Shall I Take Protein Shakes

Is it safe to drink protein shakes everyday?

Are there any negative effects that may arise if you drink protein shakes on a regular basis? Could it increase my chances of getting cancer? Will it lower my intelligence or damage my brain in any way? Are there any other hidden dangers or potential risks?

Do I need to do body weight training and take protein shakes everyday to learn calisthenics?

Bodyweight training is considered calisthenics.Push ups, pull ups, squats, dips etc are the foundations of calisthenics. If you're looking to go more advanced and do muscle ups, planche push ups, front lever etc then you will need to train hard and often.Consistency is the key when it comes to learning advanced calisthenics. I wouldn't train every day to start but I do recommend you do a 3x a week full body bodyweight circuit for about 12 weeks then move on to a 4–5 day split where you isolate 1–2 muscle groups each session.Again, CONSISTENCY and patience are key to being able to do advanced calisthenics and it takes 6 months+ for most people to be able to do their first muscle up and even longer for planche push ups.Lastly, protein shakes are overrated and aren't the secret ingredient to becoming good at calisthenics. A nutrient rich diet and plenty of sleep will set you on your way. Protein shakes are only a 'supplement’ to your diet if you're struggling to get enough protein/carbs/calories in each day.Hope this helps

When can I take protein shake on an empty stomach, after a workout or after food?

Protein shakes are almost always based on whey protein.Whey protein leaves the stomach so quickly that it can saturate the absorptive capacity of the small intestine. As little as 15 grams consumed quickly as a single serving can do that. Larger servings consumed quickly overflow into the large intestine where they are wasted.Animals have NO place to store amino acids except as temporary lean tissue, almost all of which is muscle. There is no magic here. Muscle is limited in its construction rate. At some point, more amino acids won’t become more muscle. Rather, they will circulate back to the liver where they are converted into glucose. There are few studies that actually show muscle benefit from supplemental protein beyond the recommended 0.8 grams per kg of body mass. Those were limited to young females (20?) and older males (>80).The reason is that although slowly-absorbed protein does generally become temporary muscle, virtually all of that is cannibalized for amino acids which the liver can convert to glucose while awaiting the next meal. Since adults generally LOSE muscle mass over the years, MORE than 100% of the temporary muscle is lost while awaiting the next meal. That said, whatever benefit there is to be gained from protein shakes requires that its digestion be slowed. The most obvious way to do that is to consume it with a meal.To manage weight, it may matter when protein supplements are consumed: Protein supplements are not as effective when eaten as snacks

When doing intermittent fasting, can I take a protein shake during fasting?

No. Fasting means no calories. A protein shake will spike your insulin. You could do 5 grams of BCAA powder, but that’s it. If you decide you need a protein shake, make sure it’s no carb and the lowest calorie per scoop you can find. Only use as much as you need, like a half scoop.Personally I got a little fed up of the absolute mess of information the internest throws at you when it comes to fasting. It gets pretty hard to know what to follow, how long to follow it for and half the time it doesn’t work. I mean we wouldn’t all keep hearing about fad diets if one actually met half the promises, right? You can download the Eat-Stop-Eat Audiobook completely free from Fasting TV. It goes back to basics to actually get results: [Free Audiobook] Eat - Stop - Eat: Make Fasting Simple Again (And Get Actual Results)If you haven’t really looked fasting before it can be a murky topic. There’s a lot of inforation to go on, especially online where everyone and their dog have an opinion whether they’re qualified to share it or not.At the most base fasting is an intentional withholding of food. Whether for spiritual or health reasons there absolutely are benefits to it when used correctly. To everyone spouting that it’s all a craze with no backing - I think you’re thinking of detoxing and juice cleanses. Fasting is different and has clear and proven advantages. There is no set duration or way to do it. I’m not going to pretend like I have all the answers because at the end of the day I only know what works for me and a sample size of one is not a reliable study. However I will tell you that the biggest thing you can do for yourself is get at least a basic understanding of what you’re doing. You don’t need to study nutrition for years but don’t just follow along with fad diets or fasts in the hopes of stumbling into something which works. The sad truth is if it was as easy as all that selling us on fake diet crap wouldn’t be such a big market.
