Scratch And Dent On A Truck Estimate

How much would it cost to repair a SMALL dent and scratch on a trailer?

I backed into a trailer across the street while trying to pull out of my driveway, I saw the truck it was hooked up to, but I didn't see the trailer and it did leave a small dent and scratch. The owners seemed understanding, but very upset about the damage.

Should I tell him I accidently scratched his truck?

if hes your boyfriend, then honesty and trust are the number one things you need to have a successful relationship. Yeah he may be mad, but you need to tell him, otherwise it will eat u up inside, and everytime he talks about the "Bas*ard who scratched his truck" (which im sure he will say--most guys do) you'll feel hurt, not only because it was you who scratched the truck but also because someone who means alot to you is upset. So get brave and just tell him, tell him you're extremely sorry and it was a total accident, if it really bothers him, suggest he get an estimate to have it fixed, and once you've saved the money up for it you'll pay to have it fixed. Its the only thing you can say that will make him see how sorry you really are, and then maybe he won't make you pay, but it will show him how much you respect him to tell him the truth. Even if hes sooo mad at first he doesn't say "its ok", he'll eventually see it. Good Luck!

Car scratch and dent cost and repair, please help!?

Yesterday, I was backing out of a crowded parking lot. I was parked next to this huge SUV and I was also driving a Honda Odyssey. I was looking behind me and as I was turning to check my mirrors I bumped into a car that was driving behind me. I had barely pulled out of the parking space. Perhaps less than a foot out. I immediately slammed on the breaks and pulled back into the spot. This was my first accident ever, however, even though the damage was minimal it still left me in shock. This was my first accident in the two years I've had my license. I don't remember the make of the car I hit because I was in too much shock, but it was approximately the size of a Toyota Corolla or maybe slightly smaller than a Toyota Camry. It had scratches along the back passenger door, though they consisted mostly or the white scratches, approximately a foot long and a minor dent on the back above tire. At the time I didn't have the insurance information on me, its normally something my father carries on himself. But I did give her my name, my father's name, our home phone number, my cell phone number, and my vehicle identification number. Both the lady and I agreed that it was kind of both of out faults, she said that she didn't see me and that I didn't see her, which is completely true and she was completely nice about it. Her husband did call later to get the insurance information which my father readily handed over.
Anyways my point is, does anyone know approximately how much it costs to repair a scratch about a foot long and a dent? I'm not so much worried about the damage to my car, but more so to hers.

How much does it cost to have car keys made from scratch?

This is an apple/orange comparison, but I'll try to answer. When all working keys are lost, you have 3 choices:
1. Contact the dealership for that make if one still exists or you have one close enough to make it feasible. This may work if the vehicle is not too old for them to be able to get the code. (5 to 15 years, depending on the make.) They don't keep the codes forever. On newer models, even being able to get the code may not help, as there will be a 'chip' that must be programmed to the vehicle physically, meaning the car must be towed in to the dealer. They cannot make you a key that will start the car without access to the car. The dealer will also require that any 'trouble codes' their equipment find be corrected at the time as well. Average cost, mechanical key on file, $15. Average cost, transponder key, $75 to ???? plus tow bill and any other work they can add to the tab.

2. Replace the locks. On an older vehicle, this could be your cheapest option if the locks can be removed without a key or special equipment and you have the mechanical know-how. Newer vehicles require keys to remove the ignition lock or need special tools. If the vehicle is transponder equipped, this option will triple your cost and cannot be done by the average to advanced DIY'er. New transponder chip keys will have to be made and programmed for the new locks and may require replacement of computer modules. Average cost, diy, mechanical key; < $100. Transponder key; $500 to $3500

3. Automotive Locksmith. I specify 'automotive' as the transponder or high security keys require special training and equipment. The locksmith comes to the vehicle, no towing. The locksmith doesn't need the key code from the dealer, so the age of the vehicle doesn't matter. The locksmith can program the chip to the vehicle to get you on your way. You will have charges for: Travel, be it a trip charge or service call fee. Key origination, ie; making the key from scratch. The transponder key blank. Programming the key. Average cost varies from locksmith to locksmith and whether it is regular business hours or after hours. The specific vehicle will be a factor as well. Call and ask.

Duplicating existing keys can remove hundreds of dollars in fees. Programming is still required for chip keys.

How much does it cost to fix a scratched bumper?

It really depends on the level of damage that has been done to the Base Coat (color layer) of the paint. It’s a Plastic Bumper… I’d clean it first, with soap & water, then probably use a polishing compound to remove any surface-scuff that has embedded into the clear-coat. Lightly sanding with some Scotch-Brite Pad to cut-down the clear-coat you’d be able to see if the Base Coat has been affected. Glazing Putty to fill any imperfections; prep sanding once dry, a few lite coats of matching color paint (masking-off, to prevent over-spray), more polishing, then clear-coat over the repaired area & blending with old paint surface.I would say 4 Hours of Labor/Waiting Time, $70 in Materials & an attention to detail is all it takes.Unfortunately, the vehicle owner will contact their insurance carrier & your Insurance Carrier will be made to pay whatever it is the Vehicle Owner Wants, regarding Repair, as it falls under Collision & You left an admission of guilt. Otherwise it would have fallen under Comprehensive Coverage & wouldn’t affect your Insurance Rates. When going through an Insurance Estimator, it could cost you anywhere from $500–$1200, instead of the Repair Cost I quoted above.
