Any Manga like Sailormoon?

Hello, I am a long time lover of Sailormoon but since I have read/watched/seen just about everything about Sailormoon, Im looking to see if there is anything like Sailormoon that I would like to read. Seems to me like there are alot of Anime lovers on here so I thought I would give it a try!

Thanks in advance!

Sailor Moon English TV Series Vs Japanese question?

Personally I would go for the Japanese version. Mercea is correct that it's the "same show", but it's from a time when anime footage was heavily re-edited before being played on American TV, rather than just a "dub" you get these days, so there are hours worth of footage which have been removed or altered.

- Name changes, in Japanese she's named Usagi, same as the manga. etc. and voice actor changes. e.g. In English, there are 3 separate "Serena"s whereas there is only one Japanese "Usagi".

- Better songs. The opening is the same tune, but the lyrics are more mysterious / romantic in the Japanese cut. The English lyrics are just cheesy and describe the plot in the most basic language. The original transformation music is also cooler, and was only changed so they didn't have to pay royalties.

- More action, and sexier, in the Japanese. Anything remotely "violent" or "sexy" was editied out of the American cut. several Japanese episodes don't exist at all in the English version, because it was felt Usagi's disguises were "too sexy". So you're missing those episodes entirely.

- For the first two seasons, they added those "sailor says" segments to the show purely to meet "educational requirements" of American kids TV at that time (no longer enforced). Those things area an abomination which were never part of the show to start with. To fit it in, they cut out a lot of footage from every single episode.

- they gender-flipped at least one villain (Zoisite i think) from male to female to hide an implied gay relationship. Then you have the "cousins", they tried to hide the lesbians, but only succeeded in making them incestuous lesbians. Which we all know is WAY better.

- Totally dumbed down the ending of season 1. Season 1 is the best season of Sailor Moon, and has a TOTALLY epic ending - but only in the Japanese version. The Season 1 ending in the Japanese is heart-breaking and spans several episodes. The Americans decided that it was "too traumatic", so they cut all the action, dumbed it down, to remove anything potentially upsetting / tearkerking, and the whole thing was cut down from multi episodes to one episode.

For all these reasons and more, I'd say go for the original cut.

Where in the sailor moon series do the movies take place?

The movies don't exactly fit into the TV series storyline. When it originally aired, the movies were in theaters about halfway through each season that shared its name. I would recommend watching each season, then stop and watch its movie. So your order would be:

Sailor Moon (episodes 1-46)
Sailor Moon R (episodes 47-89)
Sailor Moon R movie
Sailor Moon S (episodes 90-127)
Sailor Moon S movie
Sailor Moon Super S (episodes 128-166)
Sailor Moon Super S movie
Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (episodes 167-200)

I hope that helps. Have fun!

Dragon Ball Z vs Sailor Moon?? Which is a better Anime?

dragon ball z FTW

Why was sailor moon cancelled?

Short simple answer, we had a contract to show it and sell it but that contract expired in 2004 and we never renewed it. Very disappointing, I know...especially considering that the StarS (5th) season was never dubbed..... :'(
