance model.Some year montes come with the belt driven supercharger.This is a option and the dealer orders it this way.Best of luck.http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/defaul... Replacement Stereo for 2005 Monte Carlo LS?
Your not in luck man! I own a 2005 Monte LS as well. This install was a NIGHTMARE for me. I have installed decks in a lot of vehicles so im familiar with it. One problem with these Monte Carlos, whoever designed the deck and wiring was an IDIOT. Luckily in 2007/8 my friend had a 2000 MC and he did a deck in it. Well the wiring harness you need for this install sells for about $80-$140 !!! Why you ask? This deck has the door chimes and info center light running through your deck! This new outrageous wiring harness comes with a bypass and chime module. Most deck wiring harness cost under $10. I ordered a harness i thought would work but didn't, it was one wire short of working. I spent hours looking for a harness that would work before my buddy found the one he had in his. This harness is a basic $10 one, but you have to run a wire to plug into your fuse box to have constant power. Very easy install once you have the correct wiring harness. I couldn't an answer to what harness this was ANYWHERE, not online, or at car audio shops. But i can tell you, it can be done without that stupid $80 kit. PS if you bring it to a shop to install, they will charge over $200 just to install it with the specific new harness, they will not warranty running a wire to your fuse block. I have had mine installed for 5 months as of now, info center and check light still works, but no door chime Good Luck
Removing Battery in 07 Monte Carlo SS?
Anybody have any tips for removing the battery in a 2007 Monte Carlo SS? I have removed the cross bar, unhooked the battery, removed the bar at the base of the battery that holds it in place. I also unhooked the fuse box to try and give me more room. I can move the battery around, but can not get it out. I've managed to get it almost on its side, but then it hits the fuse box and gets wedged against the front frame. There isn't any slack in the lines to the fuse box, so that can only move so far. There needs to be about another inch of room and it would make it a hell of a lot easier. I read some suggestions about removing the head light, but I don't really see how that would give me more room. Any help would be great. Thanks
Why does the engine light of my Monte Carlo keep blinking and what could be the REAL problem with it?
I drive a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. The engine light in my car keeps blinking on and off. What could be the problem? I took it to a one-stop shop and i was sure they'd fix it. But when i got the car back, the check engine light popped back up and started going off and on as usual. So now i'm stuck with a car that still has a check engine light blinking off and on and i don't know what the "real" problem is! Because I simply refuse to take my car to another mechanic and have him underperform on the repairs and leave me hanging! Are there any certified mechanics on here?
What is the maximum life span of chevy monte carlo. My care mileage is 161000 . Will it run more?
It all depends how well its been cared for. Cars are designed to last 10 years & 150k miles. If you take care of it they can last much longer. If you don't it will never get anywhere close to that. Since you didnt mention anything about your car other than mileage we have no idea.
