Right Lower Abdominal When I Crutch

Why does my knee swell up when i stand long periods of time?

See your health care provider as soon as possible (orthopedic surgeon), for consultation. In some cases, a Baker's cyst causes no pain, and you may not even notice it. If you do experience signs and symptoms, you may notice:

Swelling behind your knee, and sometimes in your leg
Knee pain
Stiffness
Texture similar to a balloon filled with water

A Baker's cyst is a fluid-filled cyst that causes a bulge and a feeling of tightness behind your knee. The pain can get worse when you fully flex or extend your knee or when you're active.

A Baker's cyst, also called a popliteal cyst, is usually the result of a problem with your knee joint, such as arthritis or a cartilage tear. Both conditions can cause your knee to produce too much fluid, which can lead to a Baker's cyst.

Although a Baker's cyst may cause swelling and make you uncomfortable, treating the probable underlying problem usually provides relief.

Follow the P.R.I.C.E. principles. These letters stand for protection, rest, ice, compression and elevation. Protect your leg by using crutches to take the weight off the knee joint and to allow pain-free walking. Rest your leg. Ice the inflamed area. Compress your knee with a wrap, sleeve or brace. And elevate your leg when possible, especially at night.

Try non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or acetaminophen. NSAIDs, such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), and similar drugs, can help relieve pain, as can acetaminophen (Tylenol). Prescription NSAIDs can provide higher doses and greater potency than over-the-counter NSAIDs.

Lymph-edema is swelling of an arm or leg due to obstruction of the flow of lymph, a milky-looking body fluid. The primary treatment for lymph-edema remains the use of good elastic stockings. Various surgical procedures have been tried, generally with little lasting benefit.

See a doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

I hope this helps you. And good luck.

When someone is stabbed in the side/lower abdomen, do they die instantly like on TV/in movies? Even if the stab wound was directly in the heart, would it kill a person in a matter of seconds?

Most stab wounds to the abdomen would not, usually, result in instant death. The cause of death in cases of stabbing is most often due to exsanguination - the loss of the majority of circulating volume. Some injuries eg an injury to the femoral artery, result in rapid and catastrophic loss of circulating volume in a very short period of time. Unless action is taken to stem the flow, this kind of injury will result in rapid collapse of the individual.A well-known case in the UK was that of Damilola Taylor - he was a 10 year old who received a stab wound to his leg. The wound damaged his femoral artery. He was able to drag himself approximately 100 m, he died in an ambulance some 30 minutes later. Cause of death - catastrophic haemorrhage.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/...There are many documented cases of patients who have sustained stab wounds to the liver or spleen. Whilst they have become extremely unwell after massive blood loss, they have not, generally, collapsed and died instantly.Stab wounds to the heart can result in an almost immediate collapse - often due to an instantaneous interruption to the ability of the heart to beat in a co-ordinated fashion.Again, I have seen a great number of patients who have survived cardiac injuries.A good number of years ago, a male patient arrived in our department with a small stab wound to left chest. He had arrived by taxi and looked, fairly, well.Nevertheless, the decision was made to take him to the operating theatre (surgery) for a thoracotomy. The complicating factor was that, at that time, our hospital did not have the equipment to put the patient on bypass to allow the heart to be stopped whilst surgical repair was attempted. The equipment was 'on its way' from the nearby hospital. As the patient arrived in theatre, we were stopped by the orthopaedic team who had just completed an operation.'What's going on?''He has been stabbed and the cardiothoracic team are on the way, but he's getting worse!'(I was young and panicked, this man was dying now and nothing could happen)The orthopaedic register looked at the patient. 'It's ok' he said, 'I'll do it'He was South African and well used to dealing with stab wounds. By the time the cardio-thoracic team arrived with their equipment, the orthopaedic registrar had opened the chest, sutured the hole in the left ventricle (whilst the heart continued to beat) and was closing the chest.

Do women cricketers wear abdomen guard while batting, wicketkeeping or while close in fielding?

I know they don't have the dangling bits like guys. But I'd imagine a solid whack to a woman's abdomen hurts too.Well, yeah, a solid whack anywhere hurts, but to the outer abdomen it's nothing like a guy getting a whack in the abdomen. Now, a bruised crotch regardless of gender hurts, swells, and is probably best avoided, so yay Abdomen protectors, but I've yet to see a girl or woman take a crotch shot and wind up in fatal incident either puking or passed out. I've seen that happen more than once with guys, though. Between a woman's legs just isn't prone to serious pain and injury. Getting hit there is equivalent to getting hit in the calf, thigh, buttocks, etc. Whereas a man getting hit in the privates is equivalent to getting hit in the knee, eye, or throat. But when i sought some insight from my close friend (female) she said if hit in the abdomen while playing cricket it causes Burning pain, and soreness for daysSo I believe women cricket players wear a cup if they're batting , as the bowler is essentially aiming for their crotch at high speed with a ball about the weight of lump of granite and also during fielding close to the batter.the below pic is the abdomen guard used by female cricketersAlso Women cricketers use chest guard

Pain just under the right rib cage, just got in from shoveling snow?

It hurts to move, and a little bit to take deep breaths. I shoveled our drive way, salted it, and then did some work around the house just carrying some stuff. Now I have pain under my right, lower ribs, which hurts the worst when I turn. I wouldn't say the pain is extreme, although it definitely hurts. These are my only symptoms I'm having. I am 16 years old.

Any ideas what it could be?

What happens when you get shot in the stomach?

It largely depends how the bullet would traverse the inner organs in the upper abdomen:This is a transverse section of the upper abdomen just below the lowest part of your breastbone:and this is the same a bit lower down:The biggest worry would be a hole in either the biggest artery the aorta or right next to it the big vein the inferior vena cava, one can bleed to death within minutes if the surrounding tissue don't keep the blood from freely flowing out.A hole in one of the large organs with lots of blood in them e.g. the spleen and the liver, maybe one of the kidneys, would also cause a bleeding, but that usually can be treated up to some hours later.A hole in the stomach or the intestines will cause stomach acid or intestinal bacteria to contaminate the peritoneum, causing a peritonitis, a serious infection that can be fatal if not treated within half a day or so.If the pancreas was damaged it could cause a severe pancreatitis. So if one doesn't immediately bleed to death, usually surgery is indicated if the bullet's entry wound really was into the belly, since we should check all organs for tears to either repair or in acute war situations put lots of gauze to pack the bleeding locally, closing the abdomen and transferring the wounded to a better equiped hospital in the second line, there the intestines and the stomach  after having been inspected for holes are to be repaired, the peritoneum irrigated to clear the contamination as much as possible, the non viable tissue removed and then either the abdominal wall is closed, or if there was too much edema the wound left open do not to elevated the intra-abdominal pressure which could be closing of the venous return through the inferior vena cava prevents the heart from getting filled with enough blood to be able to pump enough blood around (circulatory shock due to Abdominal compartment syndrome). The bullet's path can determined by ricochet against bony structures like the spine, the pelvis, higher up the ribs

Could you survive being stabbed in the abdomen?

A gut shot or stabbing is A painful way to go. There are many. The issue is wether or not A major vessel or the Liver is hit. A hit to the liver will kill very quickly while a near miss will often end in peritonitis which is just about as bad as it gets for A death in terms of duration in the field. As you will be immobile as soon as you stop moving for more than a few minutes unless you are very tough and if you do not stop you will bleed unless you have the right help. A bad gut wound will easily kill. I have had some field exp with such wounds, having been stabbed in the chest deeply enough to cough up blood a nicked Femoral artery from A specW and I caught one in the shoulder. It's not all that painful but you ain't moving after you finish the battle, you lock up for a couple of days on a deep tissue cut. If you take A hit, relax, your either gonna die or your not. My advice is to Finish the fight like it didn't happen. I own two knives that I didn't have handed to me or purchase myself. They both once belonged to people that shouldn't have played with knives.
