Redness In Both Eyes From Tear Duct To Pupil Pic

Can anyone tell me what the red dot in the inner corner of your eye is called?

You're Probably thinking of the lacrimal duct or "lacrimal caruncle"

Why are my eyes so red?

I'm not exactly sure why this is as I am not an Ophthalmologist nor an Optometrist and the eye is very complicated and sensitive. As for the treatment, I do know that you should NOT be using Visine regularly especially not every day! I've been told by my Ophthalmologist that Visine, the original formula, is very bad for the eyes because it is a type of steroid which "gets the red out" by constricting the veins in the eye. By constricting them, the red dissipates however, a persons eyes can get dependent upon them and the more serious issue still remains: The underlying reason why your eyes are red in the first place is not treated only the symptom of the 'red' is. So, without consulting your eye doctor you might continue to be aggravated with this nuisance.

Swollen eyelid and headaches?

For about a year now my left upper eyelid has started swelling. It is only the left, and will come on periodically. Sometimes it looks like it's drooping although I think the drooping is actually caused by the swelling. It is not painful or red, although I can feel it swelling up when it starts. I tend to have it most mornings, although it usually goes away. It may then come on during the day - it can last from seconds to hours - currently it's constantly swollen, but not that much to notice - it will just get larger and smaller throughout the day. I can guarantee that when I'm tired or starting to get tired (whether this is at night time, or after doing exercise etc..) it will swell up alot.
I went to see the doctor - she's ruled out any form of allergy and has said there's an underlying cause. She asked me questions like, if I go numb on one half of my body, if I sweat on only one side of my face, if my pupil turns into a pin point etc... (no to all of these). She's sent pictures of my eye when it's swollen to a consultant but so far we haven't heard back from him. I don't think I have any other symptoms, the only thing is that I have started getting more headaches (have a cloudy head throughout the day, and then will get twangs of pain usually on my right side at the front, the headaches tend to get worse if I'm lying or sitting down and then move, either by standing up or just moving about) - although these headaches have only started in the past 2 months.
Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be? Any ideas would be appreciated as I can forward them to my doctor for us to look into.

Thanks

Why is my left eye always red?

For some reason, my left eye is always red from the lower tear-duct to the edge of the iris. It's like a direct line of red veins. It's in the smack center too so it looks hideous. This doesn't happen in my other eye. Im constantly now putting clear eyes in, even visine, which helps mildly. I've also tried refresh gel drops. Last time I had this same eye issue back about 3 years ago, the eye doctor told me it was allergenic conjunctivitis, which was around allergy season. I have been using those eyes drops she gave me to cure that issue (patanol), and it still isn't going away (i had a refillable prescription). I hate how this looks, what do I do? Any suggestions, recommendations on eye drops? I obviously know to go to the eye doctor, but I cant get in till after the holidays.

Thank you!

Painful, swollen outer corner of eye?

This may be the beginning of a chalazion, which happens when the Mebomian glands/ducts of the eyelid become clogged.

Mebomian glands produce a slippery fluid that helps keep your eye lubricated.

When one of these ducts becomes clogged (bacteria, dust, whatever!) the eyelid will hurt and swell and turn pink as the fluid builds up inside the eyelid.

Try a very warm wet washcloth over the area several times a day for 15 minutes. This will often unclog the duct and reduce the swelling.

If a hard bump forms in your eyelid, it is called a chalazion (a stye is an infected eyelash follicle). Although most chalazions go away on their own, they can be uncomfortable and may burst, causing an eye infection. If you get that bump, you may want to see a physician, as you don't want to take chances with your eyes.

If it gets wore, you could visit a doctor.

I have had many, many chalazions in my lifetime. Some of them went away; some had to be surgically lanced and drained.

Why does my dogs eyes glow blue in photos?

That reflection is from what is called the dog's Tepetum Lucidum in the back of her eyes. In nature it helps them see better at night. All dogs have a slightly different coloured Tapetum. The only way to not see it is to take a picture without the flash - that way there is nothing reflecting off of the back of her eyes. Try taking pictures in bright daylight so that you don't need the flash, or turn it off and see if she can hold still enough for it to not be blurry (depends on your camera settings)
