Questions On Rose Hair Tranchala A

Rose hair tarantula questions?

Dude, its a spider. Believe it or not, they have TINY brains that only "do" a few things: look for food, look for reproductive mates, look for shelter. Beyond that, they dont really have "moods". Things that irritate tarantulas are sudden movements and shadows falling overhead - that is a sign that a predator is hunting them.

Best way to get her comfortable with you? Put your hand in there and dont jerk it if she bites or otherwise acts up. If you are jumpy, she will react. And, you should also know that tarantulas have an interesting defense mechanism...when they get spooked, they run UP. That means, if she is on your hand and gets spooked, she is making a run for your FACE. Try not to smack her off out of fear, as you will likely kill her, if not end up being bitten on the face...ouch.

I have a Chilean Rose as well. Thing is, it scares the crap out of me, she is so HUGE and has big fangs! So, its really simple - I dont touch her. When I clean her cage, I get her out of it by sticking her inside a pint glass!

Which tarantula is the best one rose hair or pink toe?

Of the choices you are giving I would go with the Rose hair. Either is a nice docile critter but the Pink Toe is a bit harder to keep. They have higher humidity requirments and houseing them takes a bit more imagination. I have never had any luck with the Pink Toes. One opton is that the Pink Toes can be kept communialy with some success but if not done right you will just end up with one really fat one instead of three or four normal ones. I had three in one tank for over a year. The Rosies are darn near indestructable and wicked easy to care for.

Rose hair tarantula question?

Hello, today I just bought a rose hair tarantula that is an adult. it was very active for the first hour I had it. But now it is just sitting in the corner of the tank walking against the glass. I have a hide and the tank isn't very moist, but it is moist enough. I also have a water bowl for it. I don't know what is going on with it can someone please explain why she's acting like this?

What happens if a rose-haired tarantula bites you?

Actually, nothing much happens. They have big fangs, of course, so you would have a couple of puncture wounds rather like what you could get from the largest rose thorns. There is a chance that these bites could get infected so you should flush them with clean tap water, and you could use soap and water. You could even put something like povidone iodine on the wounds. But, as with most other spiders, these creatures clean themselves well and also do not go around putting their fangs into rotting stuff.Their venom is toxic to small prey items, but not very toxic to humans. My guess is that lemon juice on an open scratch might hurt more. Anyway, it is just pain and it will fairly rapidly decrease in intensity over the next hour or two. (At some point it will still hurt a little but you won’t notice it anymore.)

Rosehair Tarantula.. Can we over feed her?

The good thing about tarantulas is they are really hard to screw up. The spider will eat until she is full, and no more. If she will eat it feel free to give her crickets/worms/etc. Rose hairs are particularly known for their strange eating habits. Mine will go for a couple of weeks without eating and then eat 6 in a week. Just make sure that her water dish is full and that you offer her food and remove it after 24 hours is she doesn't eat it. Gut loading prey is good to do also. There are little jello-like chunks that you can buy at pet stores to feed to crickets about 24 hour before you put them in with the spider to make sure that they are as nutritious as possible.

Rose Hair Tarantula More Aggressive?

First, how long ago did she molt? You need to wait at least a couple of weeks to be handling the tarantula again. That could be causing the increased irritability.

Secondly, rose hairs are known to be moody. Sometimes they will be very docile, sometimes they will fight like their life depends on it at the drop of a hat.

To above poster,
I have heard personal accounts of "psycho rosies", that become defensive and even "bitey" very quickly . From what I understand, it varies with the individual. Most are calm, others are moody. Other than that I don't really have anything to add to your answer.

What heat lamp should I get for my Rose Hair Tarantula?

None. A heat lamp is a good way to kill a rose hair. I've had a rose hair for 8 years now and have never used a heat source, not even a heat pad. They come from Chile in South America. Chile is a nation with a high elevation near the sea and the temperatures there are not very high. Their summers are normally in the 70's and don't often get past the low 80's. Rose hairs can comfortably live at room temperature. Plus, using a heat lamp in a 2.5 gallon tank will not allow the tarantula to escape the heat if it's too hot, thereby killing it. As for water conditioner, I've never used it and they rarely ever even drink water anyway, although I do frequently mist the enclosure.

How do i calm down a rose hair tarantula if it has it's fangs bared?

Grammostola rosea(rose hair) have probably the hottest venom of the NW tarantulas. They kill mice faster than any other T know of. They are not good for classrooms because they range from very docile to meaner than satan himself.
I suggest a native species like Aphonopelma anax or Aphonopelma hentzi
Texas tan or Texas brown . They are almost always so easy going you can pull on the fangs and not get bitten. ALMOST ALWAYS. Also, test the temperament before getting in front of people. Also, it if bared it fangs dont mess with it, get it to someone who can handle a defensive T and get a docile one for that.
OR find a local Tarantula club and get them to do the shows for you and have a look but dont touch one in the class room
